V-PATH wizard is for management and making of V-PATH curve for a dual probe.
All the original dual probes have a set of default V-PATH calibration curves. Users can
make a set of custom V-PATH curves for a specific probe. Generally you need to identify
whether it is StdMode, ThCoating or Echo mode, and then make the custom V-PATH
curve for that mode. ThCoating or Echo mode may share the same V-PATH curve.
Operation:
1) Tap V-PATH to enter the basic setup screen. Select the WorkMode (StdMode,
ThCoating or Echo), and then select the probe and the curve based on the actual
situation. Use Del to delete the selected custom curve (the default curve cannot be
deleted); Use Add to add a custom curve, or you may select the default curve to
edit or modify; when the curve is added, LineSelect is switched to the new curve
automatically.

the default curve suffix is "* _echo". For SingleProbe, the curve selection is
"None”.
2) Tap Next to enter the edit and making of V-PATH curve. Tap Detail button to bring
up the setup screen, which shows the total default point number of the current
curve, the test block thickness values for the recorded points, and the measured
values before applying curve correction. Users can edit the total point number and
the test block thickness values for the recorded points. The V-PATH curve has up
to 32 measurement location points, and the selection of the 32 points shall focus
on an actual measure range that requires smaller measure error, such as the
range lower than 10mm (steel longitudinal wave), or 20-40mm (steel longitudinal
wave) range, but not a random measure point between the minimum to the
maximum range (generally the default V-PATH is fine). For high precision
application of different test ranges, you may create a number of custom V-PATH
curves.
【Note】: The default V-PATH curve is for browsing the recorded points only,
curve.
3) Couple the probe on the test block. Adjust aStart, aWidth and aThresh to bring
gate A to record the first echo, and set up the test range.
4) Select the point number to be recorded from “CurNum” column, and the test block
thickness for the record point is displayed in ”BlockVal” column. Bring gate A to
record the bottom wave of the tested thickness test block. Tap Record, and the
measured thickness value of the test block is added to the curve. Or you can
adjust the thickness value that requires adding a new record. After recording, the
thickness record point of the test block is inserted to the curve location

automatically. If not satisfied with the result, tap DeletePt to delete the thickness
record point of the test block, or DelAllPoi to delete all record points.
5) After finishing the operation, tap Finish, exit the wizard to return to the original
screen.
AutoSearch function may search and adjust waves quickly based on the received wave
signals. According to the wave signals of the tested thickness, AutoSearch quickly adjusts
the system automatically, including the adjustment of display delay, display range, gain
and the measurement gate. It provides a shortcut for operation. However, AutoSearch

include auto adjustment of searching waves, range, gain and gates. If the workmode is
StdMode, software search will bring gate A to record the first wave and adjust autogain of
the first peak to 80%. If the workmode is ThCoating, software search will bring gate A to
record the first wave and adjust autogain of the first peak to 80%, and gate B automatically
records the second wave. AutoSrch in Echo, MultiMode and BScan is equivalent to auto
gain A only.
If the probe type is SingleProbe, AutoSearch in all work modes is equivalent to auto gain
A only.
AutoSearch can be set Single auto search, i.e. to auto search once if enabled once, or

The TG porbes include General and Custom. The general TG probes are a series of TG
probes manufactured by SIUI and available for selection. The Custom TG probes are
non-standard model or user’s custom probe model. The probe specification series include:
DualDelay, SingleDelay, and Single Touch. For the selection of TG probes, see Fig. 5-8.
