FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1
Fig. 1
Check contents of the two packets and assemble the fittings marked opening width
with * in the illustrated boxes on PAGE 1

PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO FIT THIS PRODUCT

STEP 2 (See Fig.1)

Prepare the doors for fitting.
It may be necessary to trim the width and height of each door. To
calculate the correct width for each door proceed as follows:
opening
For each door in a two door installation height
Measure the total width of the opening and divide this width by 2.
Then subtract 6mm (1/4'') from this divided width.
This gives the correct measurement for each door.

For each door in a four door installation

Measure the total width of the opening and divide this width by 4.
Then subtract 5mm (3/16'') from the divided width. This gives the
correct measurement for each door.

To allow sufficient clearance between the top of the door and the
opening/frame and the base of the door and the floor, it may be
necessary to trim the doors to the correct height:
Fig. 2
• Measure the total height of the opening;

• To achieve the minimum clearance, trim the doors so that they (Fixed pin) '2' (with PVC sleeve (Fixed pin) '2'
measure 37mm less than the total opening height.
NOTE: If you are fitting a floor covering after fitting the kit, or intend to fit
the jamb bracket underneath the existing floor covering, you will need 1
3 height
Position of of door
to increase this figure to allow the doors to pass over the floor covering. Door Face door handles

STEP3 (See Fig.1)

1
Fit the hinges to the doors using screws “A” provided. As a guide to 3 width
of door
the correct position of the hinges, place one hinge approx 152mm A B C D
(6'') from the top, one hinge about 152 (6'') from the bottom and one
hinge in the centre.
The hinges may be end fixed or face fixed between the doors, if end
fixing is preferred. (As Fig.1) the door ends must be rebated to
ensure flush fitting of the hinges.

Bottom Pivot (adjustable) Bottom Pivot (adjustable)

STEP4 (See Figs.2 & 3)
Drill holes to accommodate pivots in the positions shown (Figs. 3 &
4) using an 11mm (7/16'') drill. The holes should be 30mm deep,
and 32mm (1 1/4'') from the ends of each door. (Fig.4) Fig. 3

Note: The doors to be fixed to the jamb side (A&D) require two pivot 32mm (11 4") 11mm ( 7 16") dia hole
holes. The guide doors (B&C) require only one pivot hole at the top.

Tap the pivots into each door (positions shown in Fig.3).

30mm (13 16 ")
STEP 5 (See Fig.4)
Fig. 4
Cut the top track to the width of the finished opening. Before fitting
the track, slide in the fixed pivot block and secure the same by Door frame top
turning the bolted head clockwise. The fixed pivot block is hard
plastic and must be fixed at the end of the track so that the bolt
head and not the larger round hole is adjacent to the door jamb and
directly above the bottom jamb bracket, which is at ground level.
(Fig 5,6). Next slide in the snugger at the opposite end of the track,
this will be fixed into position at end of the installation. (see Fig.9)
Using screws “C” attach the top track to the top of the frame at least
3mm (1/8'') back from the front edge. The actual measurement must
be determined by the door thickness and the desired position of the
closed door in relation to the frame (Fig. 4 & 5)
3mm ( 1 8 ")
STEP 6 (See Fig.5)
Using screws “A” provided attach the jamb bracket(s) tight to the
floor and door frame, so that the centre slot of the bracket is in line
with the centre of the top track.
Fig. 5
STEP 7 (See Fig.6)
With the doors folded together lift into position by inserting both the
top pivots first to their full extent, this enables the bottom pivot to be
eased over the bottom pivot housing (plastic). The 5mm extension
on the bottom pivot will now be located inside the hole in Fig. 6 & 7.

STEP 8 Pivot block

ADJUSTMENT OF THE DOORS FOR UNIFORM AND
SMOOTH OPERATION
To ensure the doors sit evenly in the frame and to open and close
without friction it may be necessary to make vertical adjustments to
the height at one or both ends and horizontal adjustments from right
to left, or left to right.

Height Adjustment: The door height may be adjusted as required

by fitting the door o raise the adjustable nut of the bottom pivot clear
of the restraining ridges in the plastic bottom pivot housing. N.B.
It is advisable to use a wooden wedge to support the door during
fitting (not provided). The nut can then be rotated clockwise or anti- Jam Bracket
clockwise with the spanner/aligner to raise or lower the door.

Horizontal Adjustment: Each pair of doors can be moved to the left or

right in the frame opening, into a position where opening and closing
the doors does not cause them to foul the jambs of the door frame.
Fig. 6
This is done by loosening bolt “b” on the plastic bottom pivot
housing to enable it to slide horizontally (with the doors) in the
slotted hole. The fixed pivot block in the top track must also be
loosened to enable corresponding adjustments to be made for the
top as well a the bottom of the doors.

When all the fine adjustments are completed to satisfaction, the bolt
fixing the top pivot block and the bolt “b” in the bottom jamb bracket
must be lightened up to hold everything firmly in position (Fig.7)

Fig. 7

Short bolt 'b'

STEP 9 (See Fig.2)
The door knob must be fitted one to each pair of doors. It must
be fitted to the door which carries the top pivot “1” fitting. The
knob must be fitted one third of the way down the door and one
third from the hinge end of the door to ensure smooth opening Overhang
and closing action. 32mm (11 4")

STEP 10 (see Fig.8)

For 4 door installations only
Attach the door aligners (using screws “11”) to the back of each
guide door (B&C) approximately 300mm (12'') from the bottom
of the door. Adjust the aligners in or out so that the doors are
aligned together at the base.

STEP 11 (See Fig.9)

With the door closed move the nylon snugger along to test
against the top pivot inside the track. Open the door and move
the snugger a further 2mm forward towards the door Tighten the
screw to lock in place, to give a smooth ‘snap shut’ closing.
