1. INTRODUCTION
The NTPRO Fishing Training Module provides students with training in the practice of the
Fishing Officer position. For this purpose, the "Fishing" bridge module includes:
• Maneuvering near other vessels involved in fishing operations
• Trace and hunt fish maneuver the vessel to obtain the best position of fishing gear
with regard to the shoal and seabed
• Safe installation of fishing equipment
• Different types of fishing are simulated:
- Trawl (pelagic: 2559, 2674; bottom: 2561, 2517)
- Purse seine (680\175, 990\200)
- Longline (fixed, drifting)
• Fishing gear settings (trawl winch consoles, seine winch consoles, line management
consoles, etc.)
• The operation of fishing equipment during the trawling of schools of fish, including the
control of the depth of the pelagic trawl
• Proper calibration and use of acoustic devices to detect the position and depth of a
school of fish
• Different hydroacoustic equipment is simulated:
- Sounders (Furuno FCV-780, Furuno CN-24, Simrad ES60), trawl sounder (ScanMar
ScanBas)
- Sonar (Furuno CH-26, Simrad SP70)
• Underwater visual presentation of banks, seabeds, obstacles and fishing equipment,
represented in 3D with great realism
• Underwater Camera Control Console (CCTV)
• For the exercises, the instructor has the possibility to modify the following parameters
for local areas to be selected or globally:
• Schools of fish
- Geometry: size, density, depth, swimming speed, trajectory, real image of each fish
or school

2. FISHING EQUIPMENT
The NTPRO Fishing module provides a 3D underwater vision with real presentation of all
simulation elements (net, rigging, panels, fish, bottom, longline, etc.) and the possibility to
modify the position from the point of view of the camera's presentation and angle.
It is capable of reproducing:
• The effect of the size of the mesh opening, wire diameter and net size on the
resistance of the machine to advancement
• The effect of the length of the funnels, arms, gaps, floats and ballast on the behaviour
of the net
• Effects of fishing gear on vessel handling
• The effects of wind and current on the ship/gear combination
• The effects of thrusters to prevent the vessel from moving towards the net (in the case
of purse seiners)
• he effects of the parameters (nature of the wire, mesh opening, type of mounting of
the lower luff tape, ballast) on the falling speed of a purse seine
• Friction effects on the bottom (bottom trawl)
• The effect on panel behaviour, angle of attack, length of crow's feet and weight of trawl

DETECTION DE POISSONS
All settings of the simulated devices are active and configurable (units, frequency, repetition
rate, etc.).
The simulated consoles are photorealistic to the actual equipment used on board fishing
vessels.
In addition, the simulator has an environmental situation display that helps to understand the
processes of propagation and reception of acoustic signals.
The environmental status display is activated by using the "View" button on the front panel or
by selecting the "RAYS" mode.
In the Environment window, the following items are displayed:
