Greetings, my name is Sakshyam Pandey and I am currently a 2023 student Business
management undergraduate at Herald College. I am very excited to be reflecting on this
past semester. Numerous factors contributed to my decision to attend this university,
some of which include its robust outreach initiatives, strong industry connections, greater
emphasis on career preparation, and exceptionally appealing extracurricular options. The
university's affordability in comparison to its competitors, meanwhile, was its primary
selling point for me.

I'm not just focused on obtaining good marks and a degree; I also want to network, meet
people, and learn entrepreneurial skills that will benefit me later in life. I have never been
particularly sociable and have always tended to be reclusive, but over the past several
months, I have tried a variety of approaches to change this.

During high school, I was completely burned out and had a mental health crisis. During
that time, I sat down with myself and was in a dilemma about whether I am continuing my
studies cannot keep struggling through and failing classes. I either need to find a way to
get it together or just step away. Even though it doesn't sound all that interesting, being
an independent entrepreneur in the future is what drives me to do well in my present
university lectures. That or finding a stable job with a good salary in the pursuit of financial
independence.

Additionally, versatility and a strong drive to learn are two of my personal attributes that I
can contribute to my academics and the entire university program. I'm not the best at
reasoning logically or crunching numbers, but I am incredibly creative and skilled in
linguistics and literature.

Overall, the factors that can prevent me from earning high grades include problems in my
personal life, such as those involving my employment, my relationships, and so on. If
these problems continue and my grades aren't as good, I may enroll in more classes,
develop better time-management techniques, or even better, take control of my life.

Moreover, every one of us knows that University is a center-point for a student to learn,
absorb and accumulate knowledge and share them with their colleagues and mates but
what strategies can we use outside of the university to amplify the expertise gained? I,
personally, have been using several techniques and strategies to further cultivate my grip
and proficiency on several internal as well as external subjects.

As a student, I have always been interested in finding new and effective ways to gain
knowledge and insight into different subjects. Over the years, I have discovered several
methods that have proven to be incredibly helpful in furthering my understanding and
education. These methods include listening to podcasts, watching educational videos,
reading papers from reliable sources, and accumulating job experience through
volunteering and practicums.

Podcasts have been a staple in my educational journey since high school. These audio
recordings provide a wealth of information on a variety of subjects, allowing me to explore
topics of interest, relevant to my major, career goals, and personal interests. They provide
a convenient way for me to learn and gain new insights, as I can listen to them on the go,
while commuting, or during leisure time.

In addition to podcasts, I also frequently turn to educational videos to build my

foundational knowledge on a particular topic. The visual format of these videos allows me
to absorb information at my own pace, as I can pause, repeat, and play the video as many
times as I need to fully understand a lesson. This has proven to be an incredibly effective
method for me, particularly when learning hands-on skills or practical applications.

Reading from reliable sources is crucial to my education. I go beyond the textbook to find
well-researched and accurate information to deepen my understanding of the topics I
study.

Finally, I have also been working to accumulate job experience through volunteering and
practicums. Although I have yet to secure a paid internship or job, I have been actively
volunteering for various programs and participating in practicums. These opportunities
have allowed me to put my education into practice, make connections with professionals
in my field, and gain a better understanding of how the concepts I have learned in the
classroom apply in the real world.

The above-mentioned methods have been effective for me in terms of academic

assistance and assessment completion, however due to my lackluster knowledge of
Mathematics I’ve been struggling with the Statistics module this semester. I'm positive
that I will continue researching and bettering myself for improved grades the next
semester.

This semester has really flown by! I've learned so much in my business classes and feel
like I have a solid foundation for my future studies. First, I have to say that I've come to
appreciate the fascinating complexities and intricacies of the business world and
statistics. I never realized how much these subjects affected our daily lives, and it's been
interesting to learn about it in depth. I feel like I have a better understanding of how
businesses operate and how economics affects them. Especially the workshop classes
have been helpful in practical applications of such learned subjects and topics.

In business management, I learned about the process of identifying and satisfying

customer needs as well as employees, and I'm excited to apply what I've learned in real-
life scenarios. I never thought about all the work that goes into managing, selling, and
promoting products and services, but it's fascinating to see how it all comes together.

One of the best things to happen after I came to this university was me overcoming
anxiety and finding my voice in college. I came into this experience feeling nervous and
unsure of myself, but I am continuing my next semester with confidence and ability to
charm people in a very subtle way. When I first arrived on campus, I was overwhelmed
by the thought of meeting new people and making friends. I had always struggled with
social anxiety and felt like I would never fit in. But as the semester progressed, I started
to open and embrace new opportunities.

I also learned the importance of presentation and bringing myself forward in public for
growth and development. I had several opportunities to give presentations in class, and I
used these as opportunities to improve my skills. I was given feedback by my professors
and classmates, and I used this feedback to make changes to my presentations.
Procrastination was a habit that had been holding me back for as long as I could
remember. I always found myself putting things off until the last minute, and I was
constantly feeling stressed and overwhelmed. However, I made a commitment to change,
and I am proud to say that I have made significant progress in overcoming this habit.

Conveying all that, I have articulated my aspirations to attain certain academic objectives
in due course, by segmenting my objectives into achievable targets, with specific plans
of when and how they will be accomplished.
