focused on your physical health like finding the time to
take a walk, hit the gym or even workout with someone.
If the lifestyle was harsh and full of stress, there would
barely be any time for workouts or physical health in
general as the focus would be more on the task/work/job
instead.
Alcohol and/or drugs Alcohol/Drugs can greatly affect someone’s performance
not only in sports, But for the mental wellbeing of a

B.P4. – Explain in your own words the meaning of mental health and social wellbeing.
Mental Health Mental health is the status and feeling of your mind. This
effects on how we feel, act, think etc. A good mental
health is when you can handle stressful situations, have
empathy to others and make choices that benefit you and
the people around you. While a bad mental health effects
your wellbeing and is the opposite of a good mental
health. Mental Health is important to be kept healthy
from when we are born till, we eventually pass away.
Social Wellbeing Social Wellbeing is having healthy relationships and
keeping those relationships alive and close. It can range
from having friends to having someone you love in a
romantic relationship. Social Wellbeing leads to a much
healthier mental health state, confidence in meeting new
people and even meeting people that can give job
opportunities.

C.P5 Explain mental health and social wellbeing and the factors that can affect mental
health.
Childhood abuse, trauma, or These three can lead to worse mental health which can
neglect lead to depression, loss of sleep from trauma, a dip in
motivation, feeling stuck and can even change the
perspective of life completely, leaving someone with
PTSD or suicidal tendencies. Childhood abuse, trauma
and most notably neglect can lead to having little to no
communication with anyone, having to push away
everyone; this leads to having little to no social wellbeing.
Experience of discrimination Experience of discrimination can lead to worse mental
health, more specifically depression, lack of self-love,
lack of self-worth or confidence.
Bereavement The grief of someone you love/care about can deeply
affect your mental health and social wellbeing. If for
example, someone who was deeply dependent on their
partner passed away, they’d be left feeling completely
empty, stuck and would have trouble expressing their
troubles to anyone else other than their said partner,
worsening their mental health.
Unemployment or losing a Unemployment can lead to feeling stuck mentally as it is

major spike in confidence and can even lead to

depression, lack of sleep and completely feel stuck.
Which could also affect your social life and relationships.

C.P6 Explain the signs and symptoms of poor mental health, using appropriate methods
to assess own mental health.
Reduced motivation Not appearing at work school can show how they no
longer feel the need to go there as it feels unworthy of
one’s attention. Not open on any suggestions or help:
may feel like the help or suggestion is worthless as they
may not feel like tsking them at all.
Depression Feeling sad/empty, stuck. Having lack of sleep. Putting on
an altered face to the public eye. Overthinking, suicidal
thoughts/tendencies. Not wanting to show emotions.
Anxiety Feeling paranoid, like everyone’s watching their every
move. Loss of words consistently and stuttering: may be
overthinking what to say and constantly has to think
before speaking first so that no one judges them.
Poor hygiene Depression and lack of self worth leads to a major factor
in having no motivation to clean after your self or even
yourself in general. Better hygiene leads to even better
performance towards your sports.

B.M2Analyse own physical health and explain strengths and areas for improvement,
comparing to national normative data.

C.M3 Analyse own mental health, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

BC. D2Evaluate own current physical and mental health and the potential impact if
improvements are not made.
In your own words talk about your own physical and mental health in your current life.
Give three examples.
M2: My physical health is relatively decent; strength and agility are pretty good. Physical
aesthetic requires work and I do have lots of body fat. My weight is 90KGs and I’m trying
to maintain that. As for Stamina, it’s awfully low since my heartrate after 1 min of
exercise was 130. I need to practice more cardio workouts in the gym along with usual
runs and cycling.

D2: Physical Health is decent, must require more cardio to improve my physical health by
a lot. As for strength, I need to work out my chest and forearms since they are small and
could be broken by a simple accident. Mental Health is fine, it does require much work as
I am not open of what I think, do or how I feel. It is important to have a good
communication with someone who would listen like a family member or close friend. I
have been going to the gym 3 times a week and doing home workouts, as for my stamina
it’s been getting better and better when I do cardio workouts in the gym. I’ve been doing
more running lately to help my stamina too. As for my mental health, I’m working on it
still, might need some help professionally but we’ll be alright.

You need to identify your weaknesses and suggest ways that you can make changes in
your life to have improvements.
