Why this task?
This transversal knowledge checklist is there to help you look like an Odoo pro in front of
your first customers. These are questions and features that are encountered in most of our
projects. If you can manage them, you will feel more secure in front of the customer and the
customer's trust will increase.
How to handle it?
Go through this list and make sure you master every points.
For the points that are still unknown to you, search the answer by yourself and/or keep
your question for the session with your Odoo consultant.
Review each point during the session with an Odoo consultant.
Before your first project, go through this list once again.
What is this task about?
The task is about reviewing the following checklist of "transversal" Odoo Topics. Are you sure
you can master them all and explain what these are?
Take some time with your Odoo Onboarder to:

Check how well you know the topics by presenting them to your Odoo Onboarder as if
they were your client.
Ask them to fill in your knowledge gaps: if you do not know some topics in that
checklist, it is the right time to ask for a demo or extra explanations.
The checklist
Inside an Odoo DB
Chatter : email flow, activities, notes.
Calendar & link with activities.
"Mail templates: how to configure a mail template, such as "Sales order / Confirmation".
How to define that a contact is a supplier / customers. How Odoo defines it
automatically.
How to use the filters, group by, and the search bar. How to save a filter in the favorites.
Reporting + Dashboard app + spreadsheet (BI) : How to filter and group by in the
reporting section, how to add a report to your Dashboard App, How to use the basics of
spreadsheet embeded in odoo.
Website domain: where to configure it on a Saas DB & an [Link] DB.
Contacts vs users vs Employee : understand the differences and links between an
employee, a user and a contact.
User : know how to create a user and define their language, signature and general
access rights.
Portal Access : know what is the customer portal, the 2 ways to grant portal access to a
specific contact, and how to preview the portal of a specific contact, what is a "portal
user"?
Hidden Search Bar on the general dashboard
Developer mode : know how to quickly activate the developer mode and what are the
consequences (what is the use of it) (/!\ depending on the customer's profile).
Languages: activate, add translations manually & per import.
How to translate labels.
Know how to set default values in fields.

How to change the sequences.
Outside an Odoo DB
(advanced: Knowing the different types of Odoo environments).
Know how to use the guest window (Incognito) to connect to one DB with multiple
users at the same time.
Know how to create a test db and how to block/unblock outgoing mails on the SaaS.
Know how to use the runbot, how to connect to a specific version.
Configure DKIM, SPF & DMARC on the DNS of your domain provider in order to avoid
that the emails sent by Odoo go to the SPAM.

After going through this list, you will be able to manage a great number of frequent
situations/questions/configurations that happen in most of our projects.
