Paper Guide
This document has been carefully created by compiling various Global Perspectives
mark-schemes as of May/June 2023.

If you find any changes or differences in structure of the questions, please contact
me personally!

The document has been arranged question wise. If you are reading this for a quick
last minute revision, ignore the question descriptions.

Please note the answers in this document are generic and when used must be
connected to your specific sources. Do not state these answers as points.

1. Identify ONE state fact or trend from Source 1. [1 Mark] (Question 1a)

This question tests your ability to extract information directly from the sources. It
does not require you to answer in full sentences. Remember to include units if
the source is a table / graph.

2. Identify TWO causes / reasons / issues / benefits / advantages.[2 Marks]


(Question 1b)
This question tests your ability to extract information from the source and
requires you to understand what is meant by cause, reasons, etc. You may
answer in bullet point format, however it is recommended that you write full
sentences for this question.

3. Which/What/ cause/issue/reason/benefit/advantage do you think is the most


significant/important? Explain why? [3 Marks] (Question 1c)
This question requires you to identify a cause, issue, benefit, etc from the source
and give one reason why you believe it has the most significance. Develop the
reason to link back to the issue. It is recommended to give 1-2 reasons.

Give the following reasons:

Affects most people.

Ethically or morally most significant.

Has multiple positive consequences

Creates a virtuous circle.

Affects other aspects of life for young people and society.

Reflects public opinion.

carefully. (Question 1 d/e)

7. How could you test this claim? You may consider the types of information,
sources of evidence or methods you might use. [8] (Question 2c)
This question requires you to state methods of testing a claim, and also the type
of information and sources used. You must give 3-4 well developed points.
Ensure that you develop your points and explain how they can prove / test the
claim by explaining the question, data being asked/used. Always conduct both
primary and secondary methods of research.

This question require you to first read the Source and choose which one you find
more convincing. Explain which argument is more convincing by comparing 3 or
more well developed factors / points from below. Try to get 1 points from each
category. (Acceptability, Language and Tone, Evidence, Bias) I recommend 4-5
comparisons between the two arguments.

Thereafter, develop each of the points you make from the list below. You need at
least 4 developed points. I recommend including 5 fully developed points and 2-
3 underdeveloped points. As you conclude, explain why this is the best course of
action, and why the others aren’t. (to acknowledge and show consideration of
counter arguments / perspectives).
