CHAPTER IV
PRESENTATION, ANLYSIS AND DATA , INTERPRETATION OF FINDINGS
This chapter present the result, the analysis and interpretation of data gathered from the answer the
questionnaire distributed to the field.
THE PROFILE OF THE RESPONDENTS
This section contains the presentation of data regarding to profile of the respondents such as age, sex,
year level and monthly family income.

Age
As gleaned from Table 1, it indicates that majority of the respondents are in the age of bracket
of 16-17 years old garnering 82.5 percent or 33 out of 40 respondents. This is followed by those in the
age bracket of 18-19 years old garnering 17.5 percent or 7 out of 40 respondents. There are no
respondents with age of 19 years old and above.
Sex
As shown in Table 1, 37.5 percent or 15 out of 40 respondents were male, while 37.5 percent
or 15 out of 40 respondents were female. This indicates a clear and big disparity in their profile in terms
of sex.
Number of Family Members
The Table 1, indicates that half of the respondents have 4 family members. They make up 50
percent of the respondents or 20 out of 40. This is followed by those having 5-7 members with
constitute 17 out of 40 respondents or 42.5 percent, and the remaining three respondents or 7.5
percent belong to a family with 8 members and above.
Monthly Family Income
The table 1 shows the respondents in terms of family income per month. It reveals that there
were 30 or 75 percent respondents whose parents have a family income of Php5,000 and below. There
are no respondents with 5,001-7,000 out of 40 respondents. This is followed by those having 7,001-
10,000 income to constituted of 8 out of 40 respondents or 20 percent, and the 2 of the respondents
having a 5 percent out of 40 respondents.

Psychological Factors
As gleaned from Table 2.1, the respondents of Sometimes “ I do my assignments regularly ” as
shown by the mean value of 3.8 ,“ I spend my free time doing assignments ”, (3.4), “ I exert
more effort when I do difficult times”. While the respondents of Often “ I study and prepare for
quizzes and text”(3.75), “ I study the lesson I missed if I was absent from the class ” (3.43).
This findings implies that respondents are Often affected by the psychological factors as shown
by the average mean value 3.54. Interaction is a considerable extent depends upon the level of
intelligence of the students. It indicates that intelligence and the thinking/learning style of the
students that can affect their academic performance.

Social Factors
As gleaned from Table 2.2 , the statements which rated by respondents as Often affected are
the following: “ I listen attentively to the lecture of my subject teacher ”, (4.3), “ I make my self prepared
for my subject teacher”, (3.73), while the Sometimes affected are the following: “ I actively participate
in discussion answering exercises and clarifying things I did not understand”, (3.7), “ I am lack of
confidence to speak in front ”, (2.88), “ I prefer not to recite because I want to avoid the embarrassment
of giving incorrect answers” (3.13).
The findings shown that the Social Factors are Often the reason of an impact of their academic
of the students academic performance as shown by the average mean of 3.55.

Emotional Factors
As shown as Table 2.3, it appears that the respondents are Sometimes affected in the
following: “ I am afraid of speaking in front of class”, (3.2), “ I am afraid to share ideas in group activities
”, (2.98), “ I am nervous when the teachers ask about the lessons”, (3.25). While the Often affected in the
following: “ I am feeling anxious or stressed about school works or exam”,(3.68), “ I am feeling
disappointed when I see my grades ”,(3.43).
From the foregoing data, it is evidence that social factors Sometimes affect the performance of
the Grade 11- Gas students as shown by the average weighted mean value of 3.31. The result suggested
that factors like impatient lectures, disruptive classmates as well as afraid of speaking in front of class
can be the reason as low academic performance.

As gleaned from the Table 3, the statement which rated by the respondents as Neutral are
the following; “ I use effective note-taking strategies during lectures and study sessions ”, (3.45). While
the respondents are Agree are the following; “ I actively participate in class discussion and activities ”,
(3.95), “ I consistently complete assigned readings and homework” ,(3.68), “ I manage my time
effectively to balance academic responsibilities and other commitments”,(4.7), “ I collaborate with
classmates on group projects or study sessions ”,(3.58).
The findings implies that respondents are Agree with possible solutions for psychological,
social, and emotional factors as shown by the average mean value of 3.87.
Chapter V
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents the summary of the study, conclusions drawn and recommendations based from
the result of the study.
SUMMARY
This study sought to identify the Factors Affecting the Academic Performance of 11 Gas Students in
Carthel Science Educational Foundation, Inc. The study was conducted in Carthel Science Educational
Foundation Inc., with 48 respondents from the 11 Gas Students. The researcher used the descriptive
method of research. Questionnaire was the main data gathering instrument of the study. Descriptive
statistics such as frequency, percentage, weighted mean, were used as statistical tools to treat the data.
Likert scale were also used to the questionnaires.
1. On the Profile of the 11 Gas Students
Age
Majority of the respondents are in the age bracket of 16-17 years old garnering 82.5 percent or 33 out of
48 respondents. This is followed by those in the age bracket of 18- 19 years old with 7 respondent
equivalent to 17.5 percent. There are no respondents with age of 19 years old and above.
Sex
There were 37.5 percent or 15 respondents were male, and 62.5 percent or 25 respondents were
female.
Number of Family Members
There were 42.5 percent of the respondents have 5-7 family members, 4 members have 50 percent and
7.5 percent belong to a family with 8 members and above.
2. Factors Affecting Academic Performance of 11 Gas Students in Carthel Science Educational
Foundation Inc.
Psychological Factors
The respondents are never affected by the psychological that garnering with an average weighted mean
of 3.54.
Social Factors
The respondents are never affected by the social that garnering with an average weighted mean of 3 55.
Emotional Factors
The respondents are never affected by the emotional that garnering with an average weighted mean of
3.31.
Solutions for the Psychological, Social, and Emotional Factors
The majority of the respondents are agreed for the possible solutions on the factors in terms of
psychological, social, and emotional that can affect in there Academic Performance with an average
weighted mean of 3.87.
CONCLUSIONS
1. The profile of the students indicates that the majority of the respondents were in at age of 16-17
years old or 82.5 percent, while the gender majority of the respondents were female with the total of 25
or 62.5 percent, and in the monthly family income of the respondents there were 30 or 75 percent has a
Php 5,000 and below, and according to this study half of the respondents have 5-7 family members they
make up 42.5 percent of the respondents or 17 out of 40 respondents.
2. The identified psychological, social, and emotional aspects are those that sometimes have an impact
on the respondents’ performance, according to the analysis. To conclude, the participants on this study
has a moderate impact of factors Affecting on their academic performance.
3. This study aims to demonstrate that the factors affecting the academic performance was affected on
students want to know what can affect there performance in school.
