ABOUT MARVEL AND DC:

Whenever the topic of superheroes comes up we usually come across terms like
"Marvel" and "DC"....but we are often left confused about what Marvel and DC
really are and how they are of so much significance when it comes to superheroes.
Marvel and DC with their world of superheroes have truly created wonders. They
are the reason for the existence of the superheroes.

So let's start from where it all started, THE DC UNIVERSE..

The DC Universe (DCU) is the fictional shared universe where most stories
in American comic book titles published by DC Comics take place.
DC superheroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman are from this
universe, as well as teams such as the Justice League. It also contains well-
known super villains such as Lex Luthor, the Joker, and Harley Quinn.

The basic concept of the DC Universe is that it is supposed to be just like the real
world, but with super-heroes and super-villains existing on it. The main DC
Universe, as well as the alternate realities related to it, were quickly adapted to
other media such as film serials or radio dramas.

Now let's move on to the most celebrated and renowned world of superheroes....

THE MARVEL UNIVERSE

The Marvel Universe is a fictional shared universe where the stories in

most American comic book titles and other media published by Marvel
Comics take place.

Super-teams such as the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and many
Marvel superheroes live in this universe, including characters such as Spider-
Man, Captain America, Iron Man , thor, etc are a part of this amazing universe.

It also contains well-known super villains such as Ultron, Loki and the infamous
Thanos.

Editor Stan Lee, together with several artists including Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko,
created a series of titles where Headline characters in one title would make cameos
or guest appearances in other books. Eventually, many of the leading heroes
assembled into a team known as the Avengers. The Marvel Universe was also
notable for setting its central titles in New York City; by contrast, many DC
heroes live in fictional cities. Care was taken to portray the city and the world as
realistically as possible, with the presence of super humans affecting the common
citizens in various ways.

WHY ADULTS ARE

ATTRACTED TO HEROES:
Originally superheroes were created for children's entertainment but research
shows the adults are more invested in watching movies related to superheroes than
the kids. Now you may ask why do adults like superheroes movies so much? The
answer is simple to escape from the intricacies of real world. Adults have a much
more complicated life than children; they have responsibilities to face and
sometimes want to escape from these problems. Most of the adults begin as a
viewer and then end up loving the magical universe of superheroes. It brings back
their memories of the good old days where they had no responsibilities and only
the anticipation of when the comics were going to come out and when movies were
going to be released. Therefore adults have more of a reason to come back to these
movies than that of children.

ARE SUPERHEROES
WORTH THE CRAZE:
Why do most if not all super hero movies involve destruction of the city and
property of the people they are saving ?Isn’t it ironic? Because these superheroes
are fighting super villains and powerful adversaries. Superman isn’t fighting
against a couple of hoodlums , he is fighting against another one of his kind, who
is as strong as he is. To have Superman beat his enemies without damage or effort
would be unfitting for a proper superhero film. In the Avengers, the Avengers are
fighting an alien-invasion. Again, damage is unavoidable and without it a
superhero film cannot be presented. Pretty much the same with all other films and
comics, if powerful beings are fighting, the fragile things around them get
damaged, that’s a fact. It’s just thrilling to watch and doesn’t really make any sense
in reality. Of course, benefits would often accrue to others as a result of the hero’s
action. Nations were delivered, curses were lifted, material wealth was secured,
lives were saved. Though their deeds were often phenomenal acts of bravery and
strength, but we cannot conclude that those were always done in favour of the
commoners and not to save their back!

WHAT MAKES HEROES

LOOK SO GOOD:
A HERO is a person of distinguished courage and ability, admired for their brave
deeds and noble qualities. A person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic
qualities or has performed a heroic act is regarded as a model. Heroes have certain
qualities which make them the "HERO" we all love and adore.

•Heroes understand others perspective.

•They have useful skills and strengths

•They have a strong moral compass.

•Heroes are competent and confident.

And most importantly they are not afraid to face fear.

Researchers suggest that heroes aren't just compassionate and caring; they have a
knack for being able to see things from the perspective of others. They can "walk a
mile in another man's shoes," so to speak. When they encounter a situation where
an individual is in need, they are immediately able to see themselves in that same
situation and see what needs to be done to help.

BE THE HERO IN YOU AND

QUALITIES WE SHOULD
ADOPT FROM HEROES:
Unfortunately, however cool the prospect of Having Superheroes in our midst may
be, it’s not every day or rather any-day at all, that we see spider-man swinging
from towers to skyscrapers or Batman swooping in to save the day. And maybe we
never will. In any way, the world is a dangerous place and sometimes there's a
need for saviours to rescue us. Regrettably, there's no real way to gain super
strength or to fly like in the comic books. But that doesn't mean that someone can't
become a real-life superhero. Super heroes are essential people who devote a part
of their lives in service of the people, sometimes even compromising their own. If
we look around us we will find that there exist many people in our day to day live
who make our lives easier: Our parents who protect us since childhood, the
frontline workers during covid, the policemen who tried to keep law and order in
the society, the doctors who treated and cured thousands of patients of the fatal
disease and even our teachers who found out a way to overcome the challenging
situation and provide us with education – aren’t these people our saviours? I
believe each and every one of us is capable of being a Hero. As a real-life
superhero, you should aim to set examples for those around you, specifically the
youth. By Being brave and having a big heart you can contribute to the welfare of
the society in many ways like providing food for the homeless or helping a lost
child find the way back home. You may think the characters of Marvel and DC are
imaginary and perhaps indeed their universe exists inside our head but why on
earth should it mean it’s not real? As their fans it should be our duty to carry
forward their morals and ideals for which they wanted to fight for to make the
earth a better place to live in.
