1. Let’s review what we learned in Part 1: What is the mission of The Rotary Foundation?

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and
peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and
alleviating poverty.

2. What are the two main types of grants? How can each grant type be used?
District Grants - Fund small-scale, short-term activities that address needs in your community
and communities abroad.
Global Grants - Support large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes in
Rotary’s areas of focus.

3. Let’s take another look at the seven areas of focus. Why are they important?
Promoting Peace
Fighting disease
Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene
Saving mothers and children
Supporting education
Growing local economies
Protecting the environment

4. What do you think is meant by “sustainable”?


Being able to meet needs without compromising the environment, economic, cultural and social
factors for future generations.

5. One of the requirements for a Global Grant is that a community needs assessment be
conducted. Why do you think a community needs assessment is required?
It is needed to assess the project viability and whether it applies to rotary service areas

6. How can the Grant Model encourage Rotarians and Rotaractors to participate and contribute?
It provides them with the view of how their contributions are making an impact within the greater part
of the world.

7. Can the Grant Model help the club’s public image?

❖ Which type of Rotary Foundation Grant would you apply for? Why?

A Global grant because it supports large international activities with sustainable, measurable outcomes
in Rotary’s areas of focus. The budget need is within the global grant range of USD40k to USD 400k

❖ Is the grant sustainable? Why or why not?

The grant is sustainable as it applies to the 4 aspects of sustainability which are Environment, Economic,
Cultural and Social aspect of the entire future success of the community.

❖ Does the project fit an area of focus? Which one?


The project applies to the Providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene service area
