INTRODUCTION
An icon is small symbol on computer screen that rpresents program or file. When you start window, "my
computer" can be located by you at upper left corner of window desktop
MY COMPUTER ICON AT WINDOW DESKTOP
When you double click on MY COMPUTER icon for all drives, printers, control panel of computer are
displayed. Click on desired drive to see folder and files in that drives
DISPLAY PROPERTIES
By using the display properties, you can change settings of your computer
1. BACK GROUND= We can change look of our desktop screen very easily. After opening " My computer''
program, double-click on control panel icon. In control panel, double click on DISPLAY icon, it will open
window of display properties. Display is pattern, colour. etc. of your computer screen which you can
change according to your liking. There is menu at top od display window with number of optios. From
this menu, if you click ACKGROUND you can change the desktop background. Below menu is computer
screen which displays pattern currently applied on desktop screen. There are number of patterns
available from which you can select anyone. The selected pattern on Computer screen above. After
selecting pattern, click on APPLY button. Finally, click on OK. That pattern apears on your desktop screen.
You can also select a picture stored by you in file or directory by clicking on BROWSE option. This picture
can be used as Wall Paper. Background Display of Computer Desktop is also called Wall Paper
2. SCREEN SAVER= It is feature starts when your computer is idle for specified number of minutes. While
working on computer, if you go out for drinking water and when yu return back, you will find attractive
picture or pattern called SCREEN SAVER displayed on your screen
TO CHANGE THE PATTERN OF SCREEN SAVER
Go to display properties as you have done before. In window that appear, click on screen saver option.
The option that has already been selected will be highlighted. You can change it by selecting options. You
have to select minutes before activating Screen Saver. Normally, screen saver appears when computer
has been idle for minutes. But you can increase time by using spinner buttons within box labelled WAIT.
To remove screen saver from screen, just move mouse or press any key on keyboard and file you were
working will again appears on screen
BROWSING
It is going through various files & directories for finding right one. One can select file from various files
given in option browsing
MOUSE
You can also change settings of mouse. From Control Panel window, double-click on MOUSE ICON. Click
on pointers in menu at top of window. Use scroll bar inside box to see pointers of 'various shapes'. Select
the shape you prefer, then click on APPLY button
