Leadership and Collaboration Artifact
Following the outline given by Anchorage School District (ASD) for After looking at the
mClass data, the following SMART goals were created through group discussion and looking
into what the Below score would be for the end of year (EOY) assessment in letter sounds and
decoding. We began by discussing what areas could benefit from targeted interventions and
decided to focus on reading as this is a foundational skill that students need to be successful in all
other areas of learning. Examples of mClass data are also included. The SMART goals we came
up with are below:
SMART Goal 1
Specific At the end of the year, given an m-Class Amplify NWF (Letter Sounds-CLS)
fluency probe, 63% (well below m-Class scores) of the first graders will
correctly identify at least 49 letter sounds from selected text in one minute.
Measurable Given an m-Class Amplify NWF (Letter Sounds-CLS) fluency probe, 63% of
the first graders will correctly identify 49 letter sounds from selected text in
one minute.
Attainable Students will master 49 letter sounds from selected text in one minute. .minute
Relevant 63% of students need mastery in letter sounds per m-Class scores and
solidifying foundational skills in Reading.
Time-Bound Goal will conclude at the end of the year Benchmark. We will assess weekly
and review all the data monthly. Our review would take place at the end of each
month. We will review the data for the previous week to note any trends
occurring before doing the data review at the end of the month for goal
updates.
Our first data review/comparison will be February 26 using the letter sound
probe and progress monitoring results.
SMART Goal 2
Specific Given an M-Class Amplify NWF (Decoding-WRC) fluency probe, 56% (well
below M-Class scores) of the first graders will correctly identify at least 11
words from selected text in one minute.
2
Measurable Given an M-Class Amplify NWF (Decoding-WRC) fluency probe, 56% of the
first graders will correctly identify 11 words from selected text in one minute.
Attainable Students will master 11 words from selected text in one minute minute
Relevant 56% of the first graders need to correctly identify at least 7 words from
selected text in one minute per mClass scores and to solidify foundation skills
in reading.
Time-Bound Goal will conclude at the end of the year Benchmark. We will assess weekly
and review all the data monthly. Our review would take place at the end of each
month. We will review the data for the previous week to note any trends

We had a running agenda that briefly outlined what was discussed in each meeting that
we used to remind ourselves of the focus of prior discussions along with allowing building
administration to see what we were working on.
Agenda Example:
Data Collection 2/26/2024
Team members printed out the latest PM scores of their class. The following data was gathered:
GOAL 1: Given an m-Class Amplify NWF (Letter Sounds-CLS) fluency probe, 18% (well
below m-Class scores) of the first graders are able to correctly identify at least 49 letter sounds
from selected text in one minute.
GOAL 2: Given an M-Class Amplify NWF (Decoding-WRC) fluency probe, 31% (well below
M-Class scores) of the first graders are able to correctly identify at least 11 words from selected
text in one minute.

Strategies that we will use across the grade level:
WIN
Heggerty
Fluency sheets independently, with partners and group
Reading Centers - focusing on letter identification and sounds - Teacher led
(Fluency sheets, reading passages, and reading logs are sent home weekly to encourage students
to practice the skills as well as parents being able to see their child’s progress.)

3/25/2024
Asked about ufli training. We were told that it would not be possible to implement that program
by the end of the year. Were offered to try the program for the last three weeks of the year. We
discussed the idea and have made the decision not to implement this program at the end of the
year.
Are we able to change the WIN group lessons? We would like to explore and discuss ideas of
what we could do to make the students successful.
Next week: We will be reviewing data and checking our goals. We will discuss what we need to
do to help our students succeed.
4/1/2024
Due to Spring Break, we have decided to collect more data during this week. We printed out
current progress monitoring data. We discussed the regression that we have seen with some
students. Next week, we will review all data and discuss strategies to enrich or provide
interventions for groups of students.
Data Collection 4/8/2024
GOAL 1: Given an m-Class Amplify NWF (Letter Sounds-CLS) fluency probe, 33% (well
below m-Class scores) of the first graders are able to correctly identify at least 49 letter sounds
from selected text in one minute.
GOAL 2: Given an M-Class Amplify NWF (Decoding-WRC) fluency probe, 60% (well below
M-Class scores) of the first graders are able to correctly identify at least 11 words from selected
text in one minute.
Letter Sounds Growth : 18% to 33%
Decoding Growth: 31% to 60%
4/15/2024
The team met to discuss the progress on Progress Monitoring students for the month of April.
The team targets to finish all Progress Monitoring on all students before the testing date.
Some team members have been seeing continued improvement on data based on Progress
Monitoring.

Example of Individual Student Summary shared at Parent/Teacher Conferences.
There are two pages. The first shows the most recent scores and explains why the
assessment is happening. The second page is suggestions for parents to do at home.
