12.2[13.2] The list of national and reference standards of temperature laboratory that required
intermediate checks are as following:

interval. See Annex 57A: Calibration Schedule for Temperature Calibration Standards.

31.[33.] Transportation Condition
32.[34.] The most critical operation is a transportation of the SPRT. Shocks and vibrations can
have an effect for the SPRT. Good packing eg. Suitable foam-padded packets is indispensable.
It may not be always true the commercial forwarders treat the package with necessary care.
According to the design of the SPRT and to maintain its smaller uncertainty it should therefore
be recommended to transport under the permanent control of an employee.

34.[36.] Time Schedule for Recalibration Dates for thermocouples
35.[37.] Each of the two national standards of thermocouples shall be calibrated externally in a three
years interval. See Annex 57A: Calibration Schedule for Temperature Calibration Standards
36.[38.] For the purpose of intermediate check between the two standards, the calibration schedule of
both standard thermocouples will have an interval with mutual updated calibration status for about
one and half years.

[59.1.1.1] Measurements at ice point for the standard platinum resistance thermometers
57.[60.] As an acceptable platinum resistance thermometer must be made of pure, strain- free
platinum, and it must satisfy at least one of the following relation
58.[61.]
[63.] Realize the ice point as per the procedure PRO-TH-001.Before being inserted to the ice bath, the
standard thermometers to be checked are roughly cleaned and rinsed with distilled water
59.1.2[63.1.2] Record the initial environmental conditions of temperature and relative humidity.
59.1.3[63.1.3] Measure at ice point and recorded the data using FRM-GEN/TH-001.
59.1.4[63.1.4] Record the final environmental conditions of temperature and relative humidity.
a) Anneal the two SPRTs or thermocouples at maximum calibration point with a maximum
and appropriate immersion depth for an hour.
d) Calibrate from lower to higher for SPRT and PRT and calibrate for thermocouple from
higher to lower temperature in liquid bath.
e) Correct the reading of SPRTs and Thermocouples using the latest calibration

59.1.6[63.1.6]
60.1.1[64.1.1] For SPRT: By thishe ice point intermediate check method, the permanent shift of
the resistance value at the ice point measurements shall be less than the maximum of 0.1%
compared to the last history data.
60.1.2[64.1.2] For PRT, Thermocoe aBy this mdeviations are determined after correction of the
instrument under check at 0 oc (Average ice point reading +correction at 0 at the recent –
Average ice point reading + correction at 0 in the last history data). The determined
deviation shall be less than or equal to 1/3 of the uncertainty of recent calibration
certificate of UDUT at 0 oC. c
60.1.3[64.1.3]
Note: When the last history data of standard does not available, the metrologits must
evaluate the result (professional judgment).
That is
Immerse the SPRT in the bath which is at room temperature at the appropriate immersionappropriate
immersion depth, minimum of 250 mm.
If the ice point resistance increases on annealing at 450 °C, the thermometer may be suffering
from an auto-catalytic oxidation that can occur on occasions. Annealing at 600 °C
may avoid this process.
Set the temperatures of the fluidized bath to reach at 600oC at a slower rate.
PRO
TITLE:
Switch OFF the bath and cool down with the inserted SPRT. This may prevent any thermal and
mechanical shock during the annealing.
Annealing followed by ice point measurement shall be carried out until better stability achieved
The permanent shift of the resistance value at the ice point measurements shall be less than the
maximum of 0.1% compared to the last history data of the SPRT.
Data shall be recorded regularly at every six month interval as well as before and after
transportation for external recalibration of the SPRTs. See FRM-PMT/TH-007 007Annex
1: Data sheet for the intermediate check at ice point.
As standard thermocouples are categorized in Tolerance class 2 for (reference junction at 0oC).
For type S thermocouple within the ranges of 0oC to 1600 oC and also for type B
thermocouple within the range of 600oC to 1700oC, the tolerance value is ±1.5 oC or
0.0025.t.
Data shall be recorded regularly at every six month interval as well as before and after calibration
