Good!
Lastly, what can you say about the balloons?

Everything we see and everything we touch is
called matter because matter is everywhere!
C. LESSON PROPER
Teacher’s Activities Learner’s Activities
This afternoon class, we will be going to discuss
about the phases of matter.
But first, let's define what is matter.
What is Matter?
Matter is anything that has weight and takes up
space. And all the things around us is a matter.
Even the air we breathe is also a matter.
D. DISCUSSION
Teacher’s Activities Learner’s Activities
Class, did you know that there are 3 phases of
matter?
Yes! There are 3 phases of matter namely; Solid,
Liquid, and Gas.
Let's discuss them one by one.
1. SOLIDS- relatively rigid, definite volume and
shape. In a solid, the atoms and molecules are
attached to each other. They vibrate in place but
don't move around.
So, I have here a stone. Please come in front and (The pupils will go to the front and touch the

(The pupils will describe the stone)
Now, describe what you feel?
Circle teacher.
Very Good! What is the shape of the stone?
Fumi?
Correct!
So, a stone is one of the examples of solids
because it has a definite shape that occupy A chair teacher.
spaces.
Who can give me another example of a solid
object?
Table teacher.
Jas?
Good Job Jas!
What else?
Mira?
Right!
(The pupils will come in front)
Always remember class, we can determine the

object if it is solid, if we can touch and see it.
2. LIQUIDS- definite volume but able to change
shape by flowing.
In a liquid, the atoms and molecules are loosely
bonded. They move around but stay close
together. Juice teacher.
I have here an empty cup and a water. Can you
please come in front?
What have you observed class? What happened Balloon teacher.
to the water inside the cup? Does the water take
the shape of the cup?
Very Good observation! No, teacher.
It only shows that the liquid takes the shape of the
cup.
Now, give me another example of liquid.
Kem?
Good Job!
3. GASES- no definite volume or shape. The
atoms and molecules move freely and spread
apart from one another.
What am I holding class?
Right! This balloon is filled with air inside and the
air is an example of gas.
Can you see the air class?
Yes correct! Air cannot be seen because it's
colorless but it can be felt. There are also gases
that can be seen like smoke and clouds.
