[2] HANDLING & PACKING

2.1 Storage

If relays are not to be installed immediately upon receipt they should be stored in a place free from dust and moisture in their
original cartons. Where de-humidifier bags have been included in the packing they should be retained. The action of the de-
humidifier crystals will be impaired if the bag has been exposed to ambient conditions and may be restored by gently heating the
bag for about an hour, prior to replacing it in the carton.

Dust which collects on a carton may, on subsequent unpacking, find its way into the relay; in damp conditions the carton and
packing may become impregnated with moisture and the de-humidifier will lose its efficiency.

03
2.2 Unpacking
Care must be taken when unpacking and installing the relays so that none of the parts is damaged or the settings altered. Relays
must only be handled by skilled persons. The installation should be clean, dry and reasonably free from dust and excessive
vibration. The site should be well lit to facilitate inspection. Relays that have been removed from their cases should not be left in
situations where they are exposed to dust or damp. This particularly applies to installations which are being carried out at the same
time as construction work.

2.3 Handling

A person’s normal movements can easily generate electrostatic potentials of several thousand volts. Discharge of these voltages
into semiconductor devices when handling electronic circuits can cause serious damage, which often may not be immediately
apparent but the reliability of the circuit will have been reduced.

The electronic circuits are completely safe from electrostatic discharge when housed in the case. Do not expose them to risk of
damage by withdrawing modules unnecessarily.

Each module incorporates the highest practicable protection for its semiconductor devices. However, if it becomes necessary to
withdraw a module, the following precautions should be taken to preserve the high reliability and long life for which the equipment
has been designed and manufactured.

1. Before removing a module, ensure that you are at the same electrostatic potential as the equipments by touching the case.

2. Handle the module by its front plate, frame or edges of the printed circuit board. Avoid touching the electronic
components, printed circuit track or connectors.

3. Do not pass the module to another person without first ensuring you are both at the same electrostatic potential. Shaking
hands achieves equipotential.

4. Place the module on an antistatic surface, or on a conducting surface which is at the same potential as yourself.

5. Store or transport the module in a conductive bag.

If you are making measurements on the internal electronic circuitry of equipment in service, it is preferable that you are earthed to
the case with a conductive wrist strap. Wrist straps should have a resistance to ground between 500k? – 10M? .

If a wrist strap is not available you should maintain regular contact with the case to prevent a buildup of static. Instrumentation
which may be used for making measurement should be build up of static. Instrumentation which may be used for making
measurement should be earthed to the case whenever possible.

2.5 Connections

To ensure the isolation of adjacent terminals, and to respect the security and safety instructions, an isolated sleeve must be used.

We recommended the following cable cross-sections.

- Auxiliary sources Vaux: 1.5 mm2

- Communication port Front USB: Cable Type ‘A’ to Type ‘A’, USB 2.0 Shielded.

Rear RS-485 Twisted shielded cable (2 wire)

- Digital Input circuits 1.0 mm2

CT wiring: The maximum wire cross section which can be used for the connector blocks (for current inputs and signals) is 7.6mm2 by
using non-insulated ring terminals. If a more significant wire cross-section is necessary, two wires can be connected in parallel,
each one terminated by a separate ring terminals, in opposite direction.

Wiring: CSDPR can be wired in three phase system with & without external CBCT as per following Connection diagram. Below
Figure shows the CT connection with External CBCT where CS2 (E4 terminal will get short with E1) & external CBCT will be
connected on E3-E2. Figure 2 shows the connection diagram with residual connection in which external CBCT is not required for
earth fault protection (short E4 & E2). Figure 3 shows the wiring connection, where earth fault protection is required (short E4 with
E3)

3.3 Battery Pack

CSDPR-V2 comes with internal Li battery pack, which energizes its LCD display to view and set the parameters at the time of initial
installation especially when the current/voltage is not available in the RMU. This battery has a life & so it is not meant for long future
use. Whenever operator is going at RMU site to fetch the fault record Or to edit/ view the settings, we recommend to carry external
USB power pack, which will get plugged to front USB of the relay. User can operate the relay using USB power source. We offer
rechargeable USB Power Pack as accessory; however user can use any USB power source to energize the relay from USB.

Note: CSDPR-V2 will not charge the battery

Replacement of Battery

3.5 Input & Output
3.5.1 Analog Input
The analog input signal of the currents as per the terminal description section 3.2.1, are fed to the protective device via separate
input transformers. The continuously measured current values are galvanically isolated, analog & digitally filtered and finally fed to
the analog/digital converter to get the True RMS value.

3.5.2 Digital Input*

2 Potential DIs are available for control.

1) Remote Block for 50/50N/51/51N & Unbalance Protection.

2) Remote Trip.

Note: Remote Block DI will work, only in energized condition of relay.

DI_1: Blocking the Protection Functions

When this DI is active from HMI & voltage is applied, it will block the selected protections such as OC/SC/Earth/Earth high-set/

U0>. The selection of protections for blocking is done from MMI. Blocking will remain active till the potential is available on DI
terminal.

DI_2: Remote Trip

This DI is for remote tripping operation. On applying the potential on this DI, it will generate a potential output for trip coil & latch
relay operation. This DI can operate even in absence of Auxiliary / Current supply.

3.5.3 Output Contact

In presence of Aux. Supply (Model Dependent):

4 Potential free contacts & 1 Potential O/P ([email protected] jouls/50 mSec ON Pulse). Duty cycle will depend upon the strength of
available current.

In presence of only adequate CT current:

2 Potential free latch contact and 1 Potential O/P ([email protected]/50msec ON Pulse). Duty cycle will depend upon the strength of
available current.

Note: Minimum single phase 20% of the rated current is must required by relay to get the trip energy. In case of three phase current,
relay will get the trip energy at 12% of the rated current. Relay is not self powered from earth CT.

* Model dependent

18
Assignment of the Output Relays

CSDPR-V2 has four output relays. Two latch relay is available in all models. Two extra programmable output relays(RLY1 & RLY-2)
available only with & in Auxiliary supply model. Relay reset operation can be configurable in automatic reset or manual reset mode
from MMI. In automatic reset mode relay will be reset after the current goes below the pick-up.

NOTE: *Auto/Manual option is not applicable for Latch Relay. Latch Relay is Manually RESET Supervision.

Current Transformers required for CSDPR

Selection of the CT suitable for the CSDPR is very much important because this relay is a self powered relay. It derives its internal energy
from external phase CTs. For proper operation, it necessary to select proper VA CT.

The Impedance to current characteristic of relay is shown in above graph.

From this graph, Impedance of relay at fault current of 1A i.e. rated current is 2.2. So the maximum Voltage required across relay
terminal for proper operation of relay is Vmax = 1 x 2.2 = 2.2V (at rated current).

4.2 Features & Characteristics

CSDPR is a self powered relay from phase current. For earth fault protection minimum average phase current of 20% is
must required. However in presence of aux. supply, relay can operate even at lower level of 5% earth current.

CSDPR-V2 offers 50/51/50N/51N/Unbalance/CBFP protections/TCS protection:

Over-current Characteristic: Two stage over-current protection (I>, I>>, Ie>, Ie>>) are available for phase & earth
protection under various characteristics: DEFT / VINV /EINV / NINV3.0 / NINV1.3

U0> (Unbalance Protection: 46):

This is provided by the relay tripping in phase unbalance greater than setting % difference in terms of maximum phase
current

U0>: [(IMAX-IMIN) / IMAX] ×100[%]

Circuit Breaker Failure Protection (CBFP)

The C.B. failure protection is based on supervision of phase current during tripping events. This protective function
becomes active only after tripping. The criteria is whether all phase currents are dropped to <5% x IN within set time of
tCBFP. If not, then CB failure is detected and the assigned relay is activated.

Trip Counter:

CSDPR-V2 includes on inbuilt CB trip counter which gets incremented after every trip of breaker. It goes maximum upto
16000 counts and after that it gets reset to zero again. It can reset through HMI.

Trip Circuit Supervision:

This feature detects any anomalies in the trip circuit with continuously supervising both pre closing & post closing
condition in the circuit breaker with the help of two Digital Inputs as feedback. It detects trip circuit supply failure
of circuit breaker, tripping mechanism failure like circuit breaker contact degeneration in wires, contacts and coils.

[5] COMMUNICATION (Model Dependent)

RS-485 Communication

The CSDPR-V2 provides an MODBUS RS-485 communication on rear port as per model selection. A4 (P1) & A5 (N1)
terminal is required to be connected on RS-485 twisted bus. This port is available for “MODBUS™” protocol. CSDPR-V2
relay has feature to transmit the data such as settings, measurements and faults to the SCADA system. For this
communication external auxiliary supply is required. A communication failure dose not affects protection function
