Quran chapter 36 Yasin with new English translation
Translated, written and read by: Sinead Brick Hassen
By the wise Quran, you are among the messengers on the straight path: a revelation
from the mighty and merciful. That you may remind a people whose fathers have not
been reminded, so they are careless. And the word has proven true about most of
them, so that they do not believe. He have placed chains around their necks and
they reach to their chins, so that they are with heads kept aloft.
And he made before them a barrier, and behind them a barrier, so he have covered
them and they can not see. So, it is all the same to them whether you remind them
or do not remind them, because they will not believe. You can only remind those who
follow Reminder and fears merciful in privacy. So make them happy because of their
forgiveness and noble reward. He will bring the dead back to life and he writes
down all of what they put forward and what they have left behind. He have been
recorded everything in a clear record.
And present to them an example: the people of the town, when the messengers came to
them. When he sent to them two, but they rejected them, so he reinforced them with
a third one saying: "We are the messengers sent to you." They said: "You are
nothing but human beings like us and merciful has not sent down anyone. You are
only lying." They said: "Our Lord knows that we have been sent to you and it is not
upon us except the clear notification. They said: "We consider you a bad omen. If
you do not desist, we will stone you, and a painful punishment from us will touch
you."
They said: "Your omen is with you. Is it just because you were reminded? Rather,
you are a transgressing people." And there came from the farthest part of the city
a man running. He said: "O my people, follow the messengers. Follow those who do
not ask you for a reward, and they are guided. And why should I not worship him who
created me? And to him we will be returned. Shall I take gods other than him? If
merciful intends harm to me, their intercession will be of no use to me, nor will
they save me. In that case I would be in a clear delusion. I believe in lord, so
listen to me." It would be said: "Enter the garden." He said: "If only my people
knew this. Because my Lord have forgiven me and made me among the honorable."
And he did not send down upon his people after him any host from the sky, nor he
would have done so. It was nothing except a single cry and then they all remained
silent. Oh, how regretful for the servants, because no messenger came to them
except that they used to mock them. Have they not seen how many generations he has
destroyed before them and that they will not return to them? And all of them will
be brought before him.
And a sign for them is the dead land. He revives it and brings forth from it the
grains that they eat. And he placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapes, and
caused springs to gush forth therein, so that they might eat of its fruits and
their hands have not produced it. So will they be thankful? Glory be to him who
created all in pairs of what the earth produces and of themselves and of what they
do not know. And another sign for them is the night. He removes from it the day,
and behold, they are in darkness. And the sun runs toward a resting place for it.
That is the decree of mighty and knowing. And he have ordained the moon in stages
until it returns like the old date stalk. It is not allowable for the sun to
overtake the moon, nor for the night to precede the day. But each of them move in
its orbit.
And a sign for them is that he carried their offspring in a laden ark and created
for them the like thereof that they may ride. And if he so wills, he can drown them
and there is no one to help them, nor will they be rescued. Except as a mercy from
him and a provision for a time. And when it is said to them: "Beware of what is
before you and what is behind you, that you may obtain mercy." And no sign comes to
them from the signs of their lord except that they turn away from it.
And when it is said to them: "Give from what God has provided to you." Those who
disbelieve say to those who believe: "Should we feed those whom if God willed he
would already feed them? You are nothing except in a clear delusion." And they say:
"When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" They wait for nothing
except one cry that will seize all of them while they are disputing. So they will
not able to make a bequest, nor could they be able to go back to their families.
And the trumpet will be blown and they will hasten to their lord. They will say: "O
woe to us. Who has raised us from our resting place? This is what was promised by
merciful and the messengers were truthful." There will be nothing except a single
cry, then behold, they will all be brought before him. Today no self would be
wronged at all and you will not be recompensed except for what you did.
The inhabitants of garden that day will be amused in joyful occupation. They and
their wives will be in shades and reclining on adorned couches therein. And they
will have fruits therein and whatever they request upon. Peace will be a word from
a merciful lord.
And now depart from one another today, o sinners. Did I not tell you, o children of
Adam: do not worship devil? Because he is your clear enemy. And that you worship
me: that's a straight path. And he has led astray many among you. Have you not
understood?
This is the hell which you were promised, so burn in it this day because you
disbelieved. This day he will seal up their mouths, so that their hands will speak
and their feet will bear witness to what they did. And if he had so willed, he
could have blinded their eyes, so they would run ahead to the path, but how could
they see? And if he had willed, he could have placed them in their position, so
that they would not have been able to go forward, nor could they go back.
And whomsoever he makes to live long, he reverse in creation. Will they not then
understand? And he have not taught him poetry, nor does it befit him. It is nothing
else except a Reminder and a clear Quran. That he may remind whomsoever is alive
and that he may prove to be true the word about the disbelievers.
Have they not seen that he created for them from among what his hands have made:
grazing cattle and so that they are their masters? And he have subdued them and
them they ride, and also eat them. And for them therein are other benefits and
drinks, so will they not be thankful? And they have taken other gods besides God
that perhaps they will be able to help them. They will not be able to help them,
while they are theirs obedient soldiers. So do not let their words grieve you. He
knows what they conceal and what they declare.
Has man not seen that he created him from a drop of fluid? Then, behold, he is an
open opponent. And they set for him an example while forgetting their creation. So
they say: "Who will bring to life the bones when they become decomposed?" Say: "He
who have created them the first time, will bring them back to life." He knows about
all his creation. He also made fire for you from the green trees and then from it
you kindle. Is he who created the heavens and earth not able to create the alike of
them? Yes he can. He is a creator and knows. His command, when he wills something,
is only that he says to it: "Be." And it becomes. So glory be to him in whose hand
is dominion over all things and to him you will be returned.
