Module 1: Defining The Self: Personal and Development Perspective or Self and
Identity
Lesson 1: The Self from Various Philosophical Perspectives
1. How would you characterized your SELF?
Answer: I am a kind of person who always put my self down against my parents. I always listen to
them. I don't exchange words to them when they're angry even if I think sometimes what's make
them angry is not my fault. I am a soft-hearted kind of person. I hate fights because my eyes easily
burst into tears. I used to feel sympathy for those whom I know is in need. I used to help my little
sisters and brother in their school works especially in making school projects. I am a helpful, kind, and
a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and cousin to my family and relatives. I am a sharing kind of person. I
used to share my thoughts, knowledge, skills, and talent to those who asked and need my help, even
voluntarily. I am an artistic person. I really love arts, especially those decorative kind of arts such as
making DIY's, designing house plan, gowns and dresses. I also love making paintings, portraits, slogan,
and poster. My skills and knowledge are my foundation in going through the path I'm walking. I am a
dreamer and I am doing my very best to be there in every part of my million dreams.
2. What makes you stand out from the rest? What makes you SELF special?
Answer: My existence that makes me unique is what makes me stand out from the rest. We all go
through experiences, and we react differently to them which make ourselves unique from the others.
God give us a reason why he makes us unique from others. And mine is the reason of my existence.
No one is exactly the same as me. Having skills and talent are what makes me self special. And it
makes me feel more special in times when I used it a way to help others. Yes I love helping others
because it makes me feel the essence of enjoyment. It is my kind of happiness. And for me it may be
the reason why I feel like I stand out from the rest and it is what makes me self special. For me, what
matters the most is what your heart says that may cause your happiness and others either.
3. How's your SELF transformed itself?
Answer: My self transformed itself through expanding to adorn further---the learnings, knowledge,
bravery, and positivity are the essential reason. Every pages of my life, myself gained information.
And in every experiences, I have learned so much. My knowledge from being infant to elementary
which made me discovered every little things. And until I stepped higher school which is high school
and graduated, I know I made myself transformed into a better knowledgeable one. And now that I
started becoming an educator, opening one more chapter for my dream, I know in this part I will do
my very best to surpass every challenges. And being a transformer of my own, I am ready to open
myself forward to receive every learnings and failures.
4. How is your SELF related to other selves?
Answer: In relating myself to other selves, I am tending to make a connection with both sides. And to
be victorious I am opened with both of this sides. Because if the other would not be open, it would try
to resist the effect of the other that may cause chaos. Just like of how we interact with one another.
We all know we have specific roles and strengths that we were specifically created for, and only each
individual personage is capable of. We all present to the world accordingly, when our role and
specialty comes up. And we expect this from one another, for the betterment and survival of the
whole. It is how a system works cohesively. It is how ourselves related to the selves.

Lesson 1 Output Activity…
1. Describe what happens to you when you fall in love: Physically, Emotionally, Mentally
(cognitively)?
Answer: There are lots of changes that may happen when we fall in love. It affects us physically,
emotionally, and mentally. Just like what I observed from the people around, I may be experience the
same when I fall in love. The changes physically are those weird blushing on the cheek. The way we
dressed up is not the same as usual, it's like we're getting more careful with our appearance because
there is this feeling of consciousness of how we look in front of that special someone. And the
changes emotionally are those feelings of happiness and sometimes loneliness of missing up, pain is
there, and nervousness also. There are also changes mentally. There are this lots of doubts inside our
mind. And also love turns us out more matured. There is this belief that true love does not
matter anything, for all that matter is what we feel. Love conquers all, it is what's real.
2. How can I be sure that self exists? What are the proofs that self exists?
Answer: Confirming that I have feelings such as I can feel pain, pleasure, happiness, nervousness, etc. I
am so sure that self exists. The proofs that self exists is the moment when you're aware of a thing, or
think a thing it exists in the realm of thought. Or even you do imagine some things it's an evidence
that self exists.
3. Is the self related to a Supreme Being (God), who am I in relation to a Supreme Being/God?
Answer: God is the creator of all things living or non-living. Everything and everybody is related to
Him, and so the self. Every body who is created by someone is self related to his/her creator.
I am one of the creation of the Supreme being. I am His daughter, a believer, a follower,
and discoverer of his word of wisdom. I am also His listener and a deliverer of his words to every
people who is willing to hear out. This is who I am in relation to Him.
4. In your own words, state what “self” is for each of the following Philosophers, after doing so,
explain how your concept of “self” is compatible with how they conceived of the “self”
A. Socrates
Answer: Socrates was more concerned with the subject, the problem of the self. Plato Claimed in his
dialog that Socrates affirmed that unexamined life is not worth living. According to Socrates that
every man is composed of Dualistic reality= body & soul this means that all individuals have an
imperfect, impermanent aspect to him and that is the body, while maintaining that there is also a soul
that is perfect and permanent.
B. Plato
Answer: Plato, Socarates’s student, basically took off from the master and supported the idea that
man is dual nature of body and soul. He echoed Socrates in literally everything.
C. Descartes
Answer: The self for Descartes is also a combination of two distinct entities, the cogito, the thing that
thinks, which is the mind and the extenza or extension of the mind which is the body. Descartes’s
view, the body is nothing else but a machine that is attached to the mind.
D. Hume
Answer: Self according to Hume, is simply “a bundle Or collection of different perceptions, which
succeed each other with an inconceivable rapidity, and are in a perpetual flux and movement in
reality, what one thinks is a unified self is simply combination of all experiences with a particular
person.
E. Ryle
Answer: He believe that the self is a pattern of behavior, the tendency or disposition for a person to
behave in a certain way in certain circumstances. He even suggests that the “self” is not an entity one
can locate and analyze but simply the convenient name that people use to refer to all the behaviors
that people make.
Explanation: My concept of self is compatible with these five philosophers in how they conceived of
the "self" through the way of how they measured in abstractions or anything else. The of the self is to
make proficient use of the things that are measured to live meaningful and gratefully. A beautiful
thing is just a higher-dimensional version of that thing for which one can be grateful. One thing may
affect another, creating a priority for one thing over another. The goal is to balance the things that
may be done with dimensions in light of the things that must be done with exceptions. And there also
maybe other ways to live. Ultimately the goal might be to collect a variety of experiences which have
a high priority. I call this a lawful priority.

Answer:
" Protect and Prevent (STD)"
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections spread from person to person during sex (vaginal,
oral, or anal) or close intimate contact. STDs also called sexually transmitted infections, or STIs. I am
going to raise awareness about STDs for everyone's prevention and protection. STDs is one of the
health concerns in the community. So for the people's awareness I am creating this plan for to
increase people's awareness about STD and HIV screening, especially among young adult. It has an
opportunity to raise awareness and encourage people to rethink outdated steroetypes, changelle
myths, and create a movement around education and positive action. Many young people may not
even know they have been infected because STDs don't always have immediate symptoms. However,
by not getting screened, people are at risk for serious health problems such as HIV, Cervical cancer, or
infertility. I want to increase awareness about STDs among residents, employees, and health care
workers to ensure their understandings about the importance of how and where to get screened and
what they can do to protect themselves.
