I have always been told, and tried to practice, the idea that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing
correctly. This is true both in the secular sense and in the spiritual sense. That is why the Mission Committee has sought to reschedule the Mission trip to Akron, Ohio. Time does not permit us to adequately prepare for such an endeavor. The July trip has been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. Thank you to all who sought to be a part of this. We have had two great church wide events over the last few weeks. My sincere thanks to those who cooked fish for the Fish Fry and to those who assisted in all the various areas needed to make the Church Wide Picnic a success. It is wonderful to experience the fellowship of Gods people at First Baptist Church. Like everyone else our church has been impacted by the economic times. Although we remain operating in the black, we are not meeting our budget and in the long run this will affect our operating budget. I know many of you have and are giving sacrificially to the Shell Annex fund and are continuing to give your regular tithe. Thank you for this. I want to encourage all of us to give our tithe first and then to our special projects. Let nothing go lacking in the Lords work. I look forward to seeing you this Sunday. VBS Worker Meeting Sunday, June 12 5:00 p.m. Fellowship Hall Dear Church Family: On Wednesday June 1 we (the church family) had a wonderful time at the Sports-plex as we grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and played softball afterwards. Yes, it was a great evening in spite of the heat. To those who worked in making that evening as great as it was, I say thank you for all you did to make it a success. It takes more than one person to accomplish the many task of ministry. It takes a team! A team of people who love and care for people and want to see the love of God carried throughout this community. There are many openings on the team. Do you want to be a part? Then ask God where is your place in ministry? Bro Earl Barron
A Piece of Cake A little boy was telling his Grandpa how everything was going wrong - school, girlfriends, sports, teachers, bug bites, etc. Meanwhile, Grandma was baking a cake and asked her grandson if he would like a snack, which, of course, he did. "Here, have some cooking oil." "Yuck," said the boy. "How about a couple of raw eggs?" "Gross, Grandma!" "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?" "Grandma, isn't there anything better?" To which Grandma replied: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves, but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful! God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart. Hope your day is a "piece of cake".
