First Baptist Builder Weekly Update

The document contains a parable about two men who purchased new cars. Both took great care of their cars at first. However, one man used his car payments over the summer to fund family vacations instead of continuing payments. As a result, his car was repossessed in the fall while the other man continued enjoying his purchase. The lesson is that financial commitments don't take a vacation.

A Present Day Parable Early in the fall of the year, two men bought new automobiles for their

families. Both men were very proud of what they had purchased and took great care in maintaining their vehicles. Fall turned to winter and winter to spring and the men continued to delight in their purchases. Summer arrived and vacation became a priority for both families. The first man planned his vacation keeping in mind his commitment to pay for his vehicle each month. The second man used his vehicle payments over the summer months to allow his family the extras of vacation. Alas, fall returned and the first man continued to enjoy his previous purchase. The second man however was devastated to find that his vehicle, the one he so delighted in, was being repossessed. The second man lamented that if he had only continued his commitment through the summer, he too would have had a joyous fall. The teaching of the parable: commitment, financial and otherwise, doesnt take a vacation. Last Sunday, I shared that the need for all of us to be better students of the Word of God. To help accomplish this, there will be a weekly memory verse in the Builder. Each Sunday you will be asked, as a congregation, to recite our verse of the week. This weeks memory verse is: Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God... NIV I look forward to seeing you this Sunday! Paul

SAINTS ALIVE CONCERTS The Saints Alive met last Monday May 23 and shared two concerts at Memorial Manor and Riverside Place Assisted Living Facility. Many of these residents are unable to physically attend church, and our presence gives them an opportunity to worship the Lord. It is heartwarming to see the joy on the faces of the residents as our choir sings new and familiar old songs. After each concert, our singers met and greeted each resident. Our trip to the Emerald Lakes RV Park, between Donalsonville and Colquitt was fun as well. They ran out of chicken but brought in pans of freshly fried goodness until we could not eat another bite. And just $5.00 per person! Thanks to all the Saints Alive members who were present to share special music last Sunday night. We truly miss our sister, Lou, and rejoice in the fact that her promotion has elevated her to membership in the greatest choir of all. Gods heavenly choir! HOMELAND. . . Is the title of the new patriotic musical to be shared in the Coliseum on Sunday, June 26. Singers, please plan to join us for our rehearsals on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoon bonus rehearsals. This Sunday, there will be a rehearsal for tenor and bass singers at 5:00 PM in the Cooper House. INSTRUMENTALISTS NEEDED There will be a rehearsal of instrumental music for brass and woodwind players who can play for the Patriotic Celebration. Bring your horn and meet at 7PM at Morningside Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 31st.
