IMPLEMENTATION OF FULL ADDER AND FULL SUBTRACTOR

USING 4:1 MUX CHIP

Objective: To study the arithmetic circuits, full adder and full Subtractor using
4:1 multiplexer.

LIST OF MAJOR EQUIPMENTS:

Sl No. Name Manufacturer Model No Specification

1. Power Supply ELNOVA E-61 0-30V,0-2V,5V,5A
2. Logic Probe Made in Taiwan 625 50MHz frequency range

Theory:

A digital multiplexer is a combinational circuit that selects binary information from one of
the many input lines and directs it to a single output line. The selection of a particular
input line is controlled by a set of selection lines. Normally there are 2 n input lines and n
selection lines whose bit combination determine which input is selected.
74LS153 is a 4:1 MUX Chip.

TRUTH TABLE:

IMPLEMENTATION OF FULL SUBTRACTOR USING 4:1 MUX CHIP

Observation Table
A B C SUM CARRY DIFF BORROW

Conclusion:

1) The enable pin of the MUX should always be connected to ground in

order to get the output.
2) 1STR and 2STR pins of 74LS153 chip denote the enable pin which
should also be grounded.
