Generalizability
How is the study generalizable? Is it to a specific What is the point/reason? (point)
population? It is to an experience? If it is, then how? What is your evidence of said point? (Where in

the children were chosen from pre-kindergarten and
kindergarten class from three different private
schools in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Additionally, the
53 adults ranged from 17 years to 30 years old, there
was 36 females and 17 males, and there were chosen
from the introductory psychology participant pool at
Eastern Ontario University. This shows us how the
participants were all different ages, gender, grades,
and environment which is important as the sample
becomes more reflective of the general population
thus making it more effective and easier to create
inferences for a large group of people.
Reliability
How is the case reliable? Do we get the same result What is the point/reason? (point)
after each repetition? Is the case repeatable? What is your evidence of said point? (Where in
This case is reliable due to its ability to be repeated the case do you see this taking place)
due to its standardized nature. It was a laboratory Why is your evidence connected to your point

participants, this was so both the children, and the
adults would have identical experiences or make
them as close as possible. This is essential to studying
the results, as it adds more credibility and trust to the
outcomes established as it is concluded that they are
certain and not a one-time occurrence.
Applicability
How is the case applicable? Do we see the events What is the point/reason? (point)
and conclusions from this case outside of its setting? What is your evidence of said point? (Where in

experiments? Why is your evidence connected to your point

conclusions can be seen outside of this experiment.
The research surrounds the idea of line-ups and
eyewitness testimonies which are common in the
judicial system and demonstrate the aim of the
study. This is what motivated Pozzulo et al. to
conduct the experiment as to determine why
children are more likely than adults to identify an
innocent person amount a line up where the culprit is
missing (false positive response).
Validity
Is the case a valid measure of its dependent What is the point/reason? (point)
variable? Is this case accurate to what it is observing What is your evidence of said point? (Where in

or measuring? the case do you see this taking place)
The case was somewhat valid in measuring the effect Why is your evidence connected to your point
of the independent variable on the dependent you’re trying to make? (elaborate)
variable. It lacked ecological validity because it was
conducted in a laboratory which means that it didn’t
feel real or like the natural environment/situation for
the participants. This affects the results of the
experiment as it may not reflect what would happen
in real life. The emotional experience would have
been different if they were faced with a real line up,
and thus the social effects are affected by these
emotional experiences. However, it was valid when
the researchers didn’t tell the adults the true aim of
the experiment or any information about the
purpose of the study, this all works together to
control any demand characteristics. This allowed the
researchers to be more confident that the
independent variable which was age was the only
variable that impacted the dependent variable which
is line up accuracy.
Ethics

friendly way. As well as giving the children the ability
to back out while constantly monitoring the children
to make sure they are in good condition, like if they
were fatigued, experiencing anxiety or stress. Also,
this study was conducted to improve lives and the
accuracy of the judicial system to ensure rightfully
convicted criminals are locked up and innocent
individuals are not.
