Some remarks on the local history of the 0. T. 0. A. ^

.vhen I noved from Wheaton, Iliinois‘*(the NationfflCHead-quartera of the Theosophical Society in
America) on March 31, 1966, I was net at the railroad train station in Chicago by Marc Lully,
now the Imperator of- the O.T.O.A,''and I-ir. HaroldHdltzman, who died one year ago, in February,
1976. At that time, due to the two. books written‘by- John Symonds, -Crowley was not considered to
be entirely acceptable to the mainstream oftheChicago occult conmnnity. This was due in many
respects to two factors, reported % the Symonds books, although there were other areas to
which exception was also taken. I refer mainly, however, to Crowley's homosexual component in hip
bisexuality, which found expression in his -XT? rites, and secondly there was the factor of his
supposed drgg-induced black nagic. .Those who studied or read him were generally suspected of |
being quite evil. I was to lecture publically on-his work, and lead his researches into even I
darker fields.
It took much work on the part of ;Marc and ffly8elf.-to .make Crowley understandable to the more
serious students -andfcabalistsi and*to-those-TOgtwsininded persons who were rather tepidly inter
ested in matters psrteinl&g • offshoots. Now, in 1977, Crowley has been
whitewashed and to-stti^ir hlai i s ^ e y w consider^! ‘c&ic: by students in certain quarters. In 1966,
you put your career as. a lecturer ;and- teacher onHthe line, if you as much knew of his existence.
I think that our first temple was'located at-;5330 South Greenwood Avenue, 3rd floor, rear. V.rs had
a rather large tensile room with the valls. decorated with various mirrors and an interesting altar
which is still in my possession, although the mirrors were ritually destroyed prior to my move
from that address, after a few months. There ve introduced elements of esoteric voudoo ritual,
rince I was required to provide temple work-for the members of the Haitian community in. Chicago,
who either adhered or had united to our system in Haiti or in Chicago. I think that it was about
mid-Sumer, 1966 when we began the OTQA work on a large scale, after building up the temple on
the inner side, as a structure of forces before.
As I was then the president of the Theosophical Lodge organised by H. P. Blavatsky in 138U and
lectured extensively, I met the then existing few.who comprised the leadership of the older Aehad
and Choronaon Club survivor groups. As they wished me to assume their direction end come into
thair f'urrent and because both bodies possessed an authentic tradition, I was i-jLtiated} conse
crated and became the sovereign authority in September, I966.
It was in August, 1?66 that I completed the working out of the Enochian system of .John Dse, and
established myself in the contacts necessary for further development and extension of Jhe irpor-
tant rystem. In September, 1966, our temple was officially moved to 5£l!.v S<">uth Fla.ckst.one, 3uite
326, Trom the Greenwood address. It was to remain here until Marc moved to30 ist Division,
Suits where the OTQA temple is now located. This last move occured inthe middle I07O3.
at the Elackstono address, we were able to develop the inner plane research work, and the very
special initiations to such a degree that never again would it be necessary or oven possible to
turn b-ick to previous levels of understanding and magical prowess. It was here that I developed
the technique whereby every magician would be both a seer and an oracle, a view not widely held
prior to this, but which has become more commonplace in recent years. This address also served as
the basis for the operations of the Rite of Memphis■^•lisraim and it was here that the Chicago base
for the operations of La Couleuvre Noire began to manifest its own power ~?ne. Also, at this
address I began to write the papers for the HSR, which were based upon our weekly research reports
nnd thus reflected a living tradition. That first three years of course work were written Yvre,
while the fourth year course vraa written at my temple located at 5120 South Hyde FarV- Tllvrt.,

along the linos of several shamanistic systena.
It had b?en decided to keep the work of the OTQA separate from that of LCN for +he various reasons
deriving from the shamanistic character of the later and the closeness of the former to the Fore
Hermetic and Golden Dawn.oriented order of the An^ma Mundi. For this reason — a reason ”hich
remainr valid to the present day — two separate temples must be maintained without any confusion
of the currents. But this matter need not concerrutne period under examination.
After lecturing and teaching much at the IJilliam Davidson Memorial Library, a centre devoted to
occult research into homeopathic medicine and astrology, I was asked by the curator of that schnol
to jive two afternoon lectures on "The Magical Experiments of Aleister Crowley", which T. ra-o -in
November 6 and December 18, 1966, at 3s30. I have the programme for these two lectures, which resHs
as follows: "Uhat were some of the methods of magic used by this very famous British occ’iltist-dur-
inj his long career? What were the patterns of emotional confl ict and what of their significance

today?” And on December 18, the-audience would-learn ajirtxt "Crowley's investigation of the
thirty ethers (astral and mental Worlds) may;be considered the beginning of a new a^e in occult
research. What is the. significance-ofthis feat for students, of homeopathic medicine? Hoes
Crowley's 'raagick' imply a future-medical science which unites psychology with homeopa thy
through the use of psychedelic -drugs?” The#* result of this lecture series tras to stimulate an-
interest in the scientific possibilities of Crowley's work,!a3 distinct from the more religious
interpretations of his symbolism. Th6se lectures proved to be quite successful and yet had a
somewhat limiting effect. For they restricted the number of? doors which would henceforth invite
me to lecture and even the Theosophical Society authorities began to be less and less willing
to have me address their societies and this attitude spread to various related groups. Another
factor must also be added to this, line of restriction and that was the fact that I had started
an a programme of lecturing on Voudoo. Very conveniently, therefore, my Voudoo and Crovlsy
public work kept me from having to^take, time^from .the inner work to spend on platform service,
and because I had become sOTewhat*hotorious/^I irasn't bothered as much as I had been rhen I
presented "safer" subjects. However, my own^Qieosbphical Lodge asked me to lead a lod^e study
clasp on "The System of Aleis^er-Crowley" during June and August, 196?, on Thursday evenings at

About this time, we were contaci»d by certain thelemic groups in California, which required that
I send H.?rc out there e3 my personal legate. Ue was already the Vice-President of our ?.Z.
lodjff 3nd so in August, 1967, when we were invited to a meeting in the desert country of Yucca
Valley, he went out there before me- to receive the submission of those magical orders who wished
to unite with our OTQSl, as it was then being led. Aften entrusting my lectures to one of the
more capable brothers and suspending the research for about a week, I joined them in the desert,
where nearby lived Karl Germer's widow. On August 10, 1967, I accepted the sovereign authority
of tho only authentic branch of the 0T0 in California, then existing in small scattered groups
of !J«?metic students. Exchanging initiations, they received shamanistic content, and I united
with the supreme authority as their chief and HGA. This celebration, however, did not i-ply any
political unification a matter which I strongly insisted upon in order that their traditions
nnd ours should be free to develop. I vms simply to be their spiritual leadership and they
were free as gnostics and magicians to continue their own lines of work, which due to several
historical factors were significantly different from our own. However, I insisted that "he
hiera of the current in California become the personal possession of the GH of Marrrhis-.‘'isr?ir..
The California adepts agreed to this and so the physical foci of the current remain +.n this
day in my temple.
It was decided that Marc should take a more active rolein the work of the CTO.*. Toth the
American and the Haitian adepti were very interested in this line of development. Consequently,
as a further sijn of union between the orders and systems, derived from some thelesvLc cormection*
Marc was consecrated as the QBL Alchemist Church Bishop of Illinois by thepresent head -k *he
A.*.A.*, in California, T..rilliam V.r. l/ebb. At that time, his order was knownas the QBL Alchsmist
Church and it was one of the very few gnostic and alchemical thelemic churches derived from the
Old Catholic apostolic succession of bishops. This occured on November H, 1967. This act ended
tho first phase of our work in Chicago. The next phase began immediately with the arrival of
cert-in very hi?h ranking Haitian adepts f>nd the opening of the Voudoo and spiritist temple.

of this body of initiates. The construction of this group has beenplanned for
some time and it is now ready for us to unite our minds and present our
making a pioneer effort which will substian our teachers endeavors.in a most
wonderful and unique manner. It is my wish that this inner ciccle of tho
Monasterys brothers and sisters will grow and provide a medium of communication
for all interested students throughout the world. Being asked to participate
in this publication is an indication that our personal efforts in the arts and
sciences of Magick have been noticed by the Hierarchy of Light. We should all

thanks are extended to Ken Ward for taking this dynamic approach to provide

INSTRUMENTUM ad INFINITUM
The mandala of tho Cosmos is characterized in the picture is the most fundamentally
important instrument for all students of the occult. This particular type
is implied in all of the Monasterys lessons and derived therefrom. Within its1
domain is included all of the Major magical and mystical movements in tho
history of mankind. Its'basic simplicity lends itself to a vast wealth of
inner rosourcos. Only such a varied and all inclusive system astthis could on+ail
*he absolute evolution of the student. In the aeon of Horus and Hoppacratos
a new and refreshing cosmology is being revealed to men for the first time. Now,
this vital energy is available to revive the dark mysteries of antiquity and bring
them to life*
Using this pantacle as a map of universal consciousness I have found it possiblo
to delve into all these systems and bo welcomed there. Pecause I have not adhered
to any one dogma, they have all been accosable for my inspectionat my willing.
As initiates of the Seven Rays wo have all had many experiences and followed a
variety of different, paths all leading to the same goal, Supreme Enlightenment;
TM s mandallum creates our own path and sustains our magickal journey towards
*his Ultimate Experience. It reveals our past as well as tho future oven if wo
are not consciously aware of its' unfolding. It is a personal expression of our
collective essenco, which is the primordial light shared by all beings, e.g. one
light many lamps. As we begin to accopt the responsibility of our evolution by

Absolute mind is stimulated and responds to this "intunedness" and sends back or
reflects the required set of onergio impulses via materializations o<* situations.,
information, contacts and instruments necessary for spiritual progress.
Our micro-mind is an intentional operation of tho cosmic ones, "an act of soporation
ror tho sako of union". As tho viols of samsara dissolve we are now able to
directly communicate with tho Absolute Mind and become aware that wo have always
had available to us, that which we havo been searching for in our quest.
It is possible to evaluate tho present position of our consciousness and determine
Ahe future progross according to how naturally wo aro able to sense the "magic’:
of this moment" and how this experience reflects into our daily lives. Obstacles
as well as satisifaction come from tho same source. Wo create "hem from nowhore.,

Oo what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
The motto must chose by the member as a part of his search for the Higher Self.
This choice could be seen as fortuitous but it is the True Will that does it
the most of the time.
Some time ago when I was reading a Hermetic book I found asentence-axiom that
impressed my mind. After, when I began my magical work I adopted thissentence
as my motto which initials are S. A. T. I do not want to reveal the words that
my motto is composed of because I think they must be known only by my Masters
or Superiors in my magical work, but I shall do a qabalistic study in order to
show a lot of things about the occult meaning of my soul's aspiration.
The numerical value of SAT is 701g(Shin * 300, Aleph = 1, Tau = 400) which has
the same value as AN ( using Nun as a final letter (Aleph * 1, Nun * 7 0 0 ) ,
AN in Hebrew means the position of something in space-time: Where? When? We can
note here that SAT and AN joined give the word SATAN.
S - Shin Tty value 300, meaning "tooth". In the most of the old alphabets, the
letter is associated both with fire and the serpent because of its hissing sound.
Shin means "tooth" and teeth break up food in order to prepare it for assimilation
like the power symbolized by this letter tears down the limitations of form. Fire
acts similarly in Nature.

Another meaning of Shin is "wheel", the wheel that imparts motion and change
in the universe. The qabalist Carlo Suares says "shin is the prodigious cos
mic movement, the movement of all existence". On the Tree of Life it is Path
31 which is called in the Sepher-Yetzirah "Perpetual Intelligence, because it
rules the movements of the Sun and the Moon, according to their constitution
and causes each to gravitate in its respective orb."
Shin is the third Mother letter of the Hebrew alphabet and represents the ele
ment Fire. The dictionary defines "fire" as the invisible active phase of com
bustion, manifested in light and heat. Esoterically, Fire is the great crucible
in whose nature are all things purged of their impurities, in order to return
again to their simple and pristine state. The drops from all it embraces, and
the essence of the thing becomes revealed.
There are also references here to the Phallus, firstly the three Yods on the
top of the letter are the triple phallic force. Then, its value 300 repeats the
threefold symbolism, for 100 is the sum of the initials of the Phallus and Kteis,
the magical instruments that create the phenomenal world.
The letters of the word for Shin are Shin, Yod and Nun: Shin (fire) - 300, Yad
(Phallus) B 10 and Nun (Scorpio, tha Martian force proceeding from the genital
organs) - 50 which total 360, the complete circle, the fulfillment of a Cycle
or an Aeon.
In the Tarot, Shin correlates with Atu XX "The Judgment" in the old pack and
"Aeon" in the new one. In the old design can be seen an Angel blowing a trumpet,
attached to which is a flag, bearing the symbol of the Aeon of Osiris. Below
him the graves are opening, the dead rising up. There are three of them. They
are Osiris (Father), Isis (Mother) and Horus (Child). In the new pack, there
appears at the top of the card, the body of Nuit, the star-goddess. Below, Hadit,
the winged globe of fire and as a result of the marriage of these two, the child
Heru-ra-ha, the double god with his active form Ra-hoor-khuit and his passive
form Hoor-paar-kraat. We can see here the Great Mystery of ThBlema, the magical
formula mentioned in the Book of the Law.
The second letter of the motto is A • Aleph value 1 , the first letter of
the Hebrew alphabet and means Ox. There is no apparent link between Aleph being
an aerial symbol and an ox, nevertheless it can be noted that there is a simi
larity between the Taurus symbol and the Sinai letter A. The alphabet was desig
ned during the Age of Taurus, which covered a period roughly between 2000 to 40QU
B.C.. It was an agricultural era wt^ere oxen were a source of motive power and

strength and it is for this reason that the ox became symbolic of the Principle
of Life and Truth. The name for this Principle is in Hebrew RUACH (T7^i*l‘“)) and
its literal meaning is "Breath". It is equivalent to the English word Spirit,
the Latin word Spiritus, the Greek word Pneuma, and the Sanskrit word Prana. All
these words mean air or breath, the cosmic energy which animates every living
creature. Suares says Aleph is "the abstract and inconceivable Principle of all
that is and is not in the universe".
In the Sepher Yetzirah Aleph is Path 11, "the Fiery or Scintillating Intelligen
ce, wherewith one comes face to face with the Cause of Causes".

This letter relates to the element Air as the Divine Life-Breath of God (RUACH)|
The Eastern Tradition says the universe's creation begins with one breath of Bi
ma; in the Bible, God insufflate the Life to Adam by His Breath. Other myths se
the universe arises from a Cosmic Egg which we can relate to the 0 of the Atu
Fool", the Tarot card of Aleph. The same word "fool" comes from a Latin word "f
llis" meaning both "bag of wind" and "bellows".
The letter Aleph spelt in full (Aleph, Lamed, Phe) becomes 111, which is the nu<
ber of the title of Kether, Death and Obscurity showing that the mystic meaning
of death is a formula of unity. Ill is also the value of EHBEN KAN 5 ^ 3
(precious stone) and ACHAD HU ELOHIM V T 7 ^ T ( O n e is He, God).
The third letter is Tau « T J"), value 400, the last letter of the Hebrew alphabj
whose meaning is a signature or mark, represented usually by a crass. This letti
is called Tau in Greek and it can be related to the Egyptian Ankh. The meaning
this letter signifies perfectioh, the signature or culmination of a series or
cycle. The element Earth is also represented by Tau, the Creation. Astrological!

Saturn rules this letter, the planet of inertia, concreteness, profundity and j
weight, and this is the reason Carlo Suares describes it as " the cosmic re sis-*
tance to the LifB-Breath that animates it".
therein". In the Tarot, Tau is assigned to Atu XXI: The Universe. This card is
last stage of the Fool's journey - the goal of the Great Work At this point, 1
one finishes the journey and begins the Path of Return.
Tau is also a symbol for the god Set and initials of the O.T.Q. which show two j
eyes: the Ra-Hoor-Khuit eye and the Hoor-paar-Kraat eye, the Tau being the tree
□f the will whose branches transmit radiation from positive and negative poles. |
We have a clear idea now of meaning the word SAT and we can say that it is the -
Essence (AT) of the Spirit of God (S - Shin - RUACH ELOHIM) creating a complete g
cycle of existence, because AT is also the beginning and the end, containing tha
first and the last latter of the alphabet, similarly Alpha end Omega in the Gree
alphabet and the A and Z in ours. It is the Hermetic AZOTH. In the Eastern Tra-«
dition we find too this word that means Truth, Reality, Divine Essence or the ]
Essence of Brahma.
Now I am going to explain^ something about my Seal. Last summer I decided to desi
a seal that would symbolize m ^ magical individuality. It was the time I consecri
ted my Shakti and I think this was a factor very important in the design of the a
seal. I
My Shakti took in her consecration the motto AINA ^ 3 - 131. But AINA is
also AIN 3 Nothing, the first Veil of the Negative Existence, and A = Eyl
In other words it means "The Eye of the Nothing". Nut AINA can also be written I
AJNA that is the name for the sixth chakra. "AJnachakra or the Third Eye, or Eye^
of Siva, the channel of direct spiritual energy, and although it is normally seal
led after puberty, it may be re-opened by constant self-inquiry" (The Magical
Revival pag. 77) ^

Perhaps this is the reason I choose the "Eye in the Triangle" to place in the
center of the Seal. This Eye is an old symbol. Ths triangle represents the triple
divine manifestation: Kether, Chokmah and Binah; Nuit, Hadit and Horus; the lettei
Shin; the element Fire; the Ob, Qd and Aur; and others. The Eye inside the trian
gle has a twofold reference to the letter Ayin. K. Grant says in "Cults of the
Shadow" that Ajnachakra "is sometimes referred to as the third eye, the seat of
the mystical vision of things unseen; of other dimensions and extra-terrestrial
planes of existence. The qabalistic letter-graph of ajna is ayin, meaning an eye.
When this eye opens the world of appearances is said to disappear, revealing in
its stead the substream of Reality upon which is reared the edifice of phenomenal
illusion".
But the eye is also the symbol for Kteis (vulva) there is very important associa
tion between Ayin-Ayin ■ Kteis-Ajnachakra. In the page 11 of the same book Mr. Grc
says: "The seat of the Fire Snake is in the vulva which is - as it were - the se
cond eye. This eye also is ayin whose number, seventy, represents the material
aspect of seven, the number of the Primal Goddess".
Behind this triangle there is another in an inverse position because there are
always two poles in the manifested universe, the positive and the negative.
The other symbol in the Seal is the Serpent eating, its tail or Ouroboros. This is
an old symbol for Eternity and the Infinite. It adopts a cirsular shape symboli
zing the Nothing or Ain and this is the reason it eats its tail.
In the Cult of Thelema there is another symbolic aspect of the serpent and it is
common with the Yezidi, the Obeah and the Tantriks: the Serpent power or Fire
Snake called Yezod by Yezidi, Ob by the Obeah, Kundalini by the Tantriks and
Hadit by Thelemites. It is also the "Radioactivitas sexualis" of the Monastery
of the Seven Rays.
In Liber AL vel Legis I, IB, it says, " B u m upon their brows, o splendrous ser
pent!". .Ve must remember here that the serpent was a symbol of majesty far the
aid Egyptian kings and we know the meaning of SAT in Hebrew is "majesty". This
verse of Liber AL shows the need to ascend the Serpent to Ajnachakra from the
base of the spine in order to accomplish the Great Work. This Great Work is
symbolised clearly in this Ssal.
Finally we have the phallic meaning of the serpent, which is represented in the
deal as the Phallus being with the Kteis the formula for initiates of the IX»
of the O.T.O. (P + K « T - 0). '■

After a suggestion by Michael Bertiaux, I decided to make one exception to the rule that
only participating members of the O.T.O.A. will receive INSTRUMENTUM. That is, I have
decided to send Mr. Kenneth Grant a copy of each issue. Mr. Grant, as most of you will
know has written extensively about our work in his book Cults of the Shadow and his
forthcoming book The Nightside of Eden. I am sure no one will object to this action on
my part. This, will be the only exception to the rule.
Also, since publishing Vol.I No.II of INSTRUMENTUM I have decided to ask for contributions
lo cover the cost of xeroxing and mailing of each issue. Many have already done so and
I thank them kindly. It costs me 54 a page to xerox and approximately 25$ to mail each
iusue. Vol.I No.I was 27 pages, therefore, 0.05 X ?7 or 1.35+ 0.?5 = $1.60 would
cover the cost. This issue has 25 pages, therefore, i" would cost 0.05 X 25s 1.25+
$ 1 .50. I am sure no one will mind sharing the cost as it would get quite expensive
for myself after a few issues.

This communication as well as the communication received this morning from the praetur-
human communicator forms the dialectical basis of the physics of our system. The cate

Our students at the present tine are probably being asked to specify their
support of several rather dogmatic connitments, each of which seems to be
vying with all of the others for the student's loyalty, for what it is
worth. Several of our students have asked ne what do I believe in or what
3hould they believe in or how should they decide in terns of these various
dogmatic claims.
My own view is quite uninportant in these natters, because it is sinply my
own point of view, based on subjectivities of reason, thought, use of dis
course, and other factors. It is only important to nyself and to ny circle.
However, I do not think that we should say, especially in the OTOA, where
there appears to be too much dogmatism, that such and such a view is right,
that such and such a point of view is correct, true, worthwhile to follow,
or even important. May I suggest that we stop making recommendations to or
about anybody.
Many people come into our work fron various types of religious backgrounds.
It was never the intention of any Teacher known to me as a member of bur
Hierarchy that a person coning to us would have to change his religious
or political point of view in any sense. For if soneone where asked to make
such a change what were they supposed to change to, if anything? And who would-
bo the person to make the suggestion?
May I offer a suggestion to those who are so certain that they know anything
about anything. May I nost hunbly suggest that such persons be very much pre
pared to provide their own system of initiations, their own magical repertory,
their own temple line of succession (assuming that they believe in these
matters) because whatever they are doing is not in any sense sanctionedby
ny authority as Archbishop of Psychiana, of the Vilatte Succession.
I get quite a lot of letters and because I do, I an very well inforned con
cerning the existence of dogmatic groups, each of then trying to get followers
and then use these followers to inplenent the ego-tripping psychoses of the
leadership. If anyone wishes to belong to such groups, which they nay find
helpful, let then leave my OTOA and quickly adhere to what they prefer. The
OTOA, which is my personal possession is not to be shared with such persons.
Many people in various magical groups, and I will not name any, have come
fron backgrounds of religious fanaticism, later upon a superficial reading of
Crowley or Blavatsky, they suffer the loss of their total religious outlook.
Yet deeply housed within their subconscious minds if that fanaticism, devoid
of content -- because of loss of faith — existing as a pure energy field.
The next thing that they do is to give content to that fanaticisn and become
Crowley or Blavatsky fanatics, giving dogmatic utterance.
Guch persons should not be in the OTOA, because there are other more appropriate
groups for the expression of their viewpoint. The OTOA is not dogmatic in
that sense, and one need not hold any beliefs of any type. The OTOA is a very
positivist, critical, and analytical group of metamethodolegists. It is the
Vienna Circle of siagick. If Michael Bertiaux, because of his writings, is the
Wittgenstein of the OTOA, theS the Archbishop of Psychiana is the Otto Neurath
of the OTOA.
We do not hold any orthodoxy save those to be found in the protocols of exact
netanethodology. Positivist consciousness is our absolute point of reference
in all natters. Any conflict with this point of view should suggest that the
person having the conflict belongs elsewhere than in the OTOA. Belief in any
school of magic is unscientific, since belief is not a natter of nethod, but
an extraprocedural matter. At the sane tine, we do not deny the right of any
nembex the OTOA to hold any point of view which pleases him outside of the
OTOA, because the OTOA was never intended to be a substitute for even popular
versions of Christianity, such as Calvinism. But in the OTOA our concern is
with the purity of nethod. Let those who wish to consider thenselvee as being
members be so advised.

Timelessness
V/e ascend the velvet-clad stairs- red in' their glorious beauty, the
white walls towering hundreds of1feet above the two hundred fifty-six
stairs. Yes, gently curving upward do we ascend the magnificent softness
as our naked feet tread softly upon the cushiony material. Our bare skins
tingle with renewed virginity as we ascend, while the soft white light
envelops us within its warm embrace*
So slowly do we ascend, thee and I, so slowly do we look upwards, each
of the two hundred fifty**&ix an ecstasy of life that we dare not breathe
aloud to disturb the emotions we feel as each velvety stair causes new
excitement within our fluttering* hearts*
ur minds reel drunkenly from the intoxicating touch of the softness
beneath us and the richness surrounding our nude bodies. Hours pass
through eternity as we approach our destiny at the top and the walls
towering influence makes our loves insignificant.
And slowly we now approach the stairs- last portals. Hoi; light do we
now feel as tho* all heaviness has departed our bodies and ■we turn our
heads and peer below at the great distance we have climbed, and our
breaths become shortened, for now, there below, we see winding, like a
great, red serpent, the ladder we have climbed to reach the portals and
wo sink to our knees, now about to enter the doorway.
The entrance to the house is large, that we are insignificant within
its environs; we shrink back not to enter, for we are as fleas on an
elephant, the doorway so gigantic; but shortly we see the soft-blue light
healing our fears and hand in hand, we enter the hallway*
The carpet, so blue, blue as the deepest blue; so soft, soft as the
wings of doves. Our feet sink lovingly down while our glances gather
within the mind the soft blue walls that project your loving mind and
the warm light gathers us within its protection and soothes and caresses
our naked bodies and bestows within our minds a peace of eternal love.
And slowly v/e move gently down the great, blue hall and above us.

doves vibrates with your eternal beauty and all-encompassing love for
all in your domain, and the misty blue light enfolds us within its
caresses and slowly we move towards the far end of the hall*
The overhead, myriad stars throw their rays of life to us as our souls
absorb the energies and soon, too soon, we reach the final entrance to
i.Le Kingdom; and once again, we turn our' heads and look back at the blue
■allway and we gasp, and grasp the significance of time and distance we
luive travelled to reach our final destination*
With no afterthought, we enter the room and immediately we are engulfed
within a blackness, a total blackness that quickly subjects cur total
being into nothingness; there is no up, no down; no sides; there is no
escape; we cannot return once more through the portals; but we are not
afraid.
For soon, upon a distance, we know not the distance, a redness
and we carefully guide ourselves towards this ray of hope and our feet
touch nothing-, and yet, we sen^e something, but of no material reality;
we are not afraid. Closer we approach the redness and, suddenly, our ey oz
a blazed with enormous size of the window, the window of redness with
a brilliant, dazzling white cross within its redness. We cannot gaze at
the redness or the whiteness*
We continue moving, or we think of movement; are we mcving or is the
blackness moving; we know not; we are not afraid*
The blackness again totally absorbs our being and we see we are
nothing, only darkness. Our central being is nothing-without the light;
only blackness permeates our being and now we crave, nay, cry, for the
light to come back upon us.

Soon, we see ahead a redness and we, or it, approaches, ITow the
blackness begins to take shape and then the shape is a tremendous, nay,
endless room, the height, width, or length, stretching endlersly to
eternity, and we, who are blackness, cringe within our puny being; but
-.•/e are not afraid, for v/e know the light will be coming again*
On the side, which side v/e know not, are red windows, hundreds, nay,
thousands, stretching beyond our eyes range, with white crosses. Then
off in the distance, wc see a brilliant light and our eyes begin to blink
and tears, from the intensity of the light, come from our eyes. And yet,
still closer the light approaches, or v/e approach the light; fear mingles
with awe; will blindness come upon us as the light now engulfs our total
being, material and inner.
The fire from the light intensifies and our being begins to explode
into thousands, millions, no billions, of tiny beings, separate, not
joined together, moving out, yet connected; the total being is now among
the stars, streaming out among the universes, yet still within the
blackness.
We know now the essence of the light, for we are now the light. We
sense the magnificence of the light, the eternal beauty that emanates
from its central core of love. We are one*
Then v/e are our total beings again-and back in the blackness we stand
before a throne. The throne has a black platform, perhaps 200 feet
square; and on this black platform is a red platform, perhaps 100 feet
square; and on this red platform is a white platform, perhaps 50 feet
square.
Upon this white platform, we see two chairs, nay. not chairs, but
large sitting objects. Each has three legs, upon which rests a flat.

object, rests a soft cushion, covered by red velvet. On each side of the
flat, hard object are two supportive arm rests, cushionee and covered
also with red velvet* There is a backrest on each of the two objects,

Each chair, as we now call them, are large, large enough to hold 20
normal, average-sized people* The chairs are empty* We kneel down, not
knowing what to expect. We v/ait and wait.
Slowly, the blackness of the room fades and v/e find ourselves once
again at the bottom of the two hundred fifty-six stairs, climbing,
climbing. Our minds tell us something, tell us something, but v/e know
n o t what* The strangeness of the stairs is no longer the same, for v/e
have been here before* But now, we sense, no, we realize, that there are
only two hundred fifty-five stairs*
j-ea, now our being knows the meaning of the stairs, hallway, and
black room. Yea, our being understands the meaning of the return to the
stairs and the one less stair* Yea, our total ‘being knows now the future
of its being and w e again begin the ascent with the knowledge that when
the stairs stiorten, so will the hallway, and so will shrink the room,
until finally the one stair will enable us to perceive the reality of
the throne and the veils 6f reality will become as tissue paper— we know
the true essence of ‘beauty a n # love surrounding the entire total being
of all total beings— — yes, we begin the ascent once aga ! perfectio

Concerning the
Ordo Templi Orientis

Certain individuals have questioned the authority of the O.T.O., as re-organized by Kenneth Grant in accordance
with the evolution of the 93 Current transmitted by Aleister Crowley from Shaitan-Aiwass in 1904 e.v.
The vitality of a magical current may be assessed by its products. It should be evident to all but the voluntarily
blind, therefore, that the various shoots of the original O.T.O. —bar one —have, by this criterion, proved themselves
virtually impotent.
Readers should consider the fact that all books on Crowley that appeared prior to Grant’s Typhonian Trilogy
reveal an almost total ignorance on the part o f their authors as to the three major concerns of theBook o f the Law.
We refer to: 1) the importance of extra-terrestrial influences and the necessity for establishing proper contact with
them through the magick o f the New Aeon; 2) the mode of their invocation by magical means; 3) the science of die
kalas (psycho-sexual emanations of fully polarized male-female organisms) which lies at the heart of the Book o f the
Law and which is the suB;tratura of all its teachings and the key to the curious cyphers (literary and numerical) which
abound in its pages. In point of fact, no books to this day —with the exception o f Grant’s — treat of the most secret
magick of the kalas and their use in the psycho-sexual mysteries of the 93 Current.
Read Cammell, Hutin. Regardie, Symonds, et al. We repeat: no book published before 19721 contains so much
as an allusion to these matters. Whilst Symonds was jeering at Crowley and his antics in The Great Beast, and in
various introductions to Crowley’s posthumously published works, Grant was pursuing researches that were to supply
the vital keys to an initiated understanding and direction of the 93 Current as transmitted through the Book o f the
Law.
In the previous issue of this newsletter, and in the introduciton to the new O.T.O. edition of Liber AL,2 Crowley
himself has been quoted in respect of the changes which he knew would have to occur if the O.T.O. were to survive as
a fully functioning vehicle of the 93 Current. It was Grant who ultimately effected these changes. But in tearing down
the old and rigid system of graded advancement — which depended mainly on fees and favours —he called down upon
himself an avalanche of protest from those who were in a position to profit materially from the obsolete system.
Karl J. Germer, having proved himself blind to the implication of Crowley’s letter to him,8 failed to understand
and accept them when — soon after Crowley’s death — Grant submitted his plans for change. The remainder of the
story has passed into ‘magical’ history. But at that moment, precisely, the 93 Current surpassed Germer and he was no
longer in a position to make decisions affecting the Order, which then came completely under the direction of
Kenneth Grant. The division is precise and final and the choice lies with you.
Il remains to remind those who support4 the old-aeon concept of the O.T.O., that they have not produced —nor
can they ever produce — the slightest evidence o f a creative current in any of its forms, such as evidenced by the one
here represented, which i; therefore the Only True Order.
Consequently if. instead of wasting valuable time and energy in denying its living reality, such individuals were to
strive to understand what the 93 Current actually can mean for themselves and for humanity at large, they may reach
a stage where these words will seem superfluous. To this end they should acquaint themselves very thoroughly, very
profoundly, with Grant's Typhonian Trilogy, for no where else-in published form have the genuine and ultimate
formulae of practical occultism been made so fully available.
We take this opportunity of announcing Kenneth Grant’s forthcoming work — Nightside o f Eden — due to be
published by Frederick Muller Ltd., in the Spring o f 1977. It is a unique enchiridion o f Draconian Magick, a
Typhonian Tantra which supplies the invocatory calls that unseal the cells o f Amenta. Man may ascend and irradiate
his being to the utmost stars only by diving dver more deeply into the inner spaces o f his essential non-being. Based
upon one of the most dangerous grimoires receivedjby Crowley from an extra-terrestrial source, Nightside o f Eden is
in effect the ultimate chapter o f the Typhonian Trilogy, presenting as it does a complete exposition of the entire
system of Draconian Magick in relation to the dynamics of the 93 or Ophidian Current.

As all fellow members of the O.T.O.A. know, man has other bodies more subtle
than the visible physical body. Ortodox science has not investigated them but
they are widely known by Western and Eastern Esoteric Schools.
^ome time ago when I began to study these occult bodies by different books,
I found that most schools have a different classification and their own
terminology. This difficulty.caused me a lot of confusion.
Today, after a few years of experience and study I can say something about
the subtle planes of man. I am trying to equate the terminology of several
esoteric schools that I know: Monastery of the Seven Rays, Qabalah, Theoso
phy, Rosicrucian fraternities and others.
SPIRIT, MIND, EMOTION and BODY,, that correspond also to INTUITIONAL BODY,
MENTAL BODY, ASTRAL BODY and ETHERIC-PHYSICAL'BODY or TRANSCENDENTAL EGO,
EGO, ID and TRANSCENDENTAL ID.
All members of the O.T.O.A. are familiar with this classification which
is studied in the first year of the M.S.R. work. It appears also in Liber
CCLVI by Fra. O.v.N. published in Vol I No I of INSTRUMENTUM.
Traditionally the Qabalah divides man in four parts: NESHAMAH, RUACH, NEPHESH
and GUPH.

The body of this essay will delineate some important ideas of ABRAXOS, the Divine
Androgynous of Gnosticism as it is relative to our expose of H.S.S. and his siddhas.
But before we enter into the crux of these matters let me bring to light a very
interesting book L 1Androgyne. The eight work of a twenty volume set written by
Feledan entitled La decadence latine whom no one seems to havethe courage to read
these days. Anatole France wrote "he is haunted by the idea of the androgyne,
which inspires all of his works." Sar Peledans' production like that of his
contemporaries Swineburne, Baudelair and Huysmans belongs to a different catapory
than Balzacs' Seraphlta. Peledans' heroes are reflected in perfect sensuality.
All mans faculities functioning deeply and sensatively , expressing themselves in
interesting personal interaction with society whom he is their fullest expression.
If we do not work for the rejuvenation of humanity with our extra knowledge, can
we expect them with their frail hearts and soft brains to do anything about their
ignominious condition?
The meta-physical significance of the perfect man is degraded and somewhat lost
with many of the late 19 century French and English decadents who occasionally
return to the concept of the Androgyne but in the form of a morbid and even
satanic hermaphroditism. When ritual androgynisation thakes this abherent form
it reveals a desperate effort to obtain by concrete psychiological means the
paradoxical totality of man.
Our hertero- bi- a- sexaulity as lived ritually and ecstatically is indespensible
for transcending the condition of the profane man, paying special attention that
our emotions are not atrophied in exchange for super-human prowess by alloying our
Mecidina Metallorum with the hyper-sensative awareness of the ethical impulse.

ful in this matter, because of his unique position as my teacher of physics
and the director of our entire science program. About a year ago, we were
able to establish our "Kammamorian Temple of Atlantean Spiritism" to serve
as the outer temple of the inner-plane contact work directed by him from his
laboratory-temple in Lemuria.If we see ourselves as representing the Earth-
power-zone, which is easy as I have both my Sun and rising sign in Earth-
signs of the Zodiac, and Dr Kammamori as representing the Yesodlc-polnt of
contact, which is Lemuria, the work with Dr Atlantis becomes intelligible
as the projection of the Tiphareth-zone, wherein the work of the LCN is
hidden, behind the Sun, where there is a secret passage which extends all
the way to Pluto, known by our adepts, and guarded by 336 Zombi. At this
point of Tiphareth, a terrific rush of imbalance is perceived and may even
be directly experienced, as moving higher, we encounter the Daathlan-zone,
the physical and mathematical situs of Choronzon. Here, Dr Kammamori has
set up extremely strong mechsmlsns to prevent the forces from following
the scientist back into Universe A, once he has entered upon the explora
tions of Universe B. Most of the materials of the Daathian-power-zone work
have been reserved to those who have a special interest therein, but even
this level of power is no longer final, but as a matter of fact leads beyond
to the Ketherian-zone. The Ketherian-zone is the abode of AIWAZ in His very
present consciousness, or super-consciousness. It is from this zone that
the extremely powerful researches in occult and akaahic physics are being
written.
The work of our research centre in Chicago consists very simply in
sounding these various levels and zones in order to receive the appropriate
scientific data, for the advancement of our systems and methods of control.
In order to bring about the realisation of these lines of research and to
bring them to conscious system, we have established four levels of speci
alisation: these like the Haitian secret societies have exact functions to
perform, being our laboratory-temples for working the entire field of akaahic
physics. On the next page there is a schematism of the systems as they are
related to previous research patterns. However, from the purposes and power-
zone contacts one can see how adapted to the requirements of the new out
pouring of oraclular energies, these centres of work have become. I might
add that the purpose of scientific method is always kept in mind when using
these systems and structures.

ounterpart in the old Chicago magickal group, THE CHORONZON CLUB, which is
ow one of our laboratories. As those who know the work can testify, the
HOROVZON CLUB worked with dangerous mental machines and established these
machines at the doorway of DAATH, which they viewed as their "headquarters",
phe original purpose of the CC is retained and combined with that of the
Ifork of the Secret Travelers: channelship for CHORONZON AND DEMONOLOGICAL
RESEARCH. There are regular seances and a circle of correspondence. There is

' Wind and Nature
The wind, blowing softly against my warm cheek, sings its song of
ages of ancient days when we warriors would sing to the gods for their
guidance and strength.
The wind, blowing its warmth across our naked bodies, caresses our
nakedness as we warriors lie upon our woven, blankets thinking of the
ancient masters of ancient days who would ride their war-chariots upon
the billowy clouds in the sky.
The wind, blowing its love into our bodies, touches the invisible
hearts of we warriors as we dance to the Sun-God who looks down upon us
from His lofty throne of gold andHis subjects of brilliant blue and red
tone sing His praises upon their lutes.
The wind, blowing the eternal breath of life into all, releases the
physical minds of we warriors as we ride off into the mountains of green
and silver tones to meet the ghosts of our ancestors as they beckon us.
Oh, great sages and medicine-men of ancient days, beckon forth the
wind to carry our hearts,sand minds to the land of the long-gone Masters
who created the worldj bring forth the animals who talk the talk of the
listers and communicate with we warriors who have forgotten this speech}

Love strings upon its harp the eternal, the love that binds all,

Fire Snake Year
Human beings are the most complicated organisms when contrasted to other types
of life on this planet. Due to our particularly unique line of evolution, we are
able to feel , percieve, sense and know in a non-referential context, without
relation to an object as in a-priori knowledge that is not verifiable by objective
experience. This abstract form of awareness stimulates the thrust towards civalized
mans quest to re-solve the meaning of life. It is one facet of experience to feel
joy at seeing children open their gifts from under the Christmas and another to
feel joy as an exhileration at being alive. The former is limited as to the
content of the project at hand, the latter is knowm as Pure in the sense that it has
So limit as to the level of bliss at the Supreme Revelation of Pure Joy.
It is basically this orientation of experience that is known as a mystical
technique. Man as a mystic is concerned with I. experience and 2. bliss. On
the other hand the magician is primarily interested with reason and control.
This essay is about to describe a magico-mystico technique for experiencing and
controling the ethical impulse. Which is of paramount importance in genuinely
understanding H.S.S. and the star role he plays tithin the theatre- mundi. There
is nothing of the occult here for all that is needed is yourself and the desire
for self growth tempered by inner strength.
The raw un-refined essence we shall be working with is the emotional complex
binding together the ego-id dyad. By catalytically cracking the emotions we are
able to liberate frozen sexaul energy which acts as a cosmic glue tying together
our character and manifesting as the matrix of our self image. The lattice
forming vector of our self image is the personality as experienced intellectually
and fostered by social endoctriiration, while having as its source of food as c
ceberal energy.Thusly arises the formula of the micro-cosim:

Within the magickal process as well as in nature the catalyst remains unchanged
throughout the reaction.
The liberated energy is now available for redirection using our inner strength
to control it vitality. The next phase has to do with where to direct the force.
This can never be dogmatic in any sense of the word and will not be. I am forming
concepts not using words. It is this loose energy that becomes transformed into
the ethical impulse. Ethics re-defines life to help people see the world in an
entirely new way and this is no easy task. Ethics provides the format by which
to determine wholesome living habits in the sense that wholesomeness provides the
growth medium to life that is conducive to progress on the magickal path. T,ivinr
according to ones own code of ethics is sustained b# two practices: I DISCRIMINATING
AWARENESS activated by inner strength and 2 APPROIATE ACTION manifested by a
discriminating awareness.
The ego centered emotional content becomes transmutated into a pristine awareness
through strenous and enduring effort on the part of the individual. This is
magick without the magickal in that you cannot consciously know of this part of
the reintegration process because the"you" is being annilhated and no one is
left in the inner dialogue between conscious and sub-conscious mind to report
on the progress. It is simplyffelt and known intuitavily.or not at all. Sindlarily,
the formula for the macro-cosim is: PRISTINE AWARENESS PRISTINE COGNITION
TKANCENDENTAL-ID - TRANSCENDENTAL-EGO
NOw that I have introduced to you all the process and its nuances let me introduce
you to the FOUR IMMEASUREABLY GREAT CATALYSTS OF BEING: LOVE JOY EQUINIMITY and
COMPASSION.

These four "cosmic" ingredients for the Abeolute Mind are the most practical
causes for the transmutation of species and can easily be made ready to apply
to any situation, time or place by the simple act of will. It is also this
" application of principles" that make it possible to see every act of life around
us as a possible source to tap a resovour of power. In this sense we do not need
to find a fresh source of knowledge because we have everything in the palm of your
hand. Knowledge becomes an unfolding of the inner dimensions of freedom. "Out er
dicipline. Inner Freedom"
Love is the most efficient catalyst for the Aquarian man and woman because in this age
we are grasping for lifes meaning in the creations of ego motivated havoc and
are finding them to be actually the cause of much suffering and nuerosis due to
the Ideality Reality gap. Love is quickly transformed into grasping and strangulating
attachment as to how it benefits me. Me being an ego mania supplys energy to the
problem area and simply increases its power over our True Being.
This source of frustration is counter acted by Compassion as the catalyst for
removing suffering. Siudlarily may become mere sentandlity which can be counter

1. The Second Order is based entirely upon practical occultism and has as its goal the genuine
development of n a g ic a l prowess.
2. There are three degrees in the Second Ordert (a) adeptus or 5 ■ 6, (b) adeptus major o,t
6-5, and (c) adeptus exemptus or 7 ■ U.
3. Etch degree is composed of four steps and one primary condition (neophyte). The four steps a ^

U. Those who have completed four years of preparatory study will be designatedas holding the
level of neophyte adeptua minor. Those beginning the work of the Second Order will be said to

5. The highest level of the Second Order will be held by those designated asholding title to
the step or grade and degree of philosophus adeptus exemptus.
6. The Second Order is organised according to the law of hierarchy, and each member will be
responsible to his immediate superior and responsible for his immediate inferior.
7. Each member will be responsible for reporting regularly to his Immediate superior in the worK-

9. The adeptus will maintain strict secrecy in respect to the identity of his mentor, his line

The establishment of the magical languages or spirits and other extra -
terrestrial intelligences (angels, etc*) from other realms began in modern
times with John Dee* and his system is understood to be the point of refer

awareness)while for Mercury (Bod) they are more and more dense and more and

Cosmic Traveler
Destiny, its shrouded face hid behind a veil of shadowy stars, lifts the truth from minds
Encased within ribbons of dreamy egos;
Purposefully, playfully perhaps, destiny stretches forth its pulsating rod of creation
And tenderly strokes the phallic mind;
Ah, how does destiny wrap its gentle fingers of energized light around the cushiony hearts
Of mankind enthroned within coccoons of mists.
Sweet nectar of the goddess radiates forth unto the initiated traveler of the cosmos
All the life-giving energy needed to sustain the invisible realms of nothingness for all;
For all is contained within the feet of the goddess as she begins her ascent Into God.
Mortal man cannot imagine, let alone realize, the closeness that permeates flesh and spirit,
For flesh cannot exist without spirit and spirit cannot exist without flesh, for each is one;
When one becomes One, than all is spirit for the cosmic traveler of the void of nothingness.
The cosmic traveler ascends the earthly pleasures and material wealth that is the dream;
The cosmic traveler ascends the sexual pleasures and material wealth that is the ecstasy;
The cosmic traveler ascends the spiritual pleasures and material wealth that is the void;
The cosmic traveler ascends and descends the root and flower and becomes the seed.
Being that the Egyptian Tradition is one of the several sources of our actual
Hermetic Philosophy, I think it is interesting to show what the beliefs of the
ancient Egyptians were on the parts of a human being and to equate them to the
M.S.R. classification.
I shall quote from the book "Egyptian Magic" by S.S.O.D., the complste descrip
tion of the process carried out by the soul in order to embody itself,
"The Initiated Egyptians regarded themselves as being far from simply soul and
body. They gave names to several human faculties, and postulated for each a
possibility of separate existence.
The Khat, Kat, or Body, was only a vehicle or material basis for the operations
of the Ego upon this plane of human earth-life.
In considering the Egyptian philosophy of the Life Cycle, let us start from
the beginning; according to obelisk of Queen Hatshepsu, a human Hammemit or
Primal Entity circled round the sun for a period of One Hundred and Twenty
years before incarnation. During this period certain cosmic and elemental for
ces would be more powerful than others; these environing the Primal Entity
would give it a certain characteristic bias, and guide it in the choice of the
means and moment of incarnation. In the meantime the reflections of the higher
elemental forces affecting the Primal Entity would be at work in the material
world. These reflections would bias the human parents in like manner. When the
natal epoch arrived the Great Mother-Force, symbolized by the vulture holding .
the Seal, imprinted upon the Primal Entity the symbols dominant at the selected
moment; and this is the rationale of the Astrological horoscope.
The human mother had in the meantime become the centre of elemental forces
that formulated an illusive attraction around her. This is the formulation
of tha Sahu, or the Astral body of the future human being. For the plainest
woman, for a time, becomes beautiful in the eyes of her lover. No sooner, how
ever, is the cooperation of the parent forces accomplished than the Sahu has
tily attaches itself to the vitalized germ and remains with it as an invisible
pattern toward which solid matter gravitating forms the material body. This
operation of the Sahu accounts for the vision which some clairvoyants have
perceived in regard to the Vegetable Kingdom, uf an astral plant-form attached
to seeds or grains before they are sown in the ground.
The elemental body then having concentrated round the vitalized ovum, leaves
the human mother in her natural state, stripped of the illusive beauty it had
imparted to her: and she does not, or should not, regain her specially attrac
tive power until she has done her part by the human being she is about to fos
ter.
The unborn child is prepared for its emergence into life by the parents who
contribute the principle called by the Egyptians the Hati or "whole heart".
That is, the Seat of the Inherited instincts racial and individual; inclu
ding such functions as digestion, hearing, seeing, smelling, and so on. In
one word the Hati is the heredity. It is clothed by a body formulated by ele
mental forces, the Sahu. The Sahu, or astral body, both before and after con
ception, possessed that power of radiation which formed the sphere of attra-
tion round the human mother, which was sealed by the great Vulture-Mother-
Force at the time of conception, and was withdrawn instantly to form the sphe
re or aura of the future human being - this is called the Khaibt, or radiating
aura.
At the moment of birth the "Ego" joins the body, and there are extant many
pictures which show the birth of great princes; in these the double forms of
the Celestially and Terrestrially generated bodies are recognisable. This is
to say the circling Hammemit now throws off an emanation which is called the
Ka or double of the new-born child, and this forms its link with the earthly
body by means of another principle, the Ab. The Hati is always spoken of in
cgyptian texts as associated with the Ab or Heart. Just as we, in our conver
sation, often confuse and combine our instinct and will. Will is a quality
latent in every animal; it can in man be developed and cultived until it be
comes Free Will. In the same way the Ab (will) or Red Vessel of the Heart is
represented in the Book of the Dead as containing an egg, and a concave germ:
when this concave germ is developed by cultivation the real life and full de
velopment of the Ego could begin: that is to say the Ka could progress in its
celestial evolution, just as the body could progress in its terrestrial evolu
tion.
uf course in thousands of cases the celestial body was restricted; the fatal
moment of conception loaded the terrestrial being (composed of the Sahu, Hati,
and Ab within the Kab or material body) with chains of destiny too strong far
him ta break through. And the Ka or Ego had to return to the Hammemit in the
Hluce of spirits and await the time when it might again have a chance uf rege
nerating matter Astral and Material, and become the number of these "Shining
une^.", who are set like Jewels in the Diadem of the Lord of Spirit and Life,
made One.
The seeds placed within the heart or Ab may now be considered as symbolizing
the powers of Thought and .'Jill: these once set in action by Theurgic practices
or jelf-devotion to the highest aspiration of the conscious being produce u
curious result. Remembering that in the representations of the Ab the princi
ples are reversed as though reflected in a vessel of blood - the concave germ
being uppermost. We can then see the two ends of the concave mass stretch round
und form a receptacle for the egg: this symbolises a more quintessenctial in
flux from the primal entity of liummBmit descending upon the upstretched arms
of the Ka in the form of the Hawk or Baie. The cultivation of Thought and Will
is again shown by the uplifted hands in the hieroglyph which represents the
Ka: and the attitude of aspiration enables it to formulate u resting-place

for the piercing, penetrating spirit, the Baie. The Baie can operate through the
egg-like principle contained in the Ab and the Ka through the concave principle".
I shall begin with the most dense parts of the human constitution. We have firstly
the Kat or Khat, the physical body with its subter parts, the Sahu, the Khaibt
and the Zet. The Sahu, instead the Astral form as the text states, would be the
Etheric body as understood by the occultists. The text speaks also of an astral
plant-form attached to seeds in the Vegetable Kingdom, and we know the plants do
not have an Astral body but only an Etheric one. The Khaibt, aura or sphere of
radiations, is the radiation of the Etheric body or Sahu. The Zet would be a re
fined form of the Khaibt in order to link the Ka or Ego with the Ab or Non-Ego.
The two hearts Hati and Aib, are the two parts of the Astral body: the lower one
(Hati), related with the Etheric-physical body and the higher one (Ab), related
with the Ego or Ka. Crowley arranges the Ab instead the Ka in his table.
The Khai or Ka is the Individuality or Human Ego and it is emanated from the
Hammemit. It is the same as the Ruach of the Qabalah and has its center in Ti-
phareth. The Baie or Bn, the Spirit, the link with the divine is arranged on
Binah and corresponds with Neshamah of the Q.B.L. The Khou or Khu, the magical
power, the shining one, is related to Chiah and Chokmah and the Hammemit is for
me the same Khabs in Liber AL, the Yechidah, the Primal Entity or Star, the In
most Light, the original, individual and eternal essence of the man.

Rosicrucian fraternities.
The Rosicrucian doctrine states that man has a visible, natural or bodily
figure and another invisible or spiritual figure. The spirit gives life to
the visible body and so man becomes a living soul or endowed with a Saul
figure. They are the classical division of the esoteric Christianism: Body,
Spirit and Soul. This division is used by all the Rosicrucian fraternities.
These parts also have three aspects each, making man a ninefold constitution.
The vehicles composing the Threefold Body are not b o m all at the same time.
First to manifest is the Physical Body at the moment of human birth. The Ethe
ric Body is born at about the age of seven; the Astral Body at the age of
fourteen and the Mind becomes matured and active at twenty-one years. In this
actual grade of evolution, man does not have a true Mental Body because it is
still in an embryonic condition.
The Divine Spirit or spirit of the Divine Will, is the bearer of the Divine
Plan and gives its impulses by means of the Soul of the Mind or fire figure,
the mental blood to the Mind. These impulses reach the mind as thinking-subs
tance while the soul-medium, the mental blood, manifests itself in the mate
rial brain as the nervous fluid.
The Vital Spirit or the spirit of the Divine Love and Wisdom is the explainer
of the Divine Plan, the Divine Light in us and gives its impulses by means of
the Emotional Saul or power-figure, the astral blood to the Desire Body. These
impulses reach the astral or desire body as desire vibrations while the soul
medium, the astral blood, manifests itself in the material heart center via
the material blood.
The Human Spirit or spirit of the Divine Activity is the performance of the
Divine Plan and gives its impulses by means of the Conscious Soul, the mate
rial blood to the Material body. These impulses manifest-themselves in action
while the soul medium, the material blood, manifests itself in the lymph.
The Spirit of Man in its threefold nature, then develops the vehicles of the
threefold body. The Human Spirit develops the Astral Body, the Life Spirit
develops the Etheric Body and the Divine Spirit crystallizes the Physical
Body.
Having developed the threefold Body, the Spirit of Man reacts upon these vehi
cles developing each to higher perfection, and in the process extracts from
each the essence which we call Soul. Soul also is ^ threefold and its divisions
are termed Conscious, Intellectual and Emotional Soul. The consciousness is
made possible in the Soul.
Rosicrucian Fellowship
Man is a threefold Spirit that has a mind in order to rule a threefold body
emanated from itself to acquire experience. This threefold body is so trans
formed into a threefold Soul.

The smokeless burning of decaying leaves filled the air that fateful day in early
Autumn . Upon returning home from the metallurgical labratory where I worked,
I slowly walked up those stairs that led to ray second story apartment, admiring
the gold brocade wall paper I liked so much. It had been an average day so far
so I decided to relax and rolled myself a joint of "thai-stick" and settled
down to read the final chapters of La-bas . It was not long before the deep
irihalttations of the nbuddha grass" as it was known In Thailand hit me and changed
my mood. I further decided to perform ameditation-research on "blue light
think tanks" so I turned on the blxte light that hung down in the middle of
room and U t some aimpo insence for an atmosphere that the spirits would like
and lay down on the day bed waiting for that turn of consciousness to come.'
Silent thought groups have been an inter sting field theory for me ever since
I heard about them at the International Theosophical Society Research Lodge
in Chicago. Slowly the process began and the "I" in consciousness became the -
watcher in essence. The idea is to become the foundation of the mind rather
than participating in it as a phenomena*. I do not remember just how long
this experience lasted befor I was startled by the tinkling of metal outside
of the bay windows overlooking the street. There was an erie glow laced amidst
the blue light caused by the final rays of twilight filtering through the
green fishnet curtains. I rose from the day bed and lightly strode over to the
window and looked out. To my amazement I saw what looked like a big black dog
sauntering down into the alleyway that ran beside the house. The thought
came that I should try and capture the canine for surely there would be a
reward offered for the beast in tomorrows paper. So I grabbed a dog collar
from off of the coffee table and ran down the satirs and out the door into
the alley where I could barely see the creature as the shadows of the trees
tried to conceal him. I began running and soon was closing on ray victim to be.
He must have heard me panting and he turned to confront me. Terror siesed me
as I looked into the glowing red eyes and saw the foam running down from his
tortured mouth. I started running like never before not turning to see if he
was after me. I could hear the mad growls getting closer and closer. Suddenly,
he was at my heels and he drug me to the ground like I was a baby. It was all
I could do to hold him at bay as he tried instlnctly to get to my jugfrar vien.
His foaming mouth soon oovered ray face with his maddness and the fetid breath
made me gag. Then our minds merged . Overcome I knew I was defeated.
I bared my throat to the wolf but could not die. Immediatly I felt his fangs
plunge into my throat and the shook of death convulsed my body. I heard his
tongue hungrily lapping at the fresh blood spewing form my neck. I blacked out.
The next thing I knew I opened ray eyes and there was a wierd scintilltatlng
vibration around me. The wolf was gone but in its place stood LUCIFER!
He was wearing a long black robe lined in re with a high vampire collar
clasped at the neck. His hair lay elose to his head and he had the same eyes
that I remember so well to this day. I got up and he lead me into my apartment
where there was a witch queen in a forth dimensional room. He communicated
with her as I sat nearby on a small coushin. She looked at me and I recited the
invocation for sexaul protection I had been taught as she reached under a bell
jar and removed what looked like a creepy crawler octapus and threw it into He**
lap. I looked over as LUCIFER began to walk towards me.. As he walked behind
a piller he transformed into MICHAEL BERTIAUX. Ho was wearing a knitted head
band, blue pants and a flannel shirt. We walked over to a bed where there
were two naked lesbians wearing shaved heads erotically fondling eaoh other.
As I watched them 117 erection began to grow and I thought that I was sure
going to enjoy their act . Poof, I was outside looking up ah the bay windows
from the street. Then someone shouted, Dave! I sat up from the day bed and
looked around. There was no one in the house at all.
