VI. LEARNING ACTIVITY:

Poem Writing
Write a 10-line poem using any of the figures of speech and identify the figure of speech
used in the lines.

“Scripted life”
From the beginning
You’re my silver lining
In a shallow of my rayless mind
There your peace waiting to be mine
When I find no one
I see you reaching your hands for everyone
You’re so good even from the start
Better than a thousand piece of art
Forever I’ll be grateful
For you always been faithful

The figure speech I was able to use is called "Rhyme," and as you may have noticed,
every last word in every line has a similar ending sound.

VII. ASSSIGNMENT
What are the Taxonomy of Objectives Used in Teaching Grammar?

Why?
Benjamin Samuel Bloom, an American educational psychologist, developed Bloom's taxonomy
in the 1950s, and Lorin Anderson revised it. Teachers employ Bloom's Taxonomy to aid in the
development of students' higher order cognitive skills and critical thinking, since challenging
pupils receive the finest education.

Purpose!
To provide a structure or system for grouping the objectives of classroom lessons. Through
Bloom's taxonomy, teachers may construct their lesson. The framework enables us to

comprehend the various degrees of knowledge mastery. As learners, we may use this
information

to better organize our studies and assess our proficiency, and as teachers, we can use it to
better design our classes and assess the proficiency of our students.

How?
The level of the students and the course level (AP vs. Remedial) should be taken into account
before applying Bloom's taxonomy; aim to meet the aims of analyzing for remedial classes and
evaluating for AP classes.

Levels of Bloom’s taxonomy

- In the Bloom taxonomy, there are three different domains: the cognitive, which is
concerned with information acquisition; the affective, which is concerned with people's
attitudes and feelings; and the psychomotor, which is concerned with manual or physical
abilities.

Example of how we can use taxonomy in teaching grammar

Remember
English grammar concepts like the components of a sentence and the parts of a speech are
understood by students who can read and write. Recognize that even if pupils don't realize
it, they already have knowledge of grammar. To increase students' confidence, emphasize
that they do comprehend some grammatical concepts. Give your students a pretest if they
have never received direct teaching in grammar. It can be necessary to start with the
fundamentals and apply those words to other topics covered in class. A few additional
examples provide students exposure to vocabulary relevant to the area. Give your children
some examples of descriptive, action, and person or object terms. As you teach pupils more
complex vocabulary, go through sentence components or parts of speech with them.

Understand
Grammar classes' "understanding" sections are the ideal time to experiment with sticky notes,
graphic organizers, illustrations, and group projects. Ask students to provide examples for each
kind of speech to the classroom display. Giving each student a sticky note and asking them to
add examples beneath the boards is another option. Show students numerous images to assist
them comprehend the idea of prepositions. In order to show their comprehension of other
elements of speech, you may also encourage students to locate visuals to depict them. Apply
the words to the reading once they have been understood by the students by giving examples.
You might assess the pupils' comprehension of several, sometimes perplexing topics like action
and connecting verbs. Grammar and writing connections are something students are learning.

For instance, we complete the sentences when students construct prepositions based on
images. We use a comma to separate sentences that start with prepositional phrases. Our
grammar is eventually moving past understanding and knowledge.

Apply
You'll discover opportunities to apply grammar skills to other subjects in class as you
continue to practice it. Use two minutes of a literature lesson, for instance, to relate a
grammatical idea to literature. To help them write better, have pupils explain how the author
"broke" grammatical conventions. Grammar and vocabulary are connected by yet another
application idea. Describe how various portions of a phrase might employ distinct elements of
speech. An object of a preposition, for instance, might be a noun in the subject, direct object,
predicate word, indirect object, or object position. Ask pupils to describe the word's function if
you are dealing with a noun (from a mentor phrase or from student writing), and then alter it. As
an illustration, the lighting was dark. Could we change bright (an adjective) to bright (an
adverb)? The light wasn't too bright. What version do the students prefer? You are giving
students more control over their writing by letting them play with language. Similar practice may
be done with more challenging words and classes in a particular vocabulary. When concepts
are presented in context, students are better able to comprehend hard subjects like grammar.
Students should be asked to evaluate the impact that each sentence style has on their work. As
the class reads and writes, these concepts will organically develop. Students will understand
that grammar is more than just "spotting mistakes" after they observe the connections between
the grammar lessons and other subjects.

Analyzing
Students must evaluate their writing to identify the right punctuation in the extensive subject
of punctuation. Examine instances that present rules in contradiction or exceptions.
Describe how quote marks should be punctuated. Showcase the various applications for a
semicolon. Examine the argument around serial commas. Educate students about the
flexibility of grammar and the contested nature of some concepts. Search types are an
excellent tool for classifying various topics. You can analyze the use of the grammatical
principles, explain parallels and differences, and draw conclusions regarding punctuation.
You may also examine how these ideas relate to one another at the conclusion of a
grammar sort. I break down subjects and verbs, relative pronouns, subordinating
conjunctions, comma rules, and prepositional phrases when I teach sentence construction.
Certainly, you are aware of and have instructed students on the requirements for each
sentence type. But before discussing compound-complex phrases, you might need to chunk
certain parts. With students, go over indefinite pronouns to determine whether this is a
mistake or just language evolving. Analyzing language through writing allows for great
discussions. Many standards for the end of high school ask students to look at the larger
picture of language and explain how language changes with society and culture.

Evaluate
The grammar lessons on the top tier of Bloom's Taxonomy are my favorites. Students will
dissect phrases using Bloom's Taxonomy to determine which subtypes each subtype belongs
to. As kids have more understanding of language, you won't frequently need to go back to

memorization charts. The distinction between subjective, nominative, and objective pronouns
must be taught, for example, even when kids may recognize a word as a pronoun.
Comprehending correct pronoun usage, such as utilizing the objective form for the object of a
preposition, depends on understanding the kind of pronoun. You'll spend less time studying
grammar and, as a result, less time with grammar worksheets if you utilize the domain-specific
vocabulary for grammar.

When writing, students should follow the standards for sentence organization, punctuation,
agreement, and verb mood. Students are less likely to dislike grammar exercises when
grammar courses are presented as tools for grammar. After you provide a solid grammar
foundation, you may fix specific areas of students' writing that are problematic by giving them
focused practice. I like grammar! Students construct sentences and assess how well various
conjunctions, phrase placements, and verb use are used. Grammar manipulatives are a popular
approach to assess and produce. We (as a class) have worked together, and as a result, our
community is strong enough to come up with silly, original phrases.

Create
Because grammar and language are ever-changing, learning about them never stops. Your
whole direct instruction will be highlighted when you teach grammar through writing. As you
continue to teach grammar, your pupils will understand that there are enough differences
between grammatical forms to possess several names. When teaching grammar, you will
develop a rhythm as you move through Bloom's Taxonomy. Start presenting increasingly
difficult grammatical subparts as soon as pupils show they can evaluate the foundations (such
as verbals). Opening up learning options outside of the classroom begins with mastering a
language's fundamentals. It is not appropriate to teach grammar as a separate topic. To assist
your student understand that it IS a part of their language, instead, incorporate it into your
regular teaching.
