Lahore: A 14-year-old boy shot dead his entire family, including mother and two minor
sisters, allegedly "under the influence" of online game PUBG, police in the capital of
Pakistan's Punjab province said on Friday. Nahid Mubarak, a 45-year-old health worker, was
found dead along with her 22-year-old son Taimur and two daughters aged 17 and 11 in
Lahore's Kahna area. Her teenage son who remained unhurt and is the lone survivor of the
family turned out to be the murderer, police said in a statement.
"The PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) addict boy confessed to have killed her
mother and siblings under the influence of the game. He has developed some psychological
issues because of spending long hours of the day playing the online game,” the statement
said.
Police said Nahid was a divorcee and often used to admonish the boy for not paying attention
to his studies and spending most of his time playing PUBG. "On the day of the incident,
Nahid scolded the boy over the matter. Later, the boy took out her mother's pistol from a
cupboard and shot her and his three other siblings dead in their sleep. "Next morning, the boy
raised an alarm and the neighbours called the police. The boy that time told police that he
was on the upper storey of the house and did not know how his family was killed,” the
statement said.
The licensed pistol was acquired by Nahid for her family's protection, police said, adding that
the weapon is yet to be recovered from a drain where the boy had dumped it.

The body of the teenager was handed over to the family after post mortem, the PTI report
said, adding that viscera samples would be sent to Bhopal for examination.
According to the police, their initial investigation has revealed that Deepak might have died

A 17-year-old boy died by suicide after losing a PUBG game on his mobile phone Friday
night.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the family members of Roshan Kumar
alias Vikash found him hanging from the ceiling of his room at ChotiSardho village under
Barari police station area in the district.
Sources said Roshan was playing PUBG game inside his room and did not answer when the
family members called him for dinner. When he did not open the door on Saturday, they
forced open the door and saw him hanging.His Family sources claimed the teen would get
extremely upset whenever he lost a PUBG game and the same must have happened on Friday
night.
Some sources, however, said Roshan was in love with a girl in the locality but she had
rejected him. This made him depressed and might have driven him to suicide. PUBG was
banned by the Indian government in September 2020, but it was later relaunched as
Battlegrounds Mobile India, which the Centre banned again in July 2022 under section 69(A)
of The Information Technology Act.
Roshan's father Ram BaranChoudhary said he and his elder son Rohit remain busy with
door-to-door newspaper distribution work since early morning. Rohit, meanwhile, said they
did not know why Roshan killed himself. Police sources said the autopsy report confirmed
suicide.
