1) In a drawer there are 10 ribbons. 3 are blue and 7 are red. Two are selected without replacement.
a. Draw a tree diagram to represent this situation with probabilities on each branch.
b. Find the probability of selecting:
i. a blue and red ribbon
ii. 2 red ribbons
iii. exactly two blue ribbons

2) In a drawer there are 5 socks. 3 are black and 2 are white. Two are selected without replacement.
a. Draw a tree diagram to represent this situation with probabilities on each branch.
b. Find the probability of selecting:
i. a black and white sock in that order
ii. at least 1 black sock
iii. 1 black sock

3) In a freezer there are 7 Zooper Doopers. 3 are raspberry, 3 are blueberry and 1 is orange. Two are
selected without replacement.
a. Draw a tree diagram to represent this situation with probabilities on each branch.
b. Find the probability of selecting:
i. a raspberry and orange flavoured Zooper Dooper
ii. 2 blueberry flavoured Zooper Dooper
iii. 2 Zooper Doopers of different flavours

4) A football team has two matches to play. The probability that the team wins each match is 0.6.
a. What is the probability the team loses?
b. Draw a tree diagram to represent this situation with probabilities on each branch.
c. Find the probability that team:
i. wins 2 matches
ii. loses 2 matches
iii. wins at most 1 match

5) The probability of rain in a village is 0.3 for each day.


a. What is the probability it does not rain?
b. Draw a tree diagram to represent this village over two days with probabilities on each branch.
c. Find the probability that the village experiences:
i. at most 1 day of rain
ii. no rain
iii. 2 days of rain

6) Lou is on a fitness program for two months. The probability that Lou will finish the program
successfully each month is 0.73.
a. What is the probability that Lou does not finish the program each month?
b. Draw a tree diagram to represent Lou’s participation in the program over two months with
probabilities on each branch.
c. Find the probability that Lou:
i. finishes both months of the program
ii. finishes one month of the program
iii. does not finish the program for both months
