• Q1a-Discuss the different measure of dispersion. Describe
the method of computation of any two of them?
• b-The values of the arithmetic mean and S.D of the
following frequency distribution of a continuous variable
derived from the use of working origin and scale are 135.3
and 9.6 respectively. Determine the actual class-interval?

Sample Space, Simple & Compound Events and Mutually
Exclusive Events?
• A certain carton of eggs had 3 bad eggs and 9 good eggs.
An omelette is made of 3 eggs randomly selected from the
carton. What is the probability that there are (i) no bad
eggs (ii) at least one bad egg (iii) exactly 2 bad eggs in the
omelette?
• b-A drawer consist 50 bolts and 150 nuts. Half of bolts and
half of nuts are rusted. If an item is chosen at random.
What is the probability that it is rusted or is a bolt?
• Q5a-What is distribution function and what are its
properties?
• b-A variable X has the p.d.f f(x) = 3/8(x – 2)2 for 0 ≤ x ≤ 2.
Find the expected value of X and its S.D
• Q6a-A computer while calculating the correlation co-
efficient between two variables X and Y from 25 pairs of
observations obtained the following sums: ∑X = 125, ∑X2 =
650, ∑Y = 100, ∑Y2 = 460, ∑XY = 508. It was, however,
later discover at the time of checking that he had copied
down two pairs as (6,8) and (8,6) while the correct values
are (8,12) and (6,8). Obtain the correct value of the co-
efficient of correlation?
• b-Find the rank correlation coefficient between the two
sets?
