STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study will be conducted to find out the practices and performance of public
elementary schools in the implementation of DepEd Computerization Program for the program
enhancement in the district of Pontevedra.
Specifically, it will seek answers to the following questions:
1. What components of DepEd Computerization Program are availed by public elementary
schools?
2. What are the extent of practices of public elementary schools in the implementation of
DepEd Computerization Program in terms of:
a. learners’ utilization;
b. teachers’ utilization; and
c. administrative utilization and support.
3. What are the challenges encountered by public elementary schools in the implementation
of DepEd Computerization Program?
4. What are the influences of the implementation of DepEd Computerization Program on
the:
a. academic performance of learners;
b. pedagogical practices of teachers; and
c. administrative and leadership performance of school heads.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

To provide a definite point of reference in understanding the contents of this


investigation, the following terms will be defined conceptually and as to how they will be used
during the conduct of the study.

DepEd Computerization Program (DCP). It refers to DepEd’s program that aims to


provide public schools with appropriate technologies that would enhance the teaching – learning
process and meet the challenges of the 21st century (DepEd Order No. 78, s. 2010).
In the study, it refers to the programs that each school is using as part of the curriculum
in integrating technology in every teaching – learning process.
Challenges. A difficult task or problem encountered by a person or matters involving
doubt, uncertainly or difficulties was proposed for solution or discussion (Thomas, 2008).
In the study, challenges refer to the problems encountered by the public elementary
school in the implementation of DCP.
Implementation. It is the carrying out, execution, or practice of a plan, a method, or any
design, idea, model, specification, standard or policy for doing something (Celestial, 2015).
In the study, it refers to the DCP in all public schools in the district of Pontevedra.
Involvement. To have or include someone or something as a part of something
(Economic Times, 2019).
In the study, it refers to the engagement or participation of a number of students, teachers,
and school heads.
Opportunities. The ordered constant monitor and evaluation of the members lives from
the benefits and government services they availed (Paren, 2017).
In the study it refers to a good chance for advancement or progress to be offered to the
public elementary schools after the implementation of DCP.
Performance. It is an outcome in terms of participation, completion and achievement
(William, 2016).
In the study, performance refers to the result of all public elementary schools after the
implementation of DCP.
Practices. It is the act of rehearsing a behavior over and over, or engaging in an activity
again and again, for the purpose of improving or mastering it. It is also a method of learning and
of acquiring experience (Economic Times, 2019).
In the study, it refers to the activities of the students, teachers, and school heads in
utilization of DCP.
Stakeholders. Agroup without whose support the organization would cease to exist” and
any group or individual that can affect or effected by the achievement of the corporation purpose.
(Stanford Research Institution (SRI), 2017)
In this study, it refers to the parents, local government units and both public and private
sectors who supports the program of DepEd.
Support. It refers to the supervision, and school resources provided by school
administrators as instructional leader (Albao, 2014).
In the study, it refers to the assistance given by the school heads to the school for the
implementation of DCP.
