Preamble
The students are required to obtain permission for internship from an organization before the end
of semester – II. Duration of the Summer In-Plant Project / internship will be for a period of 2
months after semester – II and before the beginning of semester – III. During the internship the
students are required to obtain job/work assignments in the functional or general areas of
management and complete such job/work assignments within the stipulated period and submit a
report on the same.
Internship will be evaluated on the basis of the report for 50 marks and a Viva-Voce exam for 50
marks by the examiners appointed by the University. Internship is evaluated for a total of 100
marks and has a weightage of 4 credits.
PROCESS / GUIDELINES:
1) Each student will select an organization to work in any management
domain as Management Trainee. (Organization could be any company
(Public/Private/NGO/ Government organization/Department etc.)
2) The choice of the organization has to be made in consultation with the
Institute. The Institute for this purpose should assign an internal faculty
member who will act as the mentor throughout the Internship.
3) The work/job done by the student will be a full time effort where he/she
is required to attend the Industry/business/organization/NGO for 60
days. The industry expert will act as the External guide and the student is
required to submit attendance and work done details every week to his
mentor or college guide.
4) The completed Internship report is to be submitted by the end of 60th
day. Late submissions should not be entertained by the Institute in any
case. A soft copy on a CD of all Internship reports is to be sent to
Chairman BOE, KIMS, KUD immediately after the submission date.
5) There shall be a mid-review of Internship, to be conducted.
6) Separate presentations for the organizations and the Institute have to be
arranged in last week of the Internship duration as per mutual
convenience.
There will be a viva-voce conducted by Karnatak University. The panel of examiners will be
similar to SIT and as approved by the Board of Studies.

Deliverables
The students are required to deliver the following without any concessions as
per the dates mentioned in the above process.
1) Internship weekly reports (at the end of each week)
2) Mid review presentation
3) Submission of Internship report (within 1 week at the end of Internship; Soft
copy + Hard Copy-3 numbers)
4) Presentation (for organization and the Institute) (Last week of the Internship
duration)
5) Presentation for Viva-voce examination to be conducted by KUD. (as per
K.U. Notification)

The report should be prepared using the following format:
i) A-4 size paper (Executive Bond)
ii) MS Word style with Times New Roman Font
iii) Font size -12 for Text and 14 for headings
iv) Portrait Paper settings with 1 inch margins on all the four sides.
