NEWS WRITING ENTRY FOR SCHOOL PAPER

Franciscan scribes triumph in DSPC

Deserie Rodriguez

Young journalists of San Francisco National High School (SFNHS) emerged triumphant after winning in all
of the events they joined during the District Schools Press Conference for Bulan I Elementary and
Secondary schools. The said event was held at Bulan North Central School-A (BNCS-A) last May 12, 2023.

It was a momentous event for the group of student-writers for they brought honor and glory to their
school with their victory. In English category, Kristene de los Santos bagged 1st place (Photo Journalism)
together with her coach Ma'am Diana Abaño as well as Jonel Laurio (Column Writing) with his coach
Ma'am Gloria Morata. Another 1st placer is Joanna Cassandra Enciso (Sports Writing) trained by Ma'am
Madielyn Penos. Ma'am Morata coached another two winning pieces by Shenna Mea Conde (Editorial
Cartooning) and Yasmin Dreu (Science and Technology Writing). Second place winners were Deserie
Rodriguez (News Writing) taught by Ma'am Janine Aimee Moroña and Mariel Crisolo (Feature Writing)
with her coach, Ma'am Evelyn De Los Santos. Bringing home the third place is Cherry Dayto (Editorial
Writing) guided by her coach, Sir Jerome Gliponeo.

Additionally, scribes in Filipino also brought home several winnings. Coming in first place are John Aldrin
Pedron (Photo Journalism) with Sir Bernardo Gersalia as his coach, April Rose Laguidao (Editorial
Writing) coached by Ma'am Erani Gloriane, Jochell Gubat (Column Writing), and Andrei Guelas (Editorial
Cartooning) both guided by Ma'am Lydia Llabrez, Jasleigh Quiniquito (Feature Writing) together with her
coach, Ma'am Annie Girado, and, Ricalyn Abuyog (Sports Writing) with her coach, Ma'am Jeane Garlan.
Second place winner, Kate Janyn Geul (News Writing) was trained by Sir Gersalia. Landing on the third
spot are Rassel De Asis (Alma Lacsa) and Angelica Hachero (Science and Technology Writing) who were
trained by Ma'am Alma Lacsa and Ma'am Morata, respectively.

They are all determined to take their talents to the next level as they prepare for the Municipal Schools
Press Conference where they will be competing with other student journalists from all over Bulan on
May 22, 2023.
