A. PRIMING/ACTIVATING Review the pupils in the previous lessons learned.


PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: Translate the following situational phrase to represent integers.
1. 15 feet above the ground.
2. A 30 drop to temperature
3. A weight loss of 5 kilograms
4. P1,500 deposited into account
5. Gain of 20 kilos of rice from harvest

To translate situational phrase to integers we must know different key words. In positive the key
words that we used are increase, add, more, deposit, accelerate, above and forward. In negative the
key words we used are decrease, subtract, less, withdrawal decelerate, below and backward.

B. PRESENTATION

ACTIVITY Which of the two integers in each pair has a greater distance from zero?
1. +5 & -4
2. -2 & -9
3. -10 & -6
4. +7 & -3
5. -12 & + 1

ANALYSIS 1.How did you find the activity?


2.On the given activity what did you noticed about the addition of integers having the same sign
and addition of integers having different signs?
3. Is it possible to add more than two addends in addition of integers?

ABSTRACTION How do you state the procedure for adding integers?

√ If the integers have the same sign, just add the positive equivalent of the integers and attach the
common sign to the result.

√ If the integers have different sign, get the difference of the positive equivalent and attach the
sign of the larger number to the result.

√ If there are more than two addends in the problem, the first step to do is combine addends with
the same sign and get the difference of their sum.
