“Fibonacci" was his nickname and is a shortening of
filius Bonacci, which means "Son of Bonacci“ (father-

Greatest European mathematician of the middle ages
Fibonacci’s own exercise published in his book
“Liber Abbaci” (Book of Calculation) in 1202:
“A man put a pair of rabbits in a place surrounded on all
sides by a wall. How many pairs of rabbits are produced
from that pair in a year, if it is supposed that every month
each pair produces a new pair, which from the second month
onwards becomes productive?”
- this became the basis for Fibonacci Sequence (Fibonacci
numbers)
