on the Integration of Arts and Social Studies.

Arts and social studies integration facilitate natural
connection in the world around us. Such integration
provides opportunities for teachers to utilize student
previous knowledge and student in developing new
knowledge, and differentiate lesson activities under an
exclusive umbrella of learning.
Elements of Art
The element and principle of art are the building block
for this type of artistic representation. In order to read
text we must have a working knowledge of the letters
of the alphabet. Likewise the artist must have a
knowledge of the elements and principles of art.
Visual Arts as the means of Introducing and
Developing Concept
KWL Chart
A wonderful way to study a person, country, time,
period or concept is by showing student art that
represents what you'll be studying.
Responding to Art
If students view visual images without motivation and
direction they are likely to spend very little time
analyzing what they see and thinking critically about
what is being presented. Each element should be
introduced to students in the context of familiar
representation in their environment.
Art in Creating and Interpreting Symbol
Political/Editorial Art
Using cartoons in the classroom allows you the
opportunity to explain the concept of cartooning in art.
Student can then examine and analyze perspective and
messages that might be represented in the cartoons.
Arts as a means of Summarizing Information
Comic Strips
Comic Strips are ways that students can illustrate what
they read and express their ideas about the social
studies concept.
Activity
Procedure:
1. The class will be divided in six (6) groups.
2. Which group will be given an area of specialization (art area).
● Group 1- Music
● Group 2- Dance
● Group 3- Malikhaing Pagsulat/Creative Writing
● Group 4- Visual Arts
● Group 5- Media Arts
● Group 6 Theater Arts
3. With the given area of specialization the group will choose a topic that
will fit the given area.
4. Each group will strategize an activity that will show the Integration of
the given art to a topic in Social Studies.
● Instructional Materials and Resources to be used
● Art Area to be used
● Step by step procedure of the Activity

5. The group will present their work in the class


1. What is the purpose of the integration of the Arts and
Social Studies?
2. What are the benefits of the Integration of the Arts and
Social Studies?
3. How the Arts and Social Studies are inextricably linked?
Direction: Create two (2) Lesson Activities (1 Visual Arts & 1 Performing
Arts) on the Integration of the Arts and Social Studies.
