1. Coveralls- are items of
Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE ) designed
to cover the whole body
and to protect against dirt
or other outside
contaminants.
2. Eye and Face Protection-
safety goggles, spectacles
and full face shields are
protectors intended to
shield the eyes and face
from a variety of hazards
impact while at work.
3. Footwear-are designed for
the purpose of protection
against adversities present
in the environment, usually
regarding ground textures
and temperature, insects,
and also disease-causing
microorganisms and dirt.
4. Gloves- are essential items
in providing hand
protection. It helps to avoid
hazards usually involved
when handling and feeding
animals.
5. Hearing Protectors-hearing
protection devices like ear
muffs and ear plugs reduce
the noise energy reaching
and causing damage to the
inner ear.
6. Respiratory Protective
Equipment (RPE )-like face
masks and respirators are
designed to protect the
farmer from dusts, fumes,
paint sprays, pesticides and
other dangerous substances
present in an animal farm.
7. Safety Helmets/Hard Hats-
they are designed to
protect the workers against
flying or falling objects that
would otherwise penetrate
them.
8. Wet Weather Clothing-
These types of PPE are
useful for workers who
work during cold and rainy
times. Farmers working in
the rain usually face
specific hazards, such as
poor visibility, wet and
slippery surfaces, cold
stress, and other work-
related gangers.

TYPES OF HAZARDS COMMON IN


ANIMAL FARM.
1. Physical- includes floors, stairs,
work platforms, steps, ladders, fire,
falling objects, slippery surfaces,
manual handling, excessively loud
and prolonged noise, vibration,
temperature, radiation, poor
lightning, ventilation, and even the
animals themselves.
2. Mechanical and/or electrical-
includes machinery, equipment,
and farm hand tools, cable wires,
switches, devices, or electrically
operated devices exposed to water.
3. Chemical- pesticides and herbicides
can cause injuries such as burns,
respiratory illness or even
poisoning.
4. Biological- includes exposure to
human and animal flu brought by
bacteria, viruses, molds, insects,
vermin and allergens.
5. Psychosocial environment-includes
workplace stressors like bullying,
violence, workloads and distresses.
