The completion of this educational undertaking, such as
the on-the-job training and manuscript writing, among
others, could not have been possible without the assistance
and reinforcement of so many people whose names may not all
be enumerated. Their contributions are highly appreciated
and gratefully acknowledged.
The students, however wishes to convey their profound
gratitude to the following individuals:
To our school, SORSOGON STATE UNIVERSITY, for giving
the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the kind of work we
will endeavor in the future. Also, for providing educational
challenges and tasks that helps us in developing our full
potentials as future Agriculturists.
To their adviser, Ms. Maribel A. Nolla, for always
persuading the students to continue and excel in their work
through hardwork and resiliency and for believing in the
students’ skills and abilities.
To the panelists, who are members of the Faculty of
Sorsogon State University- Castilla Campus, for the
technical suggestions for the betterment of the study. Also,
to other teachers who build up their students’ abilities to
continue their chosen Agriculture course and giving them
confidence to accomplish the tasks it entails. They have
vii
continually assisted and advised on the problems students
faced during the practicum days- specially in time
management, among others.

the marketing and economic aspect of our training was made
possible. You have been good buyers and has sold out the
products in its set duration.
To friends, fellow classmates and everyone who showed

CASTILLA, SORSOGON.
Adviser: Maribel A. Nolla
The Practicum on broiler and petchay production was
conducted at Burabod, Castilla, Sorsogon from June to August
with the total of 450 hours. It aims to enhance students’
skills on field activities and actual farm- handling
strategies.
The activities on broiler production include: selection
of stocks, construction of housing, and growing management.
Thirty heads were raised for about 35 days.
In crop production, the activities include: land
preparation, application of organic manure, management of
rearing, and marketing the produce before training is
completed.
All costs in the broiler production were recovered and
the students earned a profit. Meanwhile, in petchay
production, the students experienced a loss.
This training helped in technical skills and actual
work in preparation for the students’ future. The
experiences they have gained from this immersion has been
helpful for them in all aspects of their professional work.
x
It should be remembered that before starting the
activity, there must be a sufficient background information
and financial support to complete the work successfully.
