NOTICE

WRITING
Notice writing is a form of written communication used to inform a specific
audience about an event, activity, or important information. Notices are
commonly used in schools, workplaces, communities, and other organizations
to convey messages effectively. Here are some key points to keep in mind
when writing a notice:

1. Heading:

Include a heading such as “Notice” or “Public Notice” at the top of the

page to make it clear that it is an official communication.

2. Date:

Mention the date on which the notice is issued. This helps in keeping
record and provides a timeline for the information.

3. Salutation:

Begin with a formal salutation such as “Dear Students,” “To All

Employees,” or an appropriate greeting based on the target audience.

4. Content:

Be concise and to the point. Include all relevant details such as the
purpose of the notice, date and time of the event, venue, and any other
important information.

Use a clear and straightforward language that is easy to understand.

5. Signature:

End the notice with the name and designation of the person or the
authority issuing the notice. This adds authenticity to the communication.

6. Format:

Notices generally follow a specific format. The information is organized in

a way that is easy to read and understand. Use bullet points or
numbering for clarity.

7. Tone:

Maintain a formal and respect tone throughout the notice. Avoid slang or
informal language.

8. Contact Information:

Include contact information for further inquiries if necessary. This could

be an email address, phone number, or any other relevant contact
details.

9. Proofreading:

Before finalizing the notice, proofread it carefully to eliminate any

grammatical errors or typos. A well-written and error-free notice reflects
professionalism.

10. Distribution:

Ensure that the notice reaches the intended audience. This may involve
physical copies in prominent locations, sending it via email, or using
other appropriate channels.

Looking forward to your early response.

Question:
Informal letter to a friend encouraging him to choose a career ahead in the
field of tourism.

Stella Maris Convent School,

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
27th November 2023,
Dear Kanchi,
I hope you are doing well and enjoying your summer vacation. It is a well-
deserved break for you after all the hard work you did in you class 12 Board
Exam. It must feel good to just relax at home and play cricket with your friends.
I really enjoyed visiting your place last week. Your mother is a wonderful cook
and I keep raving about her cooking to my family all the time.
When I visited you, there were a few discussions about what vocation you
would like to choose since the board exams are over. Yesterday, I came
across an interesting article in a newspaper which can help you make up your
mind. The article was about tourism. I know you have a passion for traveling,
meeting new people, and discovering new places. So, I thought that a career
in tourism would be perfect for you.
You also do have a certificate course with a travel agency. After completing
any of these courses you could work for the government or any private firm or
you could even start yours.
Your loving,
Mudit
