Section of Solids Assignment - 2

The document contains 5 questions about drawing front views, sectional side/top views, and true shapes of sections of different 3D shapes that are cut by planes at various angles. The shapes include a hexagonal prism, pentagonal pyramid, cylinder, cone, and another hexagonal prism.

Section of solids Assignment-2

Q1) A hexagonal prism of base edge 35 mm and axis height 80 mm is resting on its base in
HP with its axis perpendicular to HP and its two base edges parallel to VP. It is cut by planes
which is perpendicular to VP and inclined at an angle of 55° with HP and bisect the axis.
Draw the front view, sectional side view and true shape of the section.
Q2) A pentagonal pyramid of base edge 30mm and axis height 70mm is resting on HP having
its axis perpendicular to HP and one of the base edge perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane
which is perpendicular to VP and inclined at an angle of 45° with HP, which cuts the axis at a
distance of 40mm from the base. Draw the front view, sectional top view and true shape of
section of the given solid.
Q3) A cylinder having base diameter 50mm and axis height 70mm is resting on its base on
HP and axis is perpendicular to HP. It is cut by a plane which is perpendicular to VP and
inclined at an angle of 45° to HP, which cut the axis at a height of 55mm from the base. Draw
its front view, sectional top view and true shape of the section.
Q4) A cone having diameter of base 60 mm and axis height 90 mm is resting on its base in
HP. It is cut by a plane which is perpendicular to VP and inclined at an angle of 45° with HP
and cuts the axis of the cone at a distance of 40 mm from the vertex. Draw its front view,
sectional top view and true shape of the section.
Q5. A hexagonal prism of base edge 30 mm and axis height 70 mm rests on the HP
on one of its rectangular faces with its axis perpendicular to the VP. It is cut by a
plane which is perpendicular to HP and inclined at an angle of 30° to the VP. This cuts the
axis at a distance of 30 mm from one end which is nearest to VP. Draw the top view,
sectional front view and the true shape of the section.
