Q.2- A man stands on a weighing machine placed on a horizontal platform. The machine reads 50 kg. By
mean of a suitable mechanism, the platform is made to execute harmonic vibrations up and down with a
frequency of 2 vibrations per second. What will be the effect on the reading of the weighing machine?
The amplitude of vibration of platform is 5 cm. Take g = 10 ms-2.

Q.11- A particle is moving in S.H.M. in a straight line. When the distance of the particle from equilibrium
position has values x1 and x2, the corresponding values of velocities are u 1 and u2. Show that the time

Q.12- In a sonometer experiment, resonance is obtained when the experimental wire has a length of 21 cm
between the bridge and vibrations are excited by a fork of frequency 256 Hz. If fork of frequency 384 hz.

Q.13- Find at what temperature the velocity of sound in air will be 3/2 times the velocity at 11°C.

B with an open column 30.5 cm long. Calculate their frequencies (neglect end correction).

Q.20- Two tuning forks when sounded together produce 3 beats/sec. on loading one of them with a little wax,
20 beats are heart in 4 seconds. Find its frequency, if that of other is 386. Ans- [383]
