SAP Basic Navigation

Logging on and off SAP

Logging on
1. Double-click on the SAP Logon Pad
icon on the desktop.
(or Office Toolbar or Programs menu)
2. Double-click on the required SAP system.
3. Type your user ID in the User field and your
password in the Password field.

4. Click or press Enter on your keyboard.


Logging off
Choose one of the following:
 Click in the top right hand corner of the
SAP screen.
 Click in the top left hand corner of the
SAP screen and select the Close option.
 Select System > Log off from the menu
bar.

Creating a Favourites Menu

There are five ways to add transactions to your


Favourites. Click once on the transaction code to
select it, then:
 Click . Or
 Drag and drop the transaction into the
Favorites folder. Or
 Follow menu bar menu path Favorites >
Add. Or
 Right mouse click, and select Add to
Favorites from the list. Or
 Follow menu bar menu path Favorites >
Insert transaction, then enter the
transaction code in the Transaction code field
and click .

ENTER – Click to validate field entries. Enter

/ SHOW/ HIDE – Click to show or hide the command field. N/A

SAVE – Click to save a task in SAP. Control + S or F11

BACK – Click to go back to the previous screen without

EXIT – Click to exit a screen or task without saving. Shift + F3

CANCEL – Click to cancel a task without saving. F12

PRINT – Click to print. Control + P

FIND and FIND NEXT – Click to find entries on the

SEARCH HELP/ MATCHCODE – Search for field values. F4

Common SAP Messages

Messages appear in dialogue boxes or on the Status Bar.

Information Often appear after successfully completing a transaction.

Warning A possible error has occurred. Check the previous entry.


Read message and press Enter to continue. OR
Error
Click or to display details of the error.

ABEND (Abnormal end message) A serious error has occurred.

 Choose Display technical names in order to


display transaction code with description.

User settings
Select System > User profile > Own data
from the menu bar.

 Define your decimal notation, default


language, date format.
 Define also your default printer.

 Click on to change your


password.

Useful search tool

This tools are available on every open transactions.

+ F1 Click on a field to display contextual HELP.

Use * to make a selection on a description.
