CFD Lab Assignment Guide

This document outlines three computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses assignments using ANSYS Fluent software. The first assignment involves analyzing air flow over a 3D airplane model with input velocity of 500 m/s. The second is a conjugate heat transfer analysis of liquid flowing through a pipe with aluminum and copper materials. The third analyzes air flow through a muffler with inlet velocities of 10 m/s and 5 m/s and temperatures of 400K and 300K respectively. The objectives are to design boundary conditions, run steady and unsteady simulations, and extract contour plots, vectors and other post-processing results.

Objective:
To provide hands-on experience on Computational analysis and simulation of 2D &3D models systems
using contemporary software tools and clear idea on postprocessing of results

After completing the lab:

✓ Design & name the boundary conditions required for problem statement
✓ Computational analysis of model using ANSYS FLUENT
✓ Run steady, unsteady state flow simulation depending on problem statement
✓ Extract contours, vectors and plots for output paramters such as Pressure, velocity
and Temperature etc.,
Prerequisite:
✓ Basics on Fluid Mechanics Theory
