A. INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY
“So yesterday, we talked about the light and shadows.
Do you remember kids?”
“What do we mean by shadow?” “Shadow is a dark area formed when
straight light rays are blocked by opaque
objects.”
“What shadows are formed when the position of the sun
is high in the sky?”
“Shorter shadows”
“What shadows are formed when the position of the sun is

b. Motivation
“Who among you here knows how to sing “Oh Mr. Sun,
Sun, Mr. Golden Sun”?” Some students are raising their hands and
some are not.
“Everybody listens and we will try to learn singing the

“Sun is beneficial in the conduct of different human
activities. One is farmers can plant and grow their crops
with the help of the sun. It is because plants can make their
own food through the presence of sunlight.”
“Harvesting of crops is also done during sunny day.”
“Fishermen can also dry their catch immediately to
preserve them.”
“We can dry our laundry during sunny days.”
“Recreational activities like picnics and outing are done by
families and friends on a sunny day.”
“The following pictures presented to you are the beneficial
effects of the sun to human activities. However, sun can
also cause harmful effects to some human activities.
“Too much exposure to sunlight can cause sunburn and
skin cancer. The skin turns reddish and itchy when burnt.
Skin cancer is caused by UV radiation.”
“Looking at the sun directly can also cause visual
impairment.”
“Farming is also affected due too much heat of the sun. It
can cause the withering of the plants and eventually, they
die. The soil becomes very dry and can crack causing the
plants to die. Farming during this time is not possible.”
D. ABSTRACTION
