John Logie Baird
The Scottish engineer John Logie Baird was born on August 13th, 1888
in Helensburgh, Scotland. He was the first scientist who televised
pictures of objects in motion.
Interested in electronics from an early age, John studied at Larchfield
Academy, the Royal Technical College, and the University of Glasgow,
he began to work on developing a television system which produced
televised objects in outline in 1924, the first true television success, the
transmission of a live human face, was achieved by Baird in 1925.
Baird demonstrated colour television in 1928 and was reported to have
completed his researches on stereoscopic television in 1946. The Scottish
engineer died on June 14th, 1946 in Sussex, England.
