RPH Module 12 Assignment

Visiting historical sites, landmarks, and museums can help provide a deeper understanding of historical facts and events that may not be found elsewhere. Seeing places in person and artifacts on display can give valuable context that books and the internet lack. The author's visit to the Museo ng Katipunan, for example, allowed them to see artifacts like the sedula and weapons used by Katipuneros that differed from their expectations and added real-world details not found in other sources. Experiencing the culture represented at such locations through objects, clothing, and information on display can fill in gaps left by typical historical outlines.

Module 12 Assignment 1

Why visiting historical sites, shrines, landmarks, and museums important in the study of history? How has your
previous experience of visiting a specific landmark or museum helped you in understanding of a historical fact or
event.

Visiting historical sites, shrines, landmarks, and museums can sometimes make you come to an
understanding and sometimes there are information that you won’t get in internets or even in legit books.
Only by seeing it personally can one come to conclusions of understanding the events, characters and
more.
My previous experience has made me enjoy tours that provide far more intimate coloration of what
happened there that is missing from other sources and although we were taught of the happenings in
history there are some things I don’t even know what looks like neither did I bother to look in the internet
one of the example is the sedula where I’ve seen the real one or what it looks like in the ‘Museo ng
Katipunan’ and the most interests me are the weapons that the katipuneros previously used looked like, its
definitely different from what I imagined ‘bolo knife’ they were using. Even unguided tours fill in the
culture represented by allowing us to view the artifacts, clothing and informations from that place and era.
So much of history is simply an outline until it is actually visited and the details are learned.

 The following images are from google site sources but these are examples of the things I’ve seen when
we visited the Museo ng Katipunan in one of my field trips.
