How to Find MAC Address on Android

This document provides instructions for finding the MAC address on Android and iOS devices. For Android 10 and higher, the device assigns a random MAC address for each WiFi connection by default, but this can be turned off. The random MAC address or permanent device MAC address can be found in the device settings. For iOS 14 and higher, Apple allows using a different MAC address for each WiFi network, which is enabled by default but can be turned off in settings. For all devices, the MAC address can generally be found in the device settings under network or about phone information.

Find your Android MAC address

Android devices with Android 10 and higher

For Android 10 and higher, the device assigns a randomised MAC address for each SSID by
default. When using a hotspot with HOTSPLOTS there are basically two options:

Option 1: Keep the default setting and use randomised MAC address. If the MAC
address should be registered as free, the specific MAC address for the corresponding
SSID must be retrieved.

How to find the randomised MAC address

Open the settings of your device (*). Select “Wireless & Networks“ and choose “Wi-Fi“. Tap
the gear icon of the selected Wi-Fi. There you can find the randomised MAC address and
switch this function on or off.

Option 2: Turn off the randomised MAC address for the selected Wi-Fi connection and use
the device‘s MAC address instead.

How to find the device MAC address of your Android mobile device
Open settings of your device. Scroll down and select “About phone“. For Android 11 and
higher you can here find the randomised MAC addresses for each SSID already used as well
as the permanent MAC address of your phone.

Android devices with Android 9

Open settings (*) of your Android mobile device. Scroll down and select “About phone“. Here you see various data. You can
find the MAC address of your mobile device under “Wi-Fi MAC address“.

Note: In Android 9, you can enable a developer option (disabled by default) to have the device use a randomised MAC
address when connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

Android devices up to Android 8.0

Open settings (*) of your Android mobile device. Select “System“ and tap the button “About phone“. You can find the MAC
