Values Education: PH-China Dispute Lesson

The document outlines a lesson plan for a values lesson for Grade 8 students discussing the ongoing territorial dispute between the Philippines and China over islands and waters in the South China Sea. The plan calls for dividing students into two groups to debate the Philippine and Chinese positions. Students will read materials to gain an overview of the issues before debating how Filipinos have responded non-violently, protected sovereignty, and followed international law. After the debate and discussion, students will individually write their views on the conflict and be evaluated based on their performance and a reflective writing assignment.
