(Amanda starts to narrate the story, Pey Shyan slowly walk up to the middle of the stage)
Let me introduce to all of you a friend of mine, Michael. Michael is a male obviously, he is 45 this year.
(Diana, Melynnia & Asfa walk towards Peyshyan and stand besides him) He’s a married man with two
adorable kids. He’s known as a family man, and takes care of his family well. (Diana, Mel & asfa come
down from the stage)
(Pey Shyan remained on the stage and do some solo action as Amanda narrates) We get to know each
other when we are working in Company X in the Sales Team. Michael is really a capable sales person.
Back then when he first joined the company, he had zero knowledge. (ChernYiing brings the 2million
paper and walks up the stage, peyshyan pretend to introduce his project to ChernYiing) however in
just a short time, given half a year, with his determination and hard work, he managed to close 2 million
sales. (Chern Yiing and Peyshyan shake hand and showing the 2million paper, then Chern Yiing come
down from the stage). This is indeed a magnificent achievement for someone who just stepped in the
field for less than a year. (Mandy, Dyg, Hani, Nelly, Ummi, Wilma, Verna walk up the stage towards
peyshyan and clap hands and give thumbs up) Everyone in the team, including our boss, praised him for
the excellent sales. Then, he was determined to achieve a higher target on his own. Indeed, his
determination reflected on his result, each time he managed to close higher and higher sales. He
became successful very soon and he thought he could do everything on his own. Some of the team
mates (Dyg, Hani, Nelly to still give thumbs up to PeyShyan) still look up to him, but of course some
(Ummi, Wilma, Verna to turn away and give Pey Shyan side eyes) despised him for not working as a
team together, but he was unbothered. (Dyg, Hani, Nelly, Ummi, Wilma, Verna to come down from
stage. Diana, Mel, Asfa to walk up to stage. Mel and Asfa hold an item and ask Pey Shyan to choose)
His ego soon translated to even his personal life. At home, he will often reply to his wife with something
like this, “aiya, just buy the most expensive one, it will solve the problem.” Seems like everything can be
solved using the money he earned. (Diana, Mel, Asfa to come down from stage)
(Pey shyan to pick up badminton racket and shuttercock, and William walk up the stage both pretend
to play badminton) To release the great tension Michael has with his work and position, he often plays
badminton with his buddy Jim after work. They play 3 times a week. On a random Friday while they
were playing badminton, suddenly Michael fell on the ground. Jim quickly checked on him but he soon
became unconscious, so Jim had to send him to the hospital. (Dyg to bring up a chair for Pey Shyan to
sit, Naz to walk up the stage pretend to explain his condition, William to come down from stage) After
a CT scan was done, the doctor announced that he had a major stroke, and that it might take some time
for him to even walk without any support. Upon hearing this, Michael’s world came crashing down. (Naz
to come down from stage) Just as he thought he had all the puzzles pieced together nicely by his own
effort, he wouldn’t have thought that his once energetic body would come to this state.
(Only peyshyan sitting on the chair reflecting his thoughts) Being a person who doesn’t like to depend
on others, he found it hard to adapt to this new norm where he needs someone to help him even to go
to the washroom. (everyone walk up to stage pretend to comfort peyshyan) His friends and colleagues
visited him and comforted him. With the help of his wife and family members, he was determined to
walk again. (William to pretend hold his hand and lift him up to walk) After a few months, he was
finally able to walk by himself slowly. (everyone clap hands and show encouragement towards
peyshyan) Throughout this difficult period of time, he felt loved by people around him that cared for
him. Eventually, he realized how he was living for himself and didn’t care less about those around him.
He felt remorse and was determined to change his attitude. He began to humble himself before God and
men, and not consider himself above others. Due to his change in attitude, his colleagues also began to
thrive in doing sales and performing their daily routines. Micheal also became a happier man. (Diana
stand besides peyshyan and pretend to talk to him) His wife began to ask him about his change. He
can’t help but answer, “it’s always better to realise late than never, right?”
(Amanda to walk up the stage to conclude) So the moral of this story is that we should all be humble
and know that we need each and everyone so that we can thrive as a community. Remember the old
African proverb: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
We would like to conclude and dedicate the song “Count on you by Bruno Mars” to our fellow team
mates of PMG. Each and everyone here play an important role in our lives. We can always count on each
other. (All team mates from all branches to come up the stage, stand randomly)
