Threads of Fate

Title: "Threads of Fate"

Synopsis:
"Threads of Fate" is a compelling stage play that weaves the intricate stories of five diverse
groups of friends, each facing their own set of challenges and triumphs. Set against the backdrop
of a vibrant city, the play explores the bonds that tie them together, the secrets that threaten to
tear them apart, and the unexpected twists that fate has in store for them.
The central group comprises a dynamic mix: a loving couple, Alex and Morgan; the seemingly
cold and distant Ivy; the openly gay and charismatic Leo; and the closeted gay, Adrian,
struggling to reveal his true self to his conservative parents.
As the friends navigate the complexities of life, love, and friendship, they find themselves
entangled in a web of emotions, misunderstandings, and hidden truths. Alex and Morgan's
relationship is put to the test when a long-buried secret resurfaces, challenging the very
foundation of their love.
Ivy, the enigmatic and reserved member of the group, slowly reveals the vulnerability beneath
her icy exterior, exposing a past she has been desperately trying to escape, a traumatic childhood
being beaten many times by her own father. Leo, the life of the party, unveils the secret behind
the smile and laughter that he shares with his friends, being unable to graduate with them on
time.
The most gripping twist unfolds when Adrian's parents unexpectedly visit the city, unaware of
his true identity. As the group rallies together to support Adrian, they must navigate a delicate
dance of secrets and revelations, all while facing their own personal demons.
"Threads of Fate" is a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with laughter, tears, and moments of
profound self-discovery. Through unexpected twists and turns, the play explores the
transformative power of friendship, the courage to be authentic, and the resilience required to
face the threads of fate that bind us all.
SCENE 1
Setting 1: Apartment Living Room
(The group of friends gathers in Alex and Morgan's apartment, setting the stage for a seemingly
ordinary evening.)
Alex: (smiling) It's great having everyone together like this.
Morgan: (nodding) Yeah, it feels like old times.
Ivy: (sarcastic) Old times were never my favorite.
(Leo enters with a burst of energy, carrying a bottle of champagne.)
Leo: Party's not complete without some bubbly! What are we celebrating?
Ivy: They’re exaggerating things again. It’s just the end of the semester, what’s the big deal?
Alex: Come on Ivy, we had a tough semester. What’s wrong with having some buzz?
Morgan: Don’t mind her, she just can’t get over with what happened with her and Mike.
Ivy (rolls her eyes): Yeah yeah. I guess I need something refreshing.
Leo: Too much chitchat. Where’s my sister by the way, We’re not starting without that diva.
Alex: (smirking) She's fashionably late, as always. Drama runs in the family.
Leo: (laughs) That's my girl. She knows how to make an entrance.
(Adrian enters, twirling in a stylish outfit, drawing everyone's attention.)
Adrian: Did someone say drama? Because I'm here to deliver!
Morgan: (sarcastically) Just what we needed.
Adrian: (ignoring Morgan) Leo, darling, the party can officially begin now.
Leo: (handing champagne to Adrian) You're truly the life of the party, sis.
(Adrian dramatically pops the champagne, causing everyone to cheer.)
Ivy: (rolling eyes) Can we just drink and forget about the drama for a moment?
Adrian: (to Ivy) Darling, drama is the spice of life. Embrace it!
(The group laughs as they raise their glasses for a toast.)
Leo: To surviving another semester, fabulous friends, and drama that keeps us alive!
(They all clink their glasses and take a sip of champagne, setting the stage for a night filled with
laughter, stories, and a touch of the unexpected.)
(The group, now a bit tipsy, continues the festivities. Adrian, however, is noticeably the drunkest,
dancing and singing around the room.)
Adrian: (singing dramatically) I will surviveee! As long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay
alive!
Leo: (laughing) Adrian, you're a legend!
Ivy: (sarcastically) A legend in his own mind.
(Morgan, observing the scene, starts to feel a bit uneasy. She exchanges a glance with Alex, who
seems to be enjoying the party without any reservations.)
Morgan: (muttering to Alex) Do they always get this crazy?
Alex: (smirking) It's just one of those nights. Let them have their fun.
(Adrian stumbles and nearly knocks over a lamp, causing Morgan to shoot an annoyed look in
his direction.)
Morgan: (sarcastically) So graceful.
Alex: (defensively) Come on, Morgan, it's a party. Let them enjoy it.
Morgan: (smirking) Enjoy it? More like tolerate the chaos.
(Morgan takes another sip of her drink, her eyes lingering on Alex and Adrian's interaction.)
Ivy: (whispering to Morgan) You okay?
Morgan: (looking distant) I just didn't expect Alex and Adrian to be so... cozy.
Ivy: (raising an eyebrow) Cozy? More like nostalgic. They seem to have a lot of history.
Morgan: (confused) History? What are you talking about?
Ivy: (leaning in) High school history. Didn't you know they were a thing back then?
(Morgan's eyes widen as she watched Alex catching Adrian who almost fell down for being too
drunk.)
Morgan: (whispering, to herself) High school sweethearts, huh?
(As the realization sinks in, Morgan's expression turns from surprise to something more sinister.
She takes another sip of her drink, plotting silently in her intoxicated state.)
Leo: (pulling Adrian into a dance) Adrian, my dancing partner, let's show them how it's done!
(As the group continues to revel, the atmosphere subtly shifts, setting the stage for Morgan's
brewing resentment.)

SCENE 2
Setting: Adrian’s Apartment
(The next day, Adrian received a call from his parents. Him and Leo are still messy in the
morning since they went partying the last night, enjoying their semester break.)
(Phone rings, Adrian extends his arms lazily to get his phone to answer it.)
Adrian: (Husky voice, eyes are still half closed) Hello?
Marcus: It’s already 8 in the morning and just by hearing that voice of yours, it seems like you’re
still glued in your bed.
Adrian: (Immediate panic and composed himself) Yes, dad. I’m sorry I just finished doing some
chores, I’m a bit tired.
Marcus: More like morning sickness from partying all night.
Adrian: There’s no point in trying to prove my innocence. You won’t believe me anyway.
Marcus: Brilliant deduction there. Anyway, I called to let you know that we’re on our way to
your apartment. Your mother keeps on bothering me about how she misses you. You better be
there and not disappoint her.
Adrian: (Panic is evident in his voice.) What? Why didn’t you tell me?
Marcus: You know your mother and her being enamored with surprises. Besides, why do you
appear disturbed? Is there information that your mother and I should remain unaware of?
Adrian: No, no. I’m just surprised.
Marcus: That’s good. You've let me down enough, don’t do it to your mother.
Adrian: (Almost teary because of his father’s words.) I’m aware of that already.
Marcus: We’ll see you then. You better be on your proper shape, Adrian. (hangs up the phone)
Adrian: (Phone slowly fell down his cheeks) I’m dead.
Leo: What’s with the ruckus? It’s ruining my beauty sleep.
Adrian: (Panicking) Wake up, sis! You must help me!
Leo: GHAD! Is it really that important? Sleeping is essential. I hate having dark under eyes, that
would be my worst nightmare.
Adrian: My parents are in town and they’re on their way here. What should I do?
Leo: (Realization) Oh honey, grab the emergency glitter and sweep any hints of reality under the
fabulous rug! I refuse to be here as you break the newsflash to them! I can’t afford the drama as
of this moment. (looks at their messy state)
Adrian: (panicking) Leo, this is serious! My parents still think I'm living the fairy tale they
imagine. I can't keep hiding who I am forever.
Leo: (sarcastically) Darling, the glitter is serious business. But fine, let's talk strategy. We need to
create a distraction, a fabulous one. Maybe a parade of sequins to divert their attention?
Adrian: (rolling eyes) Leo, focus! I need your support here.
Leo: (placing a hand on Adrian's shoulder) Okay, okay. We'll figure this out. First things first,
tidy up this place. We can't have them discovering our glittery battlefield.
(They hurriedly start cleaning, tossing things into closets and under the couch.)
Adrian: (nervously) What if they find out about me?
Leo: (smirking) Well, darling, we'll just dazzle them with your fabulousness. They won't even
notice the glitter on the rug.
(As they rush around, the doorbell rings.)
Adrian: (panicking) They're here! What do I do?
Leo: (calmly) Relax, darling. Remember, we're the masters of disguise. Just be your fabulous
self, and I'll handle the rest.
(Adrian opens the door, and his parents, unaware of his true identity, walk in with smiles on their
faces.)
Agatha: (hugging Adrian) Oh, sweetheart, we've missed you so much!
Marcus: (looking around) It's been a while since we visited. Your place looks... interesting.
Leo: (stepping forward) Interesting is an understatement! Welcome to the fabulous lair of Adrian
and Leo. We live for the drama, darling!
Adrian: (Eyeing Leo) Welcome Mom, Dad. It’s really a surprise huh?
Agatha: You know me sweetheart. I love adding twists to make things fabulous. Which is why I
grew a bond with this friend of yours (hugs Leo). Right, darling? (To Leo)
Leo: (flashing a dazzling smile) Absolutely, Auntie!
Marcus: (Gathers Adrian to the side) Are you sure that gay friend of yours is not influencing you
to do (disgusted look) gay things?
Adrian: Dad, please. Leo is such a good friend. I don’t want to hurt his feelings so please stop
acting like that.
Marcus: (Somewhat convinced) If you say so. I just don’t want you to taint my name. What
would my friends say if you end up being something like that—
Adrian: Like what?
Marcus: All glittery.
Adrian: I said stop dad. Leo is a dignified person, he’s even a better human being than other
straight guys out there.
Marcus: Fine, fine. I’m just saying.
Agatha: (Senses the intense atmosphere between his husband and son.) There, there. We don’t
want this reunion to end up all messy right? Adrian, dear, we’re here to run some business in
town for a month. We’ll be staying at a hotel nearby. I’ll text you the exact address, come visit us
sometimes.
Adrian: I will, mom.
Agatha: Well, enough for the catching up. We better go and fix our things. We had a rough flight.
Marcus: Remember what I told you earlier, Adrian. I’ll be keeping my eye on you.
Adrian: Yes, I’ll keep that in mind. (not interested)
Agatha: Good bye, dear. Bye Leo, take good care of my precious son.
Leo: There’s no need for that, Auntie. He’s the one who takes good care of me. (flirty chuckle)
Marcus: (EYEING ADRIAN)
Agatha: (pushes Marcus) Now, now. We really need to go. Byebye! (closes the door)
Leo: (letting out a sigh of relief) Well, darling, that was a close call. Your parents are more
clueless than I thought.
Adrian: (nervously laughing) I can't believe we pulled that off. I thought they'd figure it out for
sure.
Leo: (sipping a mocktail) Please, my dazzling performance skills are unmatched. They bought
the whole "fabulous lair" act. I should get an Oscar for that.
Adrian: (smirking) You were something else back there. Thanks for having my back, Leo.
Leo: (dramatically) Darling, I'd throw myself into a pit of glitter for you. But seriously, we need
to talk about this whole hiding-your-true-self thing. It's not healthy.
Adrian: (sighing) I know, Leo. It's just... my parents are from a different era. I'm not sure how
they'd react.
Leo: (placing a hand on Adrian's shoulder) Sweetie, you deserve to live authentically. We'll
figure this out together, okay?
Adrian: I guess I’ll disclose it with them soon. But not just yet, I can’t afford any more
disappointment from my father. (sighs as he sits and drink a cup of coffee)
Leo: If that’s your decision, I’ll respect it. I guess we’ll keep this fabulous act until we graduate.
(chuckles as he sits besides Adrian and sips his coffee).
(They share a laugh, their friendship stronger than ever, as they prepare to embrace the
challenges of being true to themselves.)

SCENE 3
Setting: Park
(Agatha and Marcus stroll through the park, the sounds of nature and distant laughter filling the
air. They find a cozy bench and decide to take a break.)
Agatha: (sighing) Ah, Marcus, I need to sit down. This loafing is exhausting.
Marcus: (grinning) You're the one who insisted we come to the park. Loafing was your idea.
Agatha: (rolling eyes) Well, I didn't anticipate the park being this big. And why did you bring a
picnic basket? We're not having a picnic!
Marcus: (defensively) I thought we might get hungry during our loafing session!
(Agatha spots a nearby bench and decides to sit.)
Agatha: (sarcastically) Loafing session, indeed. I need a break.
Marcus: (smirking) If I remember correctly, you were the one who wanted to rediscover the joys
of loafing.
Agatha: (ignoring Marcus) I'm calling Adrian. Maybe he's free for dinner tonight.
(Agatha takes out her phone and dials Adrian's number. Adrian answers after a couple of rings.)
Adrian: Hey, Mom! What's up?
Agatha: Oh, just your father and I enjoying the wonders of loafing in the park.
Adrian: (laughing) Loafing? Really?
Agatha: (ignoring the sarcasm) Anyway, how about having dinner at your place tonight? I miss
you, and I'd love to catch up. And bring your friends too! I want to meet the people you've been
spending time with.
Adrian: I’d love to but I’m afraid I might disappoint you especially with the food since it’s quite
a short notice.
Agatha: Don’t worry with the food, my dear. I’ll bring something to eat as well. Just prepare
what’s available in your apartment.
Adrian: (enthusiastically) If that’s the case, then sure, Mom! I'll invite everyone. It's been a while
since you've seen them.
Agatha: Great! See you tonight then.
(Agatha hangs up with a satisfied smile.)
Marcus: (grinning) Loafing turned into a dinner invitation. Not bad.
Agatha: (smirking) I might be old, but I still know how to spice things up.
(They both laugh as they continue their leisurely stroll through the park, looking forward to the
evening ahead.)

SCENE 4
Setting: Adrian’s Apartment
(Adrian, Leo, and Alex are busy preparing the food while Ivy and Morgan are busy preparing the
table. After couple of minutes, the doorbell rang, insinuating the arrival of Adrian’s parents. Ivy
and Morgan opened the door and greeted them.)
Agatha: Hello, dearests. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you two. (hugs Ivy)
Ivy: (Hugs Agatha back) It’s been awhile, auntie. I’m glad you paid us a visit.
Agatha: I missed my son, dear. (Proceeds hugging Morgan) And the people he spends the rest of
his time with. I’m glad he’s surrounded by amazing friends.
Morgan: We’re glad to be on his company as well, auntie. (eyes Marcus)
Adrian: Mom, Dad come take a seat. My friends and I prepared this dinner for you.
(Agatha and Marcus joined them in the table.)
Agatha: (Observing the banter) It's clear you all have a special bond. Adrian, you never
mentioned how entertaining your friends are.
Leo: (Bowing dramatically) We aim to please!
Adrian: (Smiling) What can I say? They keep life interesting.
Marcus: (Slightly stern) Interesting indeed. But, Adrian, you should surround yourself with
people who encourage you to focus on what matters.
Ivy: (Defiantly)Uncle, everyone needs a bit of spice in their lives. It's not all about work.
Leo: (Dramatically) Ivy, my soul sister, you understand me!
Morgan: (Trying to ease the tension) Well, Adrian, how about you? Any exciting news in your
life?
Adrian: (Nervously) Oh, you know, the usual drama and glamour.
Leo: (Winking) And a few secrets we'll take to the grave!
Agatha: (Laughing) It sounds like you've all had quite the journey together.
Ivy: (Changing the topic) So, Auntie, Uncle, what's new with you two? Any exciting adventures?
Agatha: (Smiling) We recently took a trip to Italy. The food there was divine.
Leo: (Excitedly) Oh, Italy! The fashion, the romance, the drama! I would kill for a trip like that.
Marcus: (Chuckling) You seem to have a flair for the dramatic, Leo.
Leo: (Flipping hair) Guilty as charged.
Adrian: (Trying to lighten the mood) Leo's flair aside, Mom, Dad, I'm grateful you came tonight.
Agatha: (Sincerely) Adrian, we're happy to be here and see the wonderful family you've built.
Marcus: (Softening) Just remember, balance is crucial. Life isn't always about glitter and drama.
Leo: (Under his breath) Well, someone needs to teach Uncle Marcus about fabulousness.
Agatha: Oh dear, that’s been my job for years.
(The table erupts in laughter, defusing the tension momentarily. As the friends and parents
continue their dinner.

Scene 5
Setting: Park
[Ivy, Adrian, and Alex are sitting on a park bench with their study materials spread out. The
atmosphere is tense as they wait for Leo and Margot.]
Adrian: (checking his watch) Leo should be here soon. Where's Margot?
Alex: (concerned) She's not feeling well. Leo is with his glee club today. They both had to skip
our study session.
Ivy: (nonchalant) Figures. Why can't people just stay healthy and stick to schedules?
[Adrian shoots Ivy a look,]
Adrian: Ivy, Margot's really not feeling well. We should be concerned.
Ivy: (softening) Yeah, yeah. I'm just frustrated about the exams, that's all.
[As they continue discussing the upcoming exams, Ivy's facade of indifference slips, and she
becomes visibly distracted.]
Alex: (noticing Ivy's unease) Ivy, something on your mind?
Ivy: (hesitant) It's nothing. Just stressed about the exams, like everyone else.
[Adrian exchanges a knowing glance with Alex, recognizing that Ivy might be hiding something
deeper.]
Adrian: (gentle) Ivy, we're all friends here. If something's bothering you, you can talk to us.
[Ivy looks away, hesitant to open up.]
Ivy: (mumbling) Just forget it.
Adrian: Fine. How about this? Why don’t we just go to her house and finish our group study
there. In that case, she’d still be updated with the lesson we’re trying to learn right now.
Adrian: Sounds like a good idea. Why don’t you text him, Alex? Tell her we’ll be there in a
couple of minutes.
Alex: Yeah, I’m doing that right now.
Ivy: (rolling eyes) Fine, but I'm not carrying any get-well-soon balloons or anything.
Alex: (chuckles) Fair enough. Let's make sure Margot is okay, and then we can hit the books
together.
[ The friends are on their way to Margot's place. Ivy suddenly begins to act differently—nervous
and shivering—after spotting her father. He used to physically abuse her when she was a child,
contributing to her traumatic past. However, her friends are unaware of this, which makes Ivy's
behavior seem strange to them. Ivy pauses)

Alex: Ivy, are you okay? You seem nervous?

Ivy: (Speechless and looking at a certain direction where his father is located)
Adrian: Hey girl! Are you still with us?
Ivy:(Goes back to reality, but stutters as she speaks) Y-yeah. I-m fine.
Adrian: Do you know that old guy over there? Ew don’t tell me you’re into older men.
Ivy: (Rolls her eyes)
Alex: Stop it guys, seriously Ivy, you good?
Ivy: I said I’m fine, let’s just go.
( They continue walking until they encountered Sasha, Erin, and Kelly. They unexpectedly
encounter Sasha, Erin, and Kelly – the mean girls from Leo’s glee club.]
Sasha: (smirking) Well, well, look who we have here.
Erin: (mocking) Trying to enjoy the fresh air between all those books?
Kelly: (sarcastic) Leo's not with you guys today? What a surprise.
[Adrian and Alex exchange uncomfortable glances, sensing trouble.]
Adrian: Leo's busy with the glee club today. What do you want?
Sasha: (grinning) Oh, nothing much. We just thought you might want to know something
interesting.
Ivy: (skeptical) And what would that be?
Erin: (smirking) Well, it's about your dear Leo. You know he won't be graduating with you,
right?
[Alex, Ivy, and Adrian share a shocked and confused look.]
Adrian: (confused) What are you talking about?
Kelly: (taunting) Leo got dropped from one of his subjects. Looks like he won't be joining you in
graduation.
[The news hits Ivy, Alex, and Adrian hard, a mix of disbelief and concern on their faces.]
Ivy: (defensive) That can't be true.
Sasha: (enjoying the drama) Oh, but it is. Maybe he's not as perfect as you all thought.
[The mean girls walk away, leaving Ivy, Adrian, and Alex in stunned silence.]
Ivy: (worried) We need to talk to Leo. This doesn't make sense.
Alex: (nodding) Yeah, something's not right. Let's find him and get the full story.
Adrian: That can’t be true, right? Leo would’ve told us. What’s the point of being best friends?
Alex: Let’s not jump into conclusions yet, Adrian. We must hear Leo’s side of the story.
Ivy: That’s right, we better go now.

Scene 6
Setting: Adrian’s Apartment
[Marcus stands in the middle of the living room. Agatha, his wife, is sitting on the sofa,
attempting to make the atmosphere more comfortable.]
Agatha: (smiling) Relax, Marcus. Adrian said it's fine for us to stay here while he's out.
Marcus: (coldly) I don't see why we need to impose on him like this.
Agatha: (calmly) He's our son, Marcus. He won't mind. Besides, it's just for a short while.
[Marcus glances around the room, his disapproval evident.]
Marcus: (sarcastically) Lovely decor. Clearly, he's doing well for himself.
Agatha: (ignoring his tone) Adrian's worked hard for what he has. We should be proud.
[Marcus remains silent, clearly not sharing Agatha's sentiment.]
Agatha: (trying to ease the tension) Adrian will be back soon. Let's just relax and enjoy some
time with our son.
[Marcus grunts in response, still not fully convinced. Agatha reaches for her phone to check the
time.]
Agatha: He should be here any minute now. Why don't you sit down?
[Marcus reluctantly takes a seat, his stern expression unwavering. The distant sound of a door
unlocking catches their attention.]
(Adrian is shocked by seeing his parents. He quickly turned around and wiped his lipstick.)
Adrian: Mom, Dad. You’re here.
Agatha (proceeds to hugging Adrian): Yes dear. (hugs) We thought we could come by since
we’re leaving tomorrow.
Adrian: Tomorrow? What’s with the rush?
Marcus: Business matters.
Adrian: (Nods) I see.
Agatha: Well, since we’re here now. Why don’t you gather your friends and let’s have dinner
together. I can’t leave without properly thanking them for taking good care of you.
Adrian: (hesitant) I don’t know. They might be busy.
Agatha: You don’t want to disappoint me now. Please, dear.
Adrian: (Eyes Marcus who’s eyeing him as well) Fine. I’ll call them but you have to help me
cook. (chuckles)
Agatha: Is that a challenge? ‘Cause that’s been my job since before. (laughs)

Scene 7
Setting: Adrian’s Apartment
[The doorbell rings, and Agatha opens the door to Leo, Alex, Margot, and Ivy, who are greeted
by her warm smile.]
Agatha: (excitedly) Welcome, my dears! Come on in!
[The friends enter, Leo leading the way with a boisterous greeting.]
Leo: (enthusiastically) Auntie Agatha, you're looking fabulous as always!
Agatha: (laughs) Oh, Leo, you charmer! And look at this lovely couple. Alex, Margot, you two
are adorable.
[Alex and Margot smile, grateful for the warm welcome.]
Adrian's Dad (Marcus) enters the room with a distant nod, acknowledging the guests.
Marcus: (stoic) Dinner's almost ready.
[The friends exchange glances, picking up on Marcus's cold demeanor. They follow Agatha into
the dining room, where Adrian is setting the table.]
Adrian: (grinning) Hey, everyone! Glad you could make it. Dinner's almost served.
[Marcus watches the group, unimpressed, as Leo pulls out a bottle of wine from a bag.]
Leo: (cheerfully) Auntie, Uncle, I brought some wine to make this evening even more festive!
Agatha: (smiling) Leo, you're always full of surprises. Thank you, dear.
[Marcus remains silent, his stern gaze fixed on the scene.]
Adrian: (whispering to his friends) Dad's in one of his moods. Just ignore him.
[They all take their seats at the table, trying to fill the room with lively conversation. Leo raises
his glass. After a couple of drinks they’re already getting drunk. Margot and Ivy are sitting in the
sofa and Margot is very drunk.)
[Margot is sitting on the couch, drunk, holding a glass of wine. Ivy is nearby, observing the
situation.]
Margot: (frustrated) Ivy, I can't believe Alex never told me about him and Adrian! How could he
keep something like that from me?
Ivy: (calmly) Margot, it was a long time ago. People change. You can't hold Alex accountable for
his past.
Margot: (angry) But why didn't he tell me himself? I had to hear it from you! I thought we were
supposed to be honest with each other!
Ivy: (sighs) Margot, it's not my place to disclose someone else's past. I only told you because you
seemed genuinely curious, not to cause drama.
Margot: (muttering) Drama or not, I deserved to know. I feel betrayed, Ivy.
Ivy: (softly) Margot, they were just kids in high school. It wasn't a serious relationship. Alex
probably didn't think it was relevant to bring up.
Margot: (sipping her wine) That's not the point. We're supposed to share everything, the good
and the bad.
Ivy: (sympathetic) I get it, but people have their reasons for keeping certain things private. It
doesn't mean they don't trust you.
Margot: (teary-eyed) But now, every time I see Adrian and Alex together, I'll be thinking about
their past. It's like I'm the third wheel in my own relationship!
Ivy: (placing a hand on Margot's shoulder) Margot, don't let the past overshadow what you and
Alex have now. They're not together for a reason. Trust in your relationship.
Margot: (sniffling) It's just hard, Ivy. I thought I knew everything about Alex.
Ivy: (comforting) People have layers, Margot. This doesn't change the person Alex is today. If
you love each other, you can work through it.
[Margot wipes away a tear, still holding her glass of wine. Ivy remains by her side, offering
comfort.]
Ivy: (softly) Margot, relationships are built on trust. If you love Alex, you have to find a way to
move past this.
Margot: (sighs) I just don't know, Ivy. It's like a shadow over us now.
[Unbeknownst to Margot and Ivy, Alex has silently entered the room, overhearing their
conversation. His disappointment is evident, but he keeps his emotions in check.]
Alex: (hurt) Margot, is that really how you feel?
[Margot jumps, startled, as she turns to see Alex standing there, his expression a mix of
disappointment and frustration.]
Margot: (stammering) Alex, I didn't realize you were here.
Alex: (calm but hurt) I heard everything, Margot. I can't believe you don't trust me because of
something that happened years ago.
Margot: (guilty) Alex, it's not about not trusting you. It's just... it caught me off guard, and I felt
betrayed that you didn't tell me.
Alex: (upset) It's ancient history, Margot. We've been through so much together, and you let this
one thing change everything?
[Margot struggles to find the right words as the tension in the room thickens.]
Ivy: (interjecting) Maybe we should all take a step back and—
Alex: (cutting her off) No, Ivy. This is between Margot and me.
[Margot looks down, unable to meet Alex's gaze. He takes a deep breath, trying to compose
himself.]
Alex: (softly) I thought we could be honest with each other, Margot. If you can't trust me, I don't
know where that leaves us.
[Margot looks up, her eyes filled with regret. Alex walks away, leaving Margot and Ivy in a
heavy silence, the repercussions of their conversation sinking in.]
Margot: If only you were honest with me, I wouldn’t have called Adrian’s parents and told the
HE’S GAY!
(All of them are caught off guard because of Margot’s sudden confession.)
Alex: (angry and hurt) You did what?
Margot: You can’t blame me, Alex.
Alex: (raising his voice) That's no excuse for betraying Adrian's trust, Margot!
[Margot, fueled by anger and frustration, loses control.]
Margot: (shouting) Well, maybe if you were honest with me, I wouldn't have felt the need to do
it!
(Everyone in the room freezes, realizing the potential consequences of her words. Adrian's
parents, who were in the adjacent room, might have overheard.]
Adrian: (panicking) Margot, what are you doing?
Ivy: She’s just drunk, Adrian. Don’t take her seriously.
Adrian: Don’t take her seriously? Can you hear yourself, Ivy? She had no rights to do what she
did!
Margot: If you told me about this sooner, I would’ve understand it. But you didn’t. Why?
Because you still like him?
Alex: (frustrated) God, Margo! That was a long time ago.
Adrian: (mad) How could you do this, Margot? We were friends for a long time. I can’t believe
you’ll throw that all away just because you feel insecure of what happened ages ago! (Faces Ivy)
And you told her about it? Why didn’t you explained it to her more clearly so she won’t act
hysterical, huh?
Ivy: Why are you blaming me, now? I DID tell her that it was all in the past and there’s no need
to worry about it now.
Leo: Relax, Adrian. You parents might hear us.
Adrian: Relax? How can I relax if the people whom I thought I could trust are doing this to me.
And don’t act all innocent, Leo. You think we didn’t know? That you’re not graduating on time?
Leo: W-what are you talking about?
Adrian: Sasha and her friends told us about it. How could you keep such crucial secrets from
me? We're supposed to be friends!
Leo: I didn’t tell you because-
[The door to the adjacent room opens, and Agatha and Marcus, Adrian's parents, step into the
living room, their expressions a mix of confusion and concern.]
Agatha: What's going on in here?
[Margot, caught off guard, looks at Alex and Adrian, who exchange worried glances. Ivy remains
silent, observing the unfolding drama.]
Adrian: (trying to defuse the situation) Mom, Dad, it's just a misunderstanding. Margot and I
were having a heated discussion.
Marcus: (sternly) About what, exactly?
Ivy: About how secrecy cloaks this group. What’s the point of calling each other best friends if
you can’t even open up your own struggles? (Roles her eyes)
Adrian: Really, Ivy? You think we’re unaware of how much of a stalker you are? We’ve seen you
stalking that old man for the past few months and do nothing but shivers the moment he eyes
your direction. Tell me, what’s your excuse?
Ivy: (stutters) T-that’s none of your business!
Adrian: See? You don’t have to wash your hands and act hypocrite! We’re all hiding something!
Leo: That’s enough Adrian!
Adrian: Why should I stop, Leo?
Leo: Because you’re not acting right!
Adrian: And you’re the one to say that, huh?
Alex: Guys, stop it please.
Ivy: How about you scold your so called girlfriend not to jump into conclusions.
Margot: (Gets dizzy and sudden realization) I- I’m sorry. I’m really drunk—
Adrian: Excuses, Margot. You just want to ruin my life for something that happened a long time
ago.
Agatha: Adrian, that’s enough. (Hugs Adrian)
Marcus: We’ve always known, Adi.
[Marcus calls Adrian “Adi” when he was still young which left Adrian in shock because his
father hasn’t called him that for years.]
Adrian: What do you mean?
Agatha: Even before Margot tattled you to us, we’re already aware of it. Remember your high
school graduation? You got totally wasted so your friends had to carry you home. You confessed,
Adi. Because you like that friend of yours back then.
Marcus: It was hard to swallow back then because you’re my only son. But what can I do? I’m
your father and if I can’t accept you, I’ll be the worst father in the world.
Adrian: B-but why didn’t you tell me? (Already crying)
Agatha: Because you grew distant to us, son. Especially when you went to college. We’re just
waiting for you to open it up to us. We’re your parents Adi and we love you regardless how
glittery your eye shadow gets.
Adrian: (chuckles while crying) Mom, Dad, I’m sorry. (Hugs his parents) I was so scared. I can’t
afford to disappoint you again, especially you dad, since I wasn’t able to take the course you
wanted me to take.
Marcus: Enough with the worry and regrets, son. You pursued your passion, which was my
greatest regret back then because I followed what my parents wanted me to. You’ve always been
brave since you were a kid. And I couldn’t be more proud of you for always standing up for
yourself.
Adrian: (Hugs his parents again) Thank you, Mom, Dad. I love you guys so much.
Agatha: Now, how about you settle that turmoil with your friends. You said bitter things earlier.
Look, Leo’s not here anymore.
[Adrian looks back to his friends.]
Ivy: If you’re looking for him, he went to the rooftop to get some fresh air.[cold tone, avoids eye
contact with Adrian]
Alex: We must settle this once and for all. Come on, to the rooftop everyone. [Casually
supporting Margot. Ivy and Adrian follows them.]
Scene 8
Setting: Rooftop
[Leo is bawling his eyes when the four arrived. This made them worried because it’s the first
time they saw him crying that much since he’s always cheerful and bright.]
Adrian: (First one to approach Leo and pats his back) Leo? Look, I’m truly sorry for everything I
said back there. I wasn’t thinking, I let my feelings get to me. I’m really sorry
Leo: (Still crying) It’s okay. I understand you.
Ivy: But Leo, why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve helped you. (Suddenly became soft for his
friend)
Leo: I was scared. I didn’t know what to do and I don’t want to disappoint you, well not yet
because you’ll find it out eventually but, I was still looking for the perfect time to tell you.
Alex: But how? You’re always good when it comes to academics. You’re even smarter than me.
Leo: (crying and breaking down) Because I refused Mr. Alvarez. He wants to do it with me but
you know me. I may be openly gay but I despise doing that especially when it’s not right.
[The confession shocked everyone.]
Ivy: (mad) What? Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve done something about it. Mr. Alvarez,
that disgusting piece of trash.
Leo: I already told Ms. Mendoza about this that’s why I’m always busy and can’t come during
our study sessions. I’m doing my best to graduate on time. I’m sorry for not telling you guys.
(Crying)
Adrian: Leo, you can always count on us. We’re always here for you no matter what.
Ivy: I have something to confess as well. (Look down and starts crying.) My childhood wasn’t
that nice. (Chuckles sarcastically)
Alex: What do you mean, Ivy?
Ivy: That old man you’re talking about, he’s my father.
Adrian: What? You told us your father died when you were young.
Ivy: Yeah I guess that’s another lie I told you. He was a drunkard and was abusive with me and
my mother that’s why my mother died because of stress. When she passed away, I took all the
physical abuse from him. I couldn’t take the pain anymore that’s why I ran away and lived with
my distant cousin. But life wasn’t that good for me when I was young. They abused me as well
by strictly pushing me to do all the chores and smack me if I miss anything they told me.
Adrian: (covers his mouth) Ivy, sorry we didn’t know…
Ivy: I don’t blame you. I hid my past pretty well. When went to high school, that’s when I met
you. I learned to be dependent and guarded myself so I won’t suffer anymore. (Cries) But I feel
so empty every time I think about my past. I wish things didn’t turn that way so I could freely
express my emotions now. I got used to put myself first before anything or anyone else because
I’m scared I might get hurt again. But when you guys came, I thought I finally found the family
I’ve been craving my entire life.
[Everyone cries.]
Ivy: That’s why I’m doing my best to protect this friendship. I may be nonchalant and all but I
love you guys so much.
Leo: We love you too, Ivy. [Proceeds to hugging Ivy]
Margot: (stutters) I’m sorry. I’m really sorry. (Cries heavily) I was so immature. If only I could
turn back time but hell I can’t . (Goes to Adrian and holds his hand). I am really sorry Adrian. I
wasn’t with all of you when this group started but you welcomed and treated me like family. I’m
so ashamed for what I did, I hope you’ll forgive me Adrian. I hope you guys could forgive me.
(Cries)
Adrian: Well Margot, I was mad with what you did. WAS. Honestly, what happened was like a
blessing in disguise. Look at us now, we’re more open to each other.
Leo: He’s right Margot. You’re one of us and these are just challenges to test our friendship.
Alex: Besides, what happened between me and Adrian was before we became friends. Believe
me, love, you’re my world now.
Margot: I’m sorry for letting my emotions get above me. I love you. I love you guys. (Hugs
everyone)
Ivy: But that scene was pretty dramatic and I hate it. Starbucks for a month?
Margot:(Laughs) Right right. For a month. (Another group hug)
[The moonlight bathes the rooftop in a soft glow as Adrian, Leo, Alex, Margot, and Ivy stand
together, forming a circle. Unbeknownst to them, Agatha and Marcus quietly ascend the
staircase, following the muffled sounds of their voices.]
[As the parents reach the rooftop, they find the group engaged in a group hug. Agatha, always the
charismatic one, clutches a bottle of champagne in her hand. She grins mischievously as she
steps forward.]
Agatha: (looking amused) Really? Another group hug without me? How unfortunate, we even
brought more bubbles. (Shows the wine)
[The friends break out of their embrace, positive expressions on their faces.]
Adrian: (smiling) Mom, Dad! What are you doing here?
Marcus: (smiling) We couldn’t resist the lure of a rooftop reunion. Seems like we missed the
memo on the group hug.
Leo: (teasingly) Don’t worry, we saved a spot for you.
[Agatha pops open the champagne, and the sound of a celebratory “pop” fills the air. Glasses are
filled as the parents join the circle.]
Agatha:(raising her glass) To friendships that endure, even after a storm.
[They clink glasses, each person exchanging a knowing glance. The tension that once lingered
among them has dissipated, replaced by a sense of unity and understanding.]
Leo: (toasting) To forgiveness and new beginnings.
Adrian:(smiling) And to realizing that we’re stronger together.
[The group shares a collective nod of agreement and laughter, sipping their champagne as they
continue to enjoy the rooftop breeze. The city skyline becomes a backdrop to their reconciled
bond.]

FADE OUT.
