Grade 9 Science Weekly Learning Plan

The weekly learning plan covers investigating the relationship between the angle of release and the height and range of a projectile. Students will learn about projectile motion, impulse, momentum, and conservation of linear momentum. Classroom activities include recalling uniform accelerated motion and horizontal and vertical projectile motion. A video lesson will be assigned for homework.

Abstract
 Trajectories of launch angles with the same initial speed
It is very interesting to note that the same range is obtained for two different
launch angles – angles that add up to 90°. For instance, the ball released at
an angle of 60° will have the same range as when it is released at 30° with
the same speed. But of course, they will differ in their time of flight. When
released at a smaller angle, the object remains in the air for a shorter time.

 Higher launch angles have higher maximum heights

The maximum height is determined by the initial vertical velocity. Since
steeper launch angles have a larger vertical velocity component, increasing
the launch angle increases the maximum height.
