Many years ago, when she was nearly ten years old, Laura Buxton was
playing
in the garden with a balloon. Her family were having a party. She wrote a
message on the balloon: ‘Please return to Laura Buxton’ and her address. It
was a windy day and suddenly the balloon flew out of her hand and into the
sky.
This balloon travelled more than 200 km until it came down near the garden
of
another little girl. A man found the balloon, read the message and took it to
her
house. This girl was very surprised to see the message because her name
was
Laura Buxton too! And she was just ten years old.
The second Laura wrote a letter to the first Laura and then their parents
telephoned so they could meet. When they met, the girls noticed that they
were both wearing pink jumpers and jeans, both girls were also tall and thin
and had long brown hair and brown eyes. They were amazed! They talked
and found they had the same pets – a three-year-old black dog, a grey rabbit
and a guinea pig. They became good friends. Now they are older and they
are still friends. They are waiting for more magic to happen!
