San Francisco remains one of the most interesting cities in terms of tourism in the United States, original and
avant-garde in many respects, but also mixed and uniquely American.
A week's stay in San Francisco will certainly not be too much for an in-depth visit of the city, its neighborhoods
as diverse as they are varied, the major cultural institutions and to enjoy the natural site, the bay of San Francisco
and the spray of the Pacific. ...
Most of the hotels are grouped together in Downtown, a central location to radiate throughout the city. Make
your choice as soon as possible to limit costs. When it comes to transport, be prepared for some nice walks, even
if San Francisco cannot be traveled without the help of public transport.
The car is convenient for getting around town, but parking is a whole other story... renting a vehicle for a day or
if you plan to get out of San Francisco.
DAY 1 :
We attack this first day by the heart of SF, Downtown. Go to Union Square, pay attention to the architecture of
the buildings, then walk up Market Street; extensive shopping opportunities...
Take a trip to the Embarcadero market, stroll along the San Francisco Bay, then take Broadway for its
underworld addresses and the Beat Museum. Then, head for the top of Telegraph Hill, through the opulent
mansions, to climb to the top of Coit Tower, a first panorama of the city.
DAY 2:
We set off again in the morning at the Présidio Park, a vast park where it is possible to get lost. Army of joggers
and dog-sitters. Pass by the cemetery, then devote a moment to the Palace of the Legion of Honor and its
exhibits.
We can already see the Golden Gate, symbol of the city. Take a short tour of this mythical bridge, then hop on a
bike to descend along Marina and Fisherman Wharf: a beautiful seaside ride. Take the mythical Cable Car to go
up the steep streets of Russian Hill.
DAY 3:
A nice stroll in Golden Gate Park, with a little pedalo session on the lake on the way, attend a small outdoor
concert, then keep two hours to visit the SFMoMa, one of the great art museums of the city . Continue with
Haight Street and its hipster shops and small restaurants. Then take the bus to reach the most famous gay district
in the world Castro. Many bars to spend the evening.
