D. Discussing new concepts and practicing

new skills #1.

Okay, before we proceed to our lesson I

want you to know first the importance of
punctuation marks in a sentence.

“PUNCTUATION MARKS”

It used to create sense, clarity and

stress in a sentence.
It helps the reader/s understand what
is meant.
It makes writing more organized.

Thank you, class!

(the students read the definition)

Now, let me introduce you the two types of
sentences.

Would someone read this sentence for me?

An imperative sentence expresses

a request or gives a command or
direction. It also ends with a
period.

Thanks, Marcus. Give me an example of

imperative sentence as well.

This one is an imperative sentence. Could

you tell me the reason why it’s classified as
imperative? (the students read the definition)

Bring me a glass of water.

Nice answer!

These are the example of imperative Teacher, because it is a sentence that

sentence. expresses a direct command. It also ends
with a period.
Complete these by tomorrow.
Pass the salt.
Clean your room.
Be there at five.

Everybody read the examples on the board.

sentence. Everybody read the definition
written on the board?

An exclamatory sentence conveys

emotion and it ends with an
exclamation mark.

(the students read the examples)

Thank you everyone.

Anyone can give an example of

exclamatory sentence.

Yes Berry?

with an exclamation mark.

Now, in order for us to identify the two

types of sentence always remember that the
key word in the sentence or statement is
different. If it is an imperative it request a
command and it ends with a period and if it
is an exclamatory sentence it is conveys
emotion and it ends with exclamation mark.

exclamatory sentence.
